Currently it looks like a disturbance will pass south of the region bringing only a brief rain chance to the South Coast early Wednesday, another weak disturbance will be moving rather quickly along and bring the risk of a shower of rain or mixed precipitation early Thursday, and then we will have to watch a wave of low pressure also set to pass south of the region around Friday night with a rain/mix/snow threat. Dry weather returns Saturday.

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 13-17)
It’s stormy Monday time. Low pressure tracks northwest of the area today but it’s being accompanied by an area of very strong winds above the ground blowing out of the south, and some of these strong wind gusts can be pulled down to ground level with pockets of heavier rainfall moving through during the day, especially this afternoon. Even without that, it will be a breezy day anyway, though rather mild since the air is moving up from the south. Watch for pockets of wind damage and power outages, with the strongest wind gusts closer to the South Coast including Cape Cod, as well as some higher elevations. Quick improvement overnight tonight and a nice day Tuesday before a cold front settles through and turns it much cooler for midweek. A couple disturbances will come along during midweek, one passing south of the region Wednesday which may keep its precipitation shield confined to near the South Coast, at least south of I-90, and the second which may bring a few showers of rain and even mix/snow to the region later Thursday. When we get to Friday we may be watching yet another disturbance approaching by later in the day, but being a little unsure about this system will just lean toward clouds being dominant for now.

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 12-16)
For those celebrating Easter today in whatever limited way you can do it, you will find some very nice weather to accompany any outside activity, although it does start out chilly this morning before warming up nicely. There will be a breeze at times and some variable cloud cover at times, especially this afternoon. These clouds we see today are the forerunners of a storm system that is going to impact the region in a significant way Monday with rain and wind. There is the potential for damaging wind gusts, especially in the afternoon. These should occur in pockets rather than in a widespread fashion, as it’s the type of set-up that very strong winds are blowing from the south above the ground, and pockets of heavier rain can push some of these winds down to the surface, creating powerful gusts. Wind damage and power outages will certainly be a problem in some locations. Quick improvement comes Tuesday, a breezy but still very mild day behind the departing system. But colder air quickly moves in at night and the front that brings it will sit just to the south of the region while a wave of low pressure moves along it, turning Wednesday into a chilly and unsettled day, although the current indications are that precipitation from that low pressure wave would be mostly light and over southern locations – something to keep an eye on. Nevertheless, the atmosphere has another disturbance it will throw at us from the west later Thursday when a few rain and even snow showers may occur with chilly air in place.

A dry April weekend, a bit blustery and on the cool side today, still breezy but turning milder after a cold start on Sunday. We’ll see some passing fair weather clouds today, and after a sunny start Sunday, clouds will advance ahead of the next low pressure system, which will impact the region Monday. The track of the low will be northwest of the area, but it will bring the potential for some damaging wind gusts. Behind that system comes a breezy but mild and nicer day Tuesday, but cold air will sneak in at night as a cold front passes and that front will settle just to the south and allow a wave of low pressure to ride along it, which threatens to bring more unsettled weather for Wednesday.

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 10-14)
Low pressure that passed by southeastern New England yesterday, redeveloping overhead late in the day and then turning into a powerful storm as it moved through the Gulf of Maine last night continues to head into southeastern Canada, expanding and maxing out intensity today. This, combined with high pressure approaching from the west, creates windy conditions which will remain in place through tonight. In addition, a pool of cold air aloft and a trough of low pressure will trigger plenty of clouds and a few instability showers as the day goes on. A few of these showers may grow enough to produce thunder and/or small hail. That activity will fade out and move away by evening. The weekend will be dry, still breezy and on the cool side Saturday but turning milder after a cold start on Easter Sunday. We can still see some passing fair weather clouds with a little lingering chill aloft on Saturday, and by later Sunday a shield of higher level clouds will begin to cover the sky in advance of the next low pressure system. This one will track northwest of New England on Monday, set to bring windy and wet weather to he region. As that gets closer we’ll get more detailed about it, but appreciable rainfall and damaging wind gusts cannot be rule out from that system even a few days in advance. By Tuesday, it will have moved beyond the region and we’ll enjoy a fair and rather mild day, albeit breezy once again. All in all just a typical 5-day period for spring in this part of the world.

Low pressure comes along today and as it passes across the region it will redevelop as it goes by with its new center exiting via the Gulf of Maine. This set-up is good for a decent slug of rain, including the risk of thunder, some gusty wind, and a continuation of wind as the system departs and drier air arrives tonight. As the new storm expands into quite the beast over eastern Canada on Friday we’ll see a continuation of gusty wind, and cold air aloft will trigger some instability showers, some of which may contain thunder and small hail. Also, tides are astronomically high the next couple days and some coastal flooding, not directly related to any wind, is possible. Although where wind blows onshore it can enhance splash-over in those locations. This weekend will be dry with a breezy/cool Saturday and milder Sunday. The next storm system, another potent spring low pressure area, will arrive Monday with more rain and some wind.

A wave of low pressure passes just south of New England this morning which starts wet then dries out as the low pressure area moves away. However don’t expect complete clearing and on the heals of this low comes a stronger one, tracking right across the region late Thursday with a more widespread and stronger burst of rainfall, maybe even some thunder. As this low moves away and intensifies and expands, we’ll see blustery conditions with gusty winds later Thursday right through Friday, along with some additional unsettled weather as a large pool of cold air aloft has to translate across the region. The weekend improves, seeing dry weather, a breezy/bright/cool Saturday and a more tranquil and milder Sunday.

Another mild day today, except this one will have a little more sea breeze activity in coastal areas which will turn out somewhat cooler. Two low pressure areas moving along quickly will impact the region Wednesday, with mostly morning rain, and Thursday, with mostly midday and afternoon rain. The end of the week will feature windy and chilly weather with a passing rain shower threat Friday and a breezy and cool but dry Saturday as a broad area of upper level low pressure moves across the region from west to east.
