Sunday May 10 2026 Forecast (7:51AM)

DAYS 1-5 (MAY 10-14)

Low pressure passing to our north will drag a cold front slowly across our area today and tonight. While there are a lot of clouds much of today, it will be generally rain-free until a broken band of showers, and perhaps a thunderstorm, is triggered by the front and moves across the region from west to east from mid afternoon to early evening. The front will slow down over southeastern areas while a wave of low pressure forms on it moving northeastward and passing just offshore overnight / early Monday morning. This will prolong shower chances from eastern CT and RI through southeastern MA during these hours. Monday’s daylight hours will see any showers exit Cape Cod first thing in the morning, with a general clearing trend from west to east. High pressure builds in later Monday through Tuesday with fair weather. The next low pressure system arrives from the west at midweek bringing back abundant cloud cover and a good chance of some wet weather later Wednesday and Thursday, with finer details to-be-determined.

TODAY: Considerable clouds / limited sunshine. A shower and slight chance of a thunderstorm west to east mid afternoon through early evening. Highs 58-65 South Coast, 65-72 elsewhere. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers mainly eastern CT, RI and southeastern MA. Lows 48-55. Wind variable to N up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Any early showers exit Cape Cod with clouds thinning for sun west to east. Highs 60-67. Wind NW up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 42-49. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 57-64. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows 43-50. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs 55-62 occurring by midday then may turn cooler especially coastal areas. Wind variable to E up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT / THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain. Temperatures generally 50-57, coolest coast. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 15-19)

Upper level low pressure is expected to be over to just east of the region as part of a larger scale blocking pattern. Drier weather but not absent of shower chances. Temperatures start cool, then moderate later in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 20-24)

Upper level low pressure departs, replaced by a more west to east flow, up-and-down temperatures including milder to warmer air, and a few shower threats but overall a mostly dry pattern anticipated.

I’ll be visiting the cemetery this morning.

    1. Welcome to the 4 car. I have a feeling there will be some 3s and perhaps a 2??? I thought I might of had it in 3, but I chose a stupid wrong word. OH well. I’ll take a 4. 🙂

  3. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms here!

Congratulations on the Wordle 4s. I’m riding alone in the 5-car.

    1. May I please join you in the 5 car.

      Wordle 5

  4. Thanks, TK!

Nearly a half-inch of rain in showers and a 5 pm downpour yesterday.

    Happy Mothers Day!

TK, may your day be filled with sweet memories of your beloved Mom.

    1. are there any 3s yet? I think only 4s and 5s.
Please come and join us in the party car, the 4 car!!!

  5. Thanks TK and Happy Mother’s Day to the Moms!

57F here and the sun trying to peak out. Need it to dry out here so I can mow the lawn which is starting to look more like a field!

0.63″ in the rain gauge yesterday.

    1. I know there are other factors, but this doesn’t bode well for snowfall next winter. Time will tell. There “could” be enough other factors in play to offset the El Nino effects in New England.
We just don’t know yet, but even so, I don’t like the looks of it.

      1. You never know….couple it with a -NAO and you can get some massive mid Atlantic storms develop like what happened in 2009-2010 when DC and Baltimore got crushed repeatedly (although granted, that was not a SUPER El Nino).

Also, I was noticing that the El Nino projections peak early in the Winter and then the strength starts weakening as you get into January and beyond. We are likely not dealing with this extreme scenario all winter.

  6. May so far in Boston for temp departure is about +1F. Yes, warmer than average, albeit slightly. You’d think we were setting a record for cold the way the general public and media are reacting.

The spring so far (March 1 to May 9), about +0.7F. That’s not cooler than the long term average, it’s slightly milder than it.

So, how come so many people are misjudging this for something it isn’t? Perplexing. 😉

    1. It’s because they want consistent nice weather that just isn’t going to happen in New England, most especially near the coast. 🙂

      1. Which is absolutely absurd. We’ve NEVER had consistently warm and dry weather in the spring here. It’s not our climate!

If people want that, and CHOOSE to live here, then they have to deal with it. It’s just a fact of living here, and it’s a lot easier to deal with then a natural disaster, that’s for sure! I mean, I’m just calling it like it is. 🙂

        1. So true and I complain a lot, but I wouldn’t want to live any place else. As much as I complain, I know full well that it’s just the way it is around here. I’ve been around a long time and fully know what to expect. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though.

  7. Still see people complaining online about the weather around here today (not on the blog, on social media elsewhere).

Yup, a sun / cloud mix, light breeze, and temps ranging from the upper 50s on Cape Cod to the lower 70s inland is SO terrible.

    Go. Outside. 😉

    1. There’s been plenty of days since even mid April to complain about, but today is not one of them.

It’s very mid-late spring like. It feels like spring, no feeling of cool whatsoever and right now in SE Mass, it’s full sunshine.

  8. We’re now at 71, so it most definitely made it to 70!!! Who could possibly complain about 71 on May 10th?????

    crazy LOONS maybe. 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. 72 at Logan, but up the road a bit it is only 64 at Beverly with an ESE wind off of the ocean. That must be Longshot’s problem as well. If that is the case, I am very surprised Logan has maintained a SW wind.

  9. Pork tenderloin roast has been seasoned and will sit out for another 35 min or so and go in the oven at 4:30. Veggie prep at about 4:15 or so.

We’re having dinner around 5 or whenever the roast is done.
Yes, I am making dinner for my wife. Our son is coming up to join us. Our daughter is sick, sounds like covid, being a teacher, she gets sick all the time!!!

Planned trip to Dairy Queen in Natick after dinner. I am so looking forward to a blizzard. Haven’t had one in 2 years.
Quincy DQ is now permanently closed, making way for some sort of diner or restaurant.

    1. Sounds special. Except for your daughter. So sorry

Love a pork tenderloin. And mentioned to my oldest that I’m hungry for a beef tenderloin Also

      Mac would say …Mangia

    2. Sounds great!

We’re also having pork tenderloin. It’s wrapped around nuts, cranberries and fresh herbs from outside – yum.

    3. My son and DiL made eggs Benedict and had the best lemon blueberry loaf I’ve ever had from a nearby bakery. And they added bubka from another nearby bakery. RI is a foodie state.

  10. What a glorious day. Sun broke through in RI around noon and sun here in sutton now with some clouds moving in. Windows are all open

    73

  11. Driving home from a hike in NH, we hit some rain. I’m lodging a formal complaint. 🙂

It’s starting to rain here at home now too.

    1. Oh no. I have not checked radar. Assume it’s headed this was. Not looking great for my deck night.
