The September heat is gone, though the overall pattern is still mild to warm. However, compared to last week, this coming week will feel much more pleasant. It starts wonderfully with high pressure centered north of the region Monday, delivering pleasant air on a northeast wind that has not spent much time passing over water, but rather eastern Canada, so it will be on the dry side. This high retreats a little bit Tuesday and Wednesday as a smaller low pressure area to the south tries to push to the north. Expect increasing cloudiness Monday night and Tuesday, decreasing by later Wednesday. The question is, does any rain from the low make it into the area. For now, the thinking is that there is a risk of some in southern sections, but probably not very much. A warm-up is slated for the end of the week and a series of cold fronts will then try to push in from the west, bringing some risk of showers, especially Thursday. Next weekend looks dry and pleasant at this time as high pressure should be moving into the region. One caution is that we may need to watch the last of the fronts moving offshore in case it slows down.
