Sunday Forecast

7:23AM

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 6-10)
Despite some medium range model forecasts that say otherwise, I see no reason to change my forecast at this point, regarding low pressure south of the region as we get into the coming week. Our main weather players will be high pressure, one retreating to the east today, another approaching from the west Tuesday then shifting mainly north of the region but close enough to keep low pressure to the south heading toward midweek. What about Monday? Same deal as previously, our one “warmer and more humid” day with a risk of rain showers.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny morning. Partly sunny afternoon. Highs 62-69. Wind S increasing to 10-20 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain showers overnight. Lows 53-60. Wind S 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
MONDAY: Cloudy. Rain showers likely. Humid. Highs 65-72. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Rain showers early. Lows 55-62. Wind variable 5-15 MPH shifting to N.
TUESDAY: Clearing. Highs 63-70. Wind N to NE 10-20 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 45-52. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 56-63. Wind NE to E 10-20 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 38-45. Wind E 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 56-63. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 11-15)
Currently expecting low pressure to be held at bay offshore with just an easterly to northerly air flow and mainly dry weather here to start the period, then a transition to a more westerly flow mid to late period, with a weak trough from the west bringing a risk of some rain showers around October 14 (Columbus Day) and/or October 15. Temperatures should not depart too far from seasonal normals.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 16-20)
Zonal (west to east) flow pattern expected with minor rain shower threats and mainly dry weather, changeable temperatures but not too drastically departed from normal values.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

Colder this morning here than yesterday.
Bottomed out at 36 here while it was 47 at the airport. I could not see any frost, so
    not quite cold enough.

    1. We had spots of frost that look to be on the newly planted grass in neighborhood. Makes sense as it is not as dense. My New Guinea impatien is toast but itโ€™s in a pot at the outside edge of patio. Other one at base of foundation, southeast side still fine. We got to 30. 27 night before.

  2. Hopefully more mosquitoes bit the dust overnight. Still aways to go for Boston and the immediate coastline though.

  3. Thanks TK
Philip I to hope more mosquitoes have bit the dust. We have had two EEE deaths in CT. The last two mornings in CT have been cool including widespread 30s for inland CT yesterday morning. As a result of EEE a lot of sporting events times have been changed particularly in eastern CT where there have been the most reports of EEE.

    1. Sorry about those deaths. When I grew up if you got a mosquito bite, your mother or whomever sprayed some Bactine or other product on the infection and the bump would heal in a day or two. Nowadays one bite means instant death in a day or two. I donโ€™t get it. Is EEE the result of climate change?

    1. I read earlier that he was in very bad health. One of the great drummers. I used to play (or attempt to play) one of his solos when I was teaching myself to play drums as a 10 to 12 year old.

        1. Yup, but not too frequently. I sold my 2 sets (that I’d combined into one) some # of years ago. I have a small Ringo-like set that I play on once in a while now. But it’s about to be put to use in the recording of my son’s first album. ๐Ÿ™‚

I will be doing some of the percussion for his stuff. We have a separate project as a duo that we’re working on as well. I’ll be doing both percussion and some vocals for that stuff but for his solo effort I’ll just be contributing some drum patterns that he is going to record and use electronically. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Thanks. I was sitting on front steps watching a majority of the 19 or so neighborhood kids play and looked up to the end of the street. And I literally laughed out loud.

  4. I remember some illegit “weather” sites talking about snow threat October 8 …. well … because the models showed it sometime back in September. Wonder if they still think that’s possible… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh yeah, the GFS shows mix/snow approaching southern New England on October 22. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Was that an away or home game? There were so many patriot fans in DC. One thing we need to realize is that the O-line is whats going to cost this team. Defense is amazing, we have good recievers but the O-line is putrid and in turn makes the running game not that good which makes it harder for the recievers to get open. I am concerned when it comes to facing the playoff teams.

  6. DP has gone up considerably since this morning. Now 57F at Logan and most other locations.

And according to Zack, tomorrow will be the last 70F.

    1. Forecasting the last 70F at this point is a very brave (and perhaps foolish) thing to do. We’ve hit 70 from mid October into November MANY times, even a few in December.
