Friday March 20 2026 Forecast (7:19AM)

DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 20-24)

We will say goodbye to winter and hello to spring in the astronomical sense today at 10:46 a.m. EDT, but we are not necessarily done seeing winter-like weather in the days ahead, as our overall pattern is chilly and still active with several weather systems to pass through the region. The first one will not have any frozen precipitation with it for our region as it passes through later today and this evening, with mild enough air that we just see a period of rain along the front parented by low pressure passing to our north. High pressure builds in for a nice day Saturday. The next low pressure system tracks across our region on Sunday, and its a bit of a race between a frontal boundary and the onset of precipitation to determine of any snow / sleet can be involved. Eventually this should be mostly rain for the region Sunday afternoon into evening, but as colder air is reinforced as the system starts to pull away, enough moisture can linger for some sleet and snow to become involved again at least in portions of the region before it tapers off during Monday. There are still some details to work out regarding this complex set-up. Current timing suggest high pressure builds back in with fair weather as a result for Tuesday.

TODAY: Sun followed by clouds. Late day rain arrives west to east. Highs 45-52. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy with evening rain. Breaking clouds and patchy fog overnight. Lows 38-45. Wind SW to W up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Sun / cloud mix. Highs 48-55. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows 40-47. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain, mainly midday and afternoon and favoring northern areas first, southern areas later, may start as snow / sleet in some areas mostly north of I-90. Highs 45-52 north of I-90 and on the South Coast with 52-59 in between these areas. Wind variable to N 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Periods of rain, some wet snow / sleet possible. Lows 32-39. Wind N to NE 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Rain / sleet / snow possible especially I-90 belt southward first half of the day. Highs 38-45. Wind N 10-20 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 22-29. Wind N 5-15 MPH,.

TUESDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 38-45. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (MARCH 25-29)

Unsettled weather chances March 25, 27, 29, any of which can include some frozen precipitation as temperatures run below normal.

DAYS 11-15 (MARCH 30 โ€“ APRIL 3)

Overall pattern looks mostly dry and on the cooler side of normal with one brief interruption from a passing disturbance or storm system, favoring mid period.

    Fail as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Echo that it is a good word, just one that didn’t cross my mind with the 3 middle letters in the correct spot amongst multiple opportunities.

    1. Welcome to group session for FAILURE!!! I guess it’s my turn to lead the meeting……

          1. Good try to you both. This took a lot of thought even with a fair amount of letters.

            A lucky Wordle 4 here

  3. I got Wordle in 4.

This is a common word but an uncommon collection of letters. It has no anagrams.

    1. Well done!!! Very nice 4. Tricky word. I NEVER had a chance with it. NOT even close!!! Words like this make me want to QUIT!!!

      1. My brain is simply NOT wired for this type of exercise.
Well wired for other things, But NOT for this. I KNEW this going in, but wanted to give it a whirl.

2 fails in the same week doesn’t make one feel so well.

If I fail tomorrow, I am DONE!!!!!

        1. Then weโ€™ll all hope for you to not fail. It would be sad if you didnโ€™t play here.

  4. Good morning and thanks TK.

          1. ?????????????????????????????????????????????

            “Sasin” refers primarily to the
Antilope cervicapra (blackbuck), an Indian antelope, and is also the name of the prestigious Sasin School of Management in Bangkok, Thailand. Other uses include the hummingbird species Selasphorus sasin, the Sasin Spraymaster aircraft, and the Korean term for death (์‚ฌ์‹ ).

  5. Thank you TK! As I was reading the first sentence I looked at the time and it just turned to 10:46. Happy Spring!

  6. Finally got to Wordle today and managed a lucky 4 like Vicki. Please do give up JPD, we all have our failed attempts.

    1. Please do? Maybe. I’ll see after tomorrow.
2 fails in one week is A pretty piss-poor performance. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Getting pretty frustrating.

      1. Oh no, I certainly did not mean please DO! That is what I get for typing too quick. We don’t want to lose you as a fellow Wordler.

  7. Ok, its been meteorological spring for and its now astronomical spring and some of next week looks quite chilly !!

Blah !!! Good school weather, I suppose ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Tom, has a date been decided on your last day of this academic year? I believe you mentioned either June 26 or 29.

      1. June 26th as we are doing a half day on Good Friday, April 3rd with absences being excused.

    1. You made it. Tom and I can see the train in the distance, but that’s as close as we can get to it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. The wind is brrrrr and strong. I never did get out to the deck. I did go out to add a squirrel proof feeder. My older daughter convinced me to leave the feeder the squirrel was getting into.

  9. Good p.m. all! And happy spring!

I went for a walk with my son through the Middlesex Fells this afternoon and it was very pleasant. The wind was a bit cool at the top of the hill we climb, otherwise it felt rather mild out there, being in the 50s. Timing worked out well. Not that we would have balked at walking in the rain, in fact it rained for our vernal equinox walk last year. But this time the rain held off nicely for us, and is about to move in.

Speaking of, I have no reason to do any big change to the forecast laid out above. But I still have to do a bit of work on Sunday’s details, which will be more distinctly spelled out in the update posted tomorrow morning.

    Have a good evening all!

  10. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Iโ€™d comment to all of them but it tells me Iโ€™m โ€œposting too fastโ€
