DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 10-14)
This is a 3-day week for many (if you work typical days and have Monday off) and the weather will be good to start, then slide downhill, only to recover slightly by the end of the 3-day period. High pressure sits atop our area now and made for a chilly but fairly calm start to the day, and it will be a pleasant day with not too much wind. Sunshine will become filtered much of the time through a veil of high cloudiness which is the northern reaches of the cloud deck associated with Isaias, which came ashore on the Gulf Coast last night as a category 2 hurricane. It has weakened quickly since then, already in the process before landfall due to strong wind shear, and of course typical overland weakening adding to that. The remains of this system, in mid latitude altered form, will bring heavier clouds into our region during Sunday and a batch of rain arriving during the afternoon, peaking in the evening and nighttime, and ending during Monday. An elongation of the upper low associated with the remains of this system means that showers may linger a little longer into Monday, though I am not expecting a steady rainfall that day. Partial clearing should be underway enough so that breaks of sun are possible before that day is over. A quick follow-up trough in the northern jet stream will approach and move into our region on Tuesday, bringing back plenty of cloud cover and some rainfall, likely showery in nature. There may be enough instability with this system to trigger a few thunderstorms. It all exits Wednesday with the return of dry weather, accompanied by a cool breeze.
TODAY: Sun becoming filtered by high clouds. Highs 61-68. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: High clouds dominate. Lows 35-42 inland low spots, 42-49 elsewhere. Wind variable under 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Thickening clouds. Rain chances increase southwest to northeast by later in the day. Highs 60-67. Wind variable becoming S up to 10 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Periods of rain. Lows 53-60. Wind S shifts to E 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog early. Chance of showers. Highs 60-67. Wind E shifts to N 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Partial clearing. Patchy fog. Lows 47-54. Wind N shifts to W up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely, especially in the afternoon, including the chance of a thunderstorm. Highs 61-68. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Showers likely. Lows 50-57. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of a shower mainly early in the day. Highs 58-65. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 15-19)
Passing disturbances / fronts can cause quick showers October 15, 17, and 19, but the overall pattern is dry with temperatures near to slightly below normal.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 20-24)
October 21-22 looks to be the greatest threat window for wet weather in an otherwise mostly dry pattern. Temperatures near to slightly below normal.
Thank you, TK. 44/43. Low of 40. Bright sunny morning. Hope you had a nice walk

Excellent 4 !
Joining you in the 4 car. Nice.
Thanks TK !
Cold last night on the campground, though I turned the heat on this morning after I woke up 🙂
Wordle: fail (3 of the last 5) took me so many guesses just to get the 1st, 2nd and 5th letters, that I didn’t have many guesses left from there.
I expect at least a 2 soon, lol.
Sorry Tom, having failed yesterday, I feel your pain.
I got Wordle in 3 today. That was very lucky since I had nothing on the first guess.
For today’s word, that is an OUTSTANDING score!!! Great job!!
Excellent SClarke !
The climate models NMME,ECMWF and even CANSIPS been getting warmer and warmer in the NE. I am not liking that trend.
Of course. what else would we expect.
The beaches will be open on New Year’s Day!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
One good thing, We’ll all be saving money on our heating bills. 🙂
Good morning and thank you TK.
52 up from low of 46 earlier.
Ocean: 58
Wordle: 4 Another common word for which most starting words are ineffective. After 2 guesses, I had 2 letters in position and 1 out of position. I had what I thought was a great guess for #3. NOPE, but it did move my 1 letter out of position into position. Now I had 3 letters in position, 2, 4 and 5. Still made NO sense to me. I could NOT come up with a word, so I started substituting letters, sooner or later I would hit something. BUT in the process a word appeared, not even in the valid list, HOWEVER, seeing this word brought another word to mind and that was the WORD. Funny how this game goes sometimes.
Great 4, JpDave !
Here is a little tune to start the day. This was featured in a new
Netflix series I am watching entitled BELOW
I certainly heard this tune before, but not in some time.
I REALLY REALLY Like this tune even though I customarily ONLY like Rock and more rock with an edge to it. But there is something about this tune that strikes me. It is kind of rock-a-billy/county/reel tune.
I hope you enjoy it.
