Wednesday August 19 2026 Forecast (7:27AM)

DAYS 1-5 (AUGUST 19-23)

Much like yesterday, we start today with lots of stratus cloud cover, though a little more broken and with less fog around this time. This is due to a light southwesterly air flow bringing moisture in ahead of an approaching cold front. This southwesterly flow will strengthen somewhat during the day today into tonight, with a pretty nice, albeit fairly humid summer day today with the stratus clouds giving way to more sunshine. We’ll stay rain free today and this evening. As the aforementioned cold front moves slowly across the region Thursday, it can trigger a few showers and thunderstorms, but I am not anticipating widespread coverage or any severe weather. Once the front goes by, it will slow down and become quasi-stationary just to our south and east. We then watch for a wave of low pressure to form on and move along the boundary. The guidance has had some trouble resolving the timing on this. Current trends indicate that a bout of showery weather may impact at least southern and some eastern portions of our region later Friday to early Saturday before moving away. The next trough from the west will approach later Sunday and may bring another shower and thunderstorm opportunity later that day. This scenario would leave much of the weekend rain-free, however, so I am still somewhat optimistic.

TODAY: Clouds give way to sun. Highs 80-87 except 73-80 Cape Cod. Dew point increases to lower 60s. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 62-69. Dew point 60+. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. Probable showers. Chance of thunderstorms. Highs 77-84. Dew point in 60s. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 61-68. Dew point falls just under 60. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Lots of sun, then increasing clouds. Highs 75-82. Dew point sub-60. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Fog patches. Chance of showers. Lows 60-67. Dew point 60+. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with shower chances to start ,then partly sunny. Highs 76-83. Dew point near 60. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 60-67. Dew point near 60. Wind S under 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Late-day showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs 78-85. Dew point in 60s. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 24-28)

Watch for a couple disturbances and shower chances, but overall more dry times than wet ones. Temperatures near normal.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 29 – SEPTEMBER 2)

Unsettled weather is most likely toward the end of the period. Temperatures somewhat variable, averaging around normal.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

73 up from 69 with dp 67. It is soupy again!! I can feel it big time.

    Ocean: 68

Wordle: a pissed off 5. Way too many choices!!!!

  2. What’s with these dew points???????????????????????????

    67 here

    68 at Logan
    69 at Norwood
    and 70 at Mansfield

  3. The approaching cool front is stirring the west and southwest winds.

But, it was less humid inland and that’s being affected to the coast, where dps have come down a bit this morning. It is in the 80s however, so this probably still feels pretty warm for some.

  4. Happy birthday to Mrs SClarke.

It’s also Mac’s birthday. I turned on music to l
Play in the background. The first four songs they played or songs very closely related to Mac. One was our song, Elvis’s I Can’t Help Falling in Love. Mac was a quiet man, but we’ve learned that he never sends just one Godwink. The first is always followed by at least one other if not more

  5. Thanks, TK.

    Still quite warm and humid.

You cannot imagine how much I sweat. All I did was walk about 1 mile and do shopping and laundry (our building’s machine is broken). I am truly dragging on August 19th. I know there’s light at the end of the tunnel. But the oppressive nature of this swamp-like weather (it feels to me like living in a swamp; any dewpoint over 60, frankly) has me down.

    1. Understand completely!!! My wife is the same way.
I don’t like it one bit, but it doesn’t totally destroy me.

  6. Miami Florida hit 100F yesterday. 100F temps there are very rare. The last time they got to 100F prior to August 18 2026 was July 21 1942! Only took 84 years to get back there!

Prior to 1942, the previous 100F reading occurred 65 years before, on June 28 1877!

  7. Another weather history tidbit…

August 17 1885: Los Angeles set a new daily high temp record of 104F.

August 18 1885: High of 102F, the second consecutive record breaking high.

August 19 1885: The high of 106F shatters the record for the date at Los Angeles, and also sets the August all time record high temperature, which still stands today.

Quite the stretch of heat for the City of Angels!

  8. Hot in LA and Miami. Not so much in Antarctica where it’s been a particularly cold winter.

“Antarctica’s current weather is extremely cold, with temperatures ranging from about -48°F at Vostok Station to around -92°F at the South Pole, accompanied by dangerous wind chills.”

And though I would not be able to do my outdoor run in these conditions, they somehow seem appealing to me compared to heat and humidity.

  9. Good luck to Bridgewater MA playing their first game in Williamsport at the little league world series right now on ESPN.

  10. Vicki – Thank you for the birthday wishes for my wife. It was a wonderful birthday at the beach. It was amazing how many other people were there to celebrate! 🙂

I’m glad that you had a very special day as well.

  11. LLWS:

Bayonne NJ 2, Bridgewater MA 1

A walk off HR by NJ. 🙁

I believe Bridgewater has one final opportunity to stay in it.

      1. They play again this Saturday as their final opportunity. Hopefully they can play a weaker team. Tonight’s game had no room for error!

        Opponent TBD.
