Sunday August 30 2026 Forecast (8:17AM)

DAYS 1-5 (AUGUST 30 – SEPTEMBER 3)

High pressure slips offshore and a disturbance approaches from the west northwest today, bringing in more cloud cover. While shower chances do increase later today, I’m not looking for widespread activity and the greatest chance will take place after sunset this evening. This disturbance moves beyond the region and Monday will feature fair weather with a narrow area of high pressure moving into the region. The west northwest flow pattern in place is a pretty fast one, and the next two disturbances follow in rapid succession bringing us a period of unsettled weather to start September on Tuesday and Wednesday. The second of these will be a big elongated on its back side so that while we see some partial clearing on Thursday, it will be a bit more humid and I can’t rule out an additional pop-up shower or thunderstorm that afternoon, based on current expecting timing for day 5. One thing we won’t be seeing: Late summer heat as in 90+. No sign of that.

TODAY: Sunshine most prominent morning, then variably cloudy with a passing shower possible afternoon. Highs 77-84. Dew point sub-60. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes then S up to 10 MPH late-day.

TONIGHT: Clouds dominate with a shower chance evening. Clouds decrease overnight. Patchy fog late. Lows 58-65. Dew point sub-60. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 76-83, coolest eastern coastal areas. Dew point sub-60. Wind W shifting to NE 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Fog patches. Lows 56-63. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely. Highs 66-73. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog. Chance of a shower. Lows 58-65. Wind variable to E up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers. Highs 67-74. Wind variable to E 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely. Lows 58-65. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Partly sunny. A shower or thunderstorm possible. Highs 70-77. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 4-8)

Current trend is for a trough to depart on September 4 which a shower is possible, then for high pressure to bring fair weather for Labor Day Weekend and holding on through the end of the period. Temperatures near to slightly below normal to start, then trending warmer late period.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 9-13)

Fair weather to start then a trend toward unsettled weather thereafter. Temperatures trend cooler again.

    1. We could sneak one in before it’s “too late” but there is NO sign of September 1983 coming up. It’s one place that the overused term “unprecedented” actually applies, along with Boston’s thirty days of 90+ heat.

I loved that summer. 🙂 It’s a giant neon sign on my nostalgia highway.

      1. Rough summer start to finish for me. I was in my first trimester with no AC. The following June was quite hot too. But I wouldn’t trade a second

  1. Thanks TK !

    Wordle: 5

As mild/comfortable yesterday was, the 3rd floor dorm room my daughter has was very warm !!

She has multiple fans. They were helping, when we headed out about 6pm.

My eldest at Bridgewater commuted freshman year, then lived off campus, so we never visited the cafeteria.

The modern day college cafeteria is awesome ! The food and its plentiful choices were top notch, I felt like I was back at the buffet area on Norwegian Cruise lines. So good ! I was like, I want to go back to college just for all the cooked meals 🙂

    1. Sounds very special. Glad your daughter is happily settled. Cafeteria sounds amazing!! And….I’d be happy to accompany you next time you visit.

  2. Today’s Sox -Yankees game is massive for the standings.

Sox win, they leave 2 behind. Lose and it’s 4 behind.

If I heard the commentators correctly, the season series must be tied 6-6 and so the winner of today’s game wins the season series, which means if they end up with the same end of season record, the winner of today’s game would host the 3 game playoff series.

      1. Just read again.

All the Florida Keys are great, lucky to stay in Islamorada in a rental for a week several February’s ago.

Islamorada may be my favorite Florida Key. It sure was nice !!!!!! Up there with Bahia Honda State park further west on the keys.

        1. We drove down to Key West and I remember thinking Islamorada was my favorite. Ted’s home was on the gulf. Interesting that both his homes (Miramichi) centered around his love of fishing

          1. Nice !!

Also been fortunate to take that drive to Key West a couple times.

That’s (the Keys) a great part of the world to fish !!!
