DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 28 – OCTOBER 2)
The long-duration storm system goes on and has 2 more days of impact, today being the bigger of the two, as we still have a gusty breeze and periodic rain as the now-weakening low has completed its loop to our southwest and will move east northeastward, passing just south of our region by later this evening. Periodic rain continue through the day before ending tonight and early Tuesday – southwest to northeast. Many clouds linger behind the low on Tuesday, but it will be a nicer day overall with less wind. High pressure builds in at midweek with fair, milder weather. A quick-moving cold front may bring a shower to the region Thursday night with a return to fair weather on Friday, and still mild, but a tad cooler than Thursday.
TODAY: Cloudy. Periodic rain. Highs 60-67. Wind NE 10-20 MPH inland, 15-30 MPH coast, higher gusts continue.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Rain tapers to showers then ends. Areas of fog. Lows 52-59. Wind N diminishing to under 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Highs 63-70. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 50-57. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Fog patches interior low elevations. Lows 52-59. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 3-7)
Fair and pleasant October 3. Watching the October 4-6 time frame for unsettled weather as low pressure makes a run at the region from the southwest, with fair weather following it. Temperatures near to slightly above normal.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 8-12)
Zonal flow pattern. A couple systems can bring shower threats but overall pattern is dry, seasonable to mild.

Still on the low side of area rain with a storm total of 2.89”. But then Tom (I think) pointed out it’s a lot of rain to be on the low side.
Was absolutely drenched in my morning run. Which, for the record, I love. The only thing I dislike are the deep pools of water not draining at random sections. Hingham has 5.38 inches of water across three days according to the gauge here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=G6013&hours=72

I spoke to my friend who works at the NE aquarium and is trained in aquatic life. This is what makes up sea foam. Ewwwww
“Sea foam is mostly made of decaying matter and urine and poop from animals. It’s the protein remove from the oceans. In fish tanks thats what is produce from the protien filters. So gross”

My rainfall total this morning was very close to Vicki’s. Had about 0.60″ new in the rain gauge since midnight when I left the house this morning for a storm total of just shy of 3″ and it was still raining steadily.

My granddaughter. This is not her horse. Hers is too young to be ridden. This is one of the several horses that my granddaughter exercise for other borders. She rides with her legs, not her hands. No saddle, no bridal just a halter. She’s a lovely gentle rider like her mom.

NWS cancelled all flood watches related to rainfall / rivers.
As previously mentioned, this was not much of a threat, despite some pretty big rain amounts. 1) The river system was not high, so it was ready to take it in. 2) It occurred over a spread out period of time, and not all “in several hours”. Makes a huge difference, and this is why I did not play up the inland river / stream flood threat. Hydrology is directly tied to meteorology. I’ve paid attention to this stuff for a long time. 🙂

I feel like today’s rain hit some areas largely missed by the first 2+ days of the event, such as western Mass, western CT and maybe southern VT and NH.
Perhaps it gets the 1 inch contour all the way out into those areas for the entire event.
Water temperature at the George’s Bank Buoy is 74.5. Could this buoy be correct with the observation? Or is the north wall of the Gulf Stream temporarily further north?
Was out to Defham this afternoon. Traffic. Was insane and visibility was low in very heavy drizzle or small rai. Drops. Take your pick.
