Thursday October 1 2026 Forecast (6:57AM)

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 1-5)

Into October we go! And the month will open up with a short-lived summer post-script as high pressure slides offshore and delivers anomalous warmth from the southwest today and Friday. Quite a bit of cloudiness greets us this morning as a disturbance passes by but sun will take back over during the day. Clouds make a come-back later Friday as a cold front approaches, set to put an end to the brief return of summery weather. This front can produce a few showers Friday evening before it heads offshore and sets up a cooler (seasonable) weekend. Fair weather is a lock for Saturday as high pressure builds in. Sunday’s weather remains a bit of a question mark as the front will not be that far to the south and will be a running board for an area of low pressure. This low will pass south of our region late Sunday and early Monday while at the same time a trough and associated surface low will race across southeastern Canada, dragging a cold front our way. Guidance has been all over the place regarding rainfall, but for now I am leaning toward just a graze of rain in southeastern areas during the Sunday midday to evening time frame, with a complete miss of this rain area still possible. This energy does not phase with the energy coming along a stronger northern jet stream, so a larger storm system will not occur in our area. The cold front associated with the system crossing Canada will move through our region on Monday with perhaps a passing shower, after which will will have a reinforcing shot of cooler air along with a gusty breeze.

TODAY: Clouds give way to more sun. Highs 72-79. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 55-62. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, but more clouds arrive west to east late-day. Highs 75-82. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows 53-60. Wind SW 5-15 MPH shifting to NW.

SATURDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 65-72. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 42-49 except 45-52 coastline and urban centers. Wind N under 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Clouding up. Rain chance favors southern RI and southeastern MA afternoon. Highs 61-68. Wind N to variable up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A rain chance early Cape Cod. Lows 50-57. Wind variable to S 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of a shower. Highs 58-65. Wind SW 10-20 MPH and gusty, shifting to NW.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 6-10)

Fair weather and below normal temperatures early in the period then a recovery to milder mid period. Another cold front brings a shower chance then a return to cooler weather toward the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 11-15)

Westerly air flow in a split flow pattern with the northern jet stream controlling our weather here. This pattern is an up-and-down temperature pattern with a couple brief shower chances, otherwise mainly dry.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.

    Ocean: 59

Wordle: a phew! 6. Thought I would fail for sure.

Red Sox were a real Ughernaught!!! Pathetic!
Their starters were fine, but were taken out too early. This Milller guy was a bag of wind and totally useless. AND they proved to be a bunch of banjo hitters. Onto next year when I hope they can acquire a real hitter or 2.

    Bruins and Celtics time.

I shudder to think how the Patriots fare in the Buffalo game.

    1. Yes.

Statistically and that’s unfortunately how baseball is run now, there’s no gut moves anymore ….. statistically, Sonny Gray had his lowest batting average against him the 3rd time through the lineup, it was under .200 He was at 70 pitches. Crazy !!
