DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 14-18)
Last night’s showers & thunderstorms have given way to this morning’s fog (in many areas mostly north of I-90) as a warm front lifted across the region, but it will dry out enough for sunshine to return to the areas that are fogged in, at least in part, during today, pushing temperature to warmer levels than what yesterday’s heavier overcast and onshore air flow allowed. We do have a cold front to pass through the region from west to east during this afternoon, and it may produce a quick-passing shower, so while it ends up a decent day to be outside, it’s still wise to look out for that potential quick interruption. This front will lead a seasonably cooler air mass into our region tonight and Thursday as high pressure builds in, making Thursday the “pick of the week” for sunshine, tolerable temperature, and relative tranquility – though there will be a breeze enough to notice. High pressure departs Thursday night and our next low pressure visit comes from the west during Friday. The low itself tracks north of our area late Friday. This track drags a warm front through our region Friday, preceded by some rainfall during the pre-dawn to midday window. I’ve been struggling with the timing of the cold front, which short range guidance has me nearly convinced it’s an evening passage west to east, when another round of showers is possible. Between this can come many rain free hours with some potential partial sunshine with breaks in the clouds in the low’s warm sector. As the cold front moves through then offshore early Saturday, it does temporarily slow enough so that some cloudiness will likely linger into Saturday morning, but any remaining shower activity should be confined to Cape Cod. Otherwise, Saturday will feature a sun / cloud mix and it will be much cooler along with a gusty wind. In fact, the temperature / wind combination is going to make it feel more like November. High pressure does push eastward, closer to the region, keeping it cool but relaxing the wind somewhat on Sunday, a day that will feature more sunshine.
TODAY: Clouds / fog across southern NH and northern MA to start the day with just patchy fog / clouds to the south, then a sun / cloud mix regionwide including the chance of a passing rain shower during the first half of the afternoon from west to east. Highs 67-74. Wind SW increasing to 5-15 MPH with higher gusts, shifting to NW by later in the day.
TONIGHT: Clearing. Lows 40-47. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 57-64. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Rain arrives west of I-95 pre-dawn. Lows 42-49. Wind variable to SE up to 10 MPH.
FRIDAY: Cloudy with rain and areas of fog morning. Clouds may break for sun at times afternoon. Highs 62-69. Wind SE up to 10 MPH early becoming SW 10-20 MPH afternoon.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Showers most likely in the evening from west to east across the region. Lows 40-47. Wind SW shifting to NW 10-20 MPH, gusts 25 MPH or greater.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy early, then a sun / cloud mix. Highs 46-53. Wind NW 15-25 MPH, gusts 30 MPH or greater.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, then clearing. Lows 27-34 interior southern NH and central MA, 35-42 elsewhere, warmest urban centers and immediate coastal areas. Wind NW diminishing to 5-15 MPH.
SUNDAY: Abundant sunshine. Highs 55-62. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, diminishing late in the day.
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 19-23)
High pressure slides off to the southeast with a milder west to southwest air flow and fair weather early next week. Next disturbance / frontal system brings a shower chance later in the period.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 24-28)
Brief shower chance about October 24 or early October 25 with a passing frontal system. Unsettled weather chance returns later in the period. Temperatures variable, but not too far from seasonable.

I KNEW it wouldn’t be that cold. I even told my wife about 52 will be more like it on Saturday. I wouldn’t be surprised if Logan reached 55. We shall see.
