Friday October 16 2026 Forecast (7:28AM)

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 16-20)

A quick-moving low pressure area will pass north of our region today and tonight. It’s warm front brings us some rainfall this morning to midday before a break, with just a chance of a brief shower in the warm sector this afternoon. The low’s cold front will move across the region with showers and perhaps a thunderstorm – with the greatest chance of the latter being to the southwest of Boston (RI, eastern CT). The cold front will temporarily slow down as it exits, close enough for clouds to linger across the region and a shower chance to exist over southeastern areas into part of Saturday morning before it swings offshore. It will turn out to be a windy and much cooler day as well behind the departing front as its parent low intensifies in Atlantic Canada. High pressure builds toward the region with continued cool weather but diminishing winds as we move through the weekend. When we get to early next week we’ll see a blocking pattern that features high pressure to our north and low pressure to our south. The former should be close enough to keep our weather dry while the latter remains far enough south to keep rain away, though we may see its cloud shield in the sky, especially southern areas.

TODAY: Cloudy morning with a period of two of showers. Clouds can break for sun at times afternoon with a chance of a quick-passing shower. Highs 62-69. Wind SE up to 10 MPH early becoming SW 10-20 MPH afternoon.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Numerous showers west to east evening including the chance of a thunderstorm. Additional showers possible mainly east of I-95 and south of I-90 overnight. Lows 41-48. Wind SW 5-15 MPH shifting to NW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy through late morning including a chance of additional showers South Coast to MA South Shore, then a sun / cloud mix. Highs 48-55. Wind NW 15-25 MPH, gusts 30 MPH or greater.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, then clearing. Lows 27-34 interior southern NH and central MA, 35-42 elsewhere, warmest urban centers and immediate coastal areas. Wind NW diminishing to 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY: Abundant sunshine. Highs 52-59. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, diminishing late in the day.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 33-40. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Sun becoming filtered by high clouds, also some lower clouds possible near the coast. Highs 57-64. Wind variable becoming E up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT / TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Highs 56-63. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 21-25)

General large scale set-up is high pressure to the north, low pressure to the south of our area. Leaning toward high pressure in control enough for dry weather, but keeping watch on the potential for low pressure to get close enough to spread cloudiness and potential wet weather at least into southern areas. This pattern should hold through this period, so there is a lot of uncertainty in next week’s forecast at this time.

DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 26-30)

Return to a west to east (zonal) flow pattern with up and down temperatures and brief rain shower chances. Details TBD.

        1. I thought I had a chance with guesses 3 and 4, as I had the first 3 letters in the correct spot after guess 2. 🙂

  1. 6z RRFS has 48 in Boston tomorrow PM and 34 for Sunday AM. We’ll feel that should it verify. WIinter is on the way, still a way to go, but it is coming.

Pete was interesting last night as he presented the NOAA winter outlook. You had to kind of interpret what he was saying, but what I got out of it was there will be some Nor’easters and even with el nino, some could be snow. Don’t give up all you snow lovers out there, myself included. WE shall see.

  2. Thank you. TK. 52/49. We hit a low of 42 after midnight, but at 2;00am the temp started to rise. By 5:00 we’d warmed back up to 52.

  3. I was nervous about using word finder for fear it’d give me the answer. So I went back to the two starter words I’ve used from the start.

    Wordle 3.

  4. Wordle 3. Random word finder was zilch (not the word, just 0 ) on first guess, but eliminated enough of the vital letters that second guess provided 4 out of 5 letters with 2 in correct position.
