DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 25-29)

High pressure #1 sits atop us to start today then sinks to the south making it a day that starts cold and turns milder, with plenty of sun. Tonight chills off again under a clear sky but the warm-up Monday is even more pronounced with a southwest wind, until a moisture-starved cold front switches the wind back to northwest Monday night and Canadian high pressure moves in to start the cycle over Tuesday into midweek as the dry, up-and-down temperature pattern continues!

TODAY: Sunny. Highs 60-67. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 36-43. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 63-70. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 37-44. Wind SW to NW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Sunny. Highs 52-59. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 28-35. Wind NW under 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 32-39. Wind SW under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Sunny. Highs 60-67. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 30 – NOVEMBER 3)

High pressure shifts to the south and it is mild and dry October 30 but another moisture-starved front brings yet another Canadian high in for the October 31 / November 1 weekend with fair weather and a slight cool-down. Halloween Evening looks dry and pleasantly cool. Watch for low pressure from the west to bring a brief chance of rain about November 2 (may pass mostly to south) with another high bringing fair weather back to end the period.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 4-8)

Unsettled weather potential early to mid period, then fair weather returns. Temperatures near normal.

    1. Nice 4. I had last 3 letters in position after 2 guesses at which time I immediately came up with 2 words. Unfortunately I chose the wrong word for guess 3.

      Oh well, that’s wordle.

    1. Perhaps, but in conversing with the organizers, they acknowledged this was somewhat experimental and they are open to suggestions and adjustments.

  1. Vicki, you’re not the only one. I got it in 5, even though I had letters 2-5 in correct position on 3rd try. I, too, always seem to choose the wrong letter. As an aside the NYT analysis bot called me old yesterday. When it reviewed my choices, it wrote “good command of vocabulary, however that word hasn’t been in popular use for many years. We would not consider using that word for a game today.” Since I’m sure everyone is done with yesterday’s game, the word I chose was “lovey.”

    1. If I am not mistaken, that was one of my choices yesterday on my way to a big fat 6!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Nice 5 today.

  2. On my 2nd Wordle guess, I had the 4th letter correct and a another letter in the wrong position. I got it on the 3rd guess, which was a pleasant surprise. I was very lucky.

  3. Our current temperature is 45. At the top of Mt. Washington, it’s 53.

Today is the last day that the Cog Railway will go to the summit until some time next spring.

  4. Thank you TK!

Wordle: 5 – happy to join Vicki and it will be football and snacks in our car for all who want to visit!

  5. Today is our annual Lions Club Halloween Parade, and it’s about as perfect a day as you can have for it! Not too cold for spectators, not too warm (or too cold) for participants. Not much wind, just a light southwest breeze.

Just a fabulous day, unlike this date in 1925 when a tornado moved through a portion of where the parade route is now (Woburn center area eastward to the Stoneham line). This tornado also cut across the northeastern side of Woods Hill. There was one death and several injuries caused by the storm.
