Tuesday October 27 2026 Forecast (7:11AM)

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 27-31)

A cold front moved through overnight. Other than some lingering higher clouds born of cool air advection over the mountains to our northwest and some low clouds coming off the ocean on the MA South Shore for a time this morning, we’ll see plenty of sun today but it will be notably cooler than yesterday. High pressure builds right over the region for a clear, calm, cold night tonight and a sunny day with a decent temperature recovery Wednesday. The high sinks to the south and we warm up a bit more Thursday into Friday. Low pressure passes to our north and drags two frontal boundaries through the region Friday and Friday night. The first doesn’t have much of a chill behind it so Friday will be mild. Cooler air will come in behind the second boundary for Saturday. Halloween Evening looks dry and pleasantly cool with fairly light wind at this time.

TODAY: Patchy clouds early, then sunny. Highs 52-59. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 28-35. Wind NW under 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 32-39. Wind SW under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Sunny. Highs 62-69. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 43-50. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Sun / cloud mix. Highs 65-72. Wind SW shifting to NW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 33-40. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 58-65. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, diminishing.

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 1-5)

High pressure hangs on for dry weather for the first day of November and the end of the weekend in which we switch from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time (2:00 a.m. Sunday, clocks move to 1:00 a.m.). Disturbances bring wet weather chances November 2 and again November 4 and/or 5, but neither of these look too impressive with dominant high pressure to the north of our region.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 6-10)

Indications for high pressure again becoming dominant with a mainly dry and seasonable to mild temperature pattern.

  1. Good morning and thank yiu TK

47 and that is the low

Ocean; 56. I believe this to be “about” 4 degrees above average for this time of year.

    Wordle: 4

Yet another spectacular day on tap for us. What a beautiful stretch of weather.

    1. I just wonder how all the fish fared throught this project.
My favorite spring fishing spot is no more. If the state still stocks this portion of the river, I may give it a whirl for old time sake, but it will not be the same. Not even close.

  2. Thanks TK !

    Wordle: 4

Then just past full moon was a lot higher in the western sky this morning, much easier to see. It looked awesome !!

  3. Thank you, TK. The cold front must have gone through here around 3:30. We held to 50 till then

40 now which is Also our low.

  4. Low 50s, dps in the upper 20s

As TK describes, high pressure overhead tonight ….

It will be cold by 8pm, likely dropping into the 30s in suburbia by then.

I find under these conditions, it makes extra noticeable how low in the sky the sun is by late afternoon and how early it is setting now, even before the time change. Chill/cold sets in so fast in the evening.

      1. Look at that over the pacific, south of alaska, a strong westerly flow of air, spending a ton of time over the Pacific, eventually coming ashore in western Canada, essentially feeding relatively mild pacific air into all of Canada, not letting any early season polar air masses form.

  5. I looked into that hurricane above.

It did make landfall in India.

If I recall correctly, that ocean basin is also affected by El Niño and like the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean sees a decrease in activity during El Niño.

It was the A storm or first storm of the entire season, unfortunately, it looks like it was somewhat significant.

  6. Here’s your afternoon check-in from the person who wrote the blog… 😉

Once again, no changes to what’s written. If anything though, the medium range guidance continues to trend a little drier.

Hints are for a mild/dry first half of November with short-lived cool shots.

  7. I mean, what we’ve seen in the pacific hurricane season, what we haven’t seen in the Caribbean and Atlantic or now the Indian Ocean.

These 3-4 week model 850 mb anomolies at 850 mb.

Yeeeesh, the signals are screaming that the whole hemisphere’s atmosphere is greatly affected by El Niño.

Still +4.4C anomolies right in the eastern most El Niño region and up even a bit more to plus 3.6C in the next region west of that.

I think we’re in for some wild times once this quiet run ends.

Whether that means crazy atmospheric rivers on the west coast or an intense Gulf of Mexico to Atlantic Ocean mid latitude cyclone or temps 5C or more above avg in the northern tier or all of the above, it should be interesting.

    1. There’s even the possibility that other indices mute those potentials and it’s nothing like it’s being advertised.

  8. I wonder what happened to WBZ’s new fancy-schmancy weather studio. Lately it’s looked like they are back to the old one, which I prefer. And you kids – get off my lawn!! 🙂

  9. that bushfire out in western Mass/NY 200 acres luckily around 70% contained but its in some romote areas. Looks mainly like the lower brush/dried leaves being the source with the trees not actually burning.

It will be interesting how the next month or so goes with rainfall in my area but everything is extremely green and lush at the moment. People are worried about bushfire here in Australia this summer but I am not this fire season but the following. People say here its usually the season after El-Nino that gives the big fires.

  10. It is a special tribute to Jim Boyd. On channel 5 tonight. It’s nice to see Natalie Jacobson too.

    May he rest peacefully?

    1. Hate when they pass as I feel very connected to all of them as I’ve been watching ch 5 since I was a young boy growing up in Marshfield & now I’m 55. He seemed & obviously was a great guy. RIP Jim
