DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 29 – NOVEMBER 2)
No changes. High pressure dominates. The first area of high pressure sinks to the south of our region today allowing a warm-up. A cold front moves through with clouds tonight and early Friday and shifts the wind, and a cooler high pressure area moves in from Canada for the weekend, but not before Friday is another mild day waiting for a secondary boundary to move through later in the day before the cooler air starts to move in. For Halloween on Saturday, it will be clear, calm, and quickly cooling off in the evening with temps falling from highs in the 50s into and through the 40s, but without any notable wind. Daylight Saving Time ends and standard time returns on Sunday morning when 2:00 a.m. EDT becomes 1:00 a.m. EST. What once looked like a low pressure area to bring a rain chance Monday now looks like only a weak disturbance with some clouds around that day, but the weather currently looks dry.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 62-69. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clouds move in. Lows 46-53. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Clouds move out / sun returns. Highs 65-72. Wind SW shifting to NW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 33-40. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, diminishing.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 26-33 except 34-41 coastal & urban areas. Wind calm.
SUNDAY: Sun and high clouds. Highs 56-63. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Wind S under 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Highs 57-64. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 3-7)
Greatest threat of wet weather is about November 6 in an otherwise mostly dry and mild pattern.
DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 8-12)
Disturbance or two with potential unsettled weather in the November 10-12 period. Temperatures near to above normal.
Thanks TK
This day in weather history the 2011 October Nor’easter. I ended up getting a foot of heavy wet snow and without power for a few days. A year later Superstorm Sandy.
A much quieter weather day today.
Only 2 inches here as there was a mix for a long time. And when I say mixed it was mostly rain with some snow flakes mixed in. It took a long time before the mix became more snow and finally all snow.
Is that the one where Brady threw 5 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter, perhaps against the Tennessee Titans.
Pre-game, it was pouring rain and then during the first half, it was silver dollar snow flakes that dropped a couple inches during the first half?
You got me.
Would that game have been on a Saturday?
I’m not sure 🙂
Nope. The Pats did not play in New England on Saturday.
They played in Pittsburgh on Sunday October 30.
I had a feeling it wasn’t on Saturday
Thanks TK !
Wordle: 4
I will trade the 5pm darkness for some morning light again. I get up at 7am and its still basically dark and that makes it quite challenging to move.
Love the warmth returning today.
I will join you in the 4 car.
I was noticing that when I got up at 7AM. It was dark. NO SUNSHINE AT ALL.
Nice 4 Tom.
Nice 4s, JPD and Tom
Thank you.
Thanks, Vicki !
The winter that followed the 2011 October Nor’easter was a total dud in terms of snowfall.
Indeed it was!!! A real STINKER!!!
Good morning and thank you TK
48 up from 46
Ocean: 55. Historical average: 54
Wordle: 4. I am pleased with that considering I got NOTHING with my first guess.
Very nice 4, JpDave and indeed, a nice recovery with your first guess yielding nothing.
Thanks Tom. I thought I was in trouble, but 2 nd and third guesses got the job done.
Last night, my wife asked, what is with the coastal flooding?
And, like was stated here yesterday, I said the full moon nearing perigee …….
They were about 36 hrs separated.
Which brings us to both ThanksGiving and Christmas Day.
12 ft massive tides both days.
I think the full moon and perigee are within 24 hrs the next cycle in November and quite possibly at the same time in late December.
We made it through this cycle without any onshore wind, but as one can see, there is virtually no room to take any kind of surge. Any moderate kind of storm ThanksGiving Day or on Christmas and unfortunately, some will have to deal with coastal flooding.
Ok, I looked it up.
Perigee took place 2 days, 13 hrs after Monday’s full moon
In November, perigee occurs 1 day, 6 hrs after full moon
December: just 7 hrs after the full moon
Little give and take here.
When the get closer to coinciding, you have maybe 3 massive king tide sets, whereas this month, it’s been perhaps 5 sets of very high tides, but not to the level of what is coming in Nov and Dec.
Great info. Thank you, Tom!
Thank you, TK. 42/41. Low of 38. First time DP broke 40 in a bit.
Wordle 5
As I type, there are gun shots very close by. Must be hunting season. Turkeys maybe.
Nice 5, Vicki.
Poor Birds 🙂
Agree.
yay 5
Aren’t wild turkeys pretty gamey? Not like to raised turkeys.
Why would people want to hunt them?????
Not the same bird as served on Thanksgiving.
I think there is an extended deer hunting season to cull the herds.
That could be it. I just guessed at Turkey. And you might guess that I am not a fan of hunting just to cull.
Ugh.

Wordle 5
Nice 5.
So far we have 2 4s and 2 5s. 3 anyone? anyone? Bueller?
Very nice. Happy to have company!!
I got Wordle in 3. But I have to thank the Random 5 Letter Word Finder. Today, it gave me 1, 4, and 5 in correct position. According to NYT analysis bot, that left only 3 words, 2 of which had the same vowel. So, in essence 3 was a fail, as it was the only word remaining.
Wow! Excellent
I got Wordle in 3 today.
We took advantage of the late sunrise at this time and were at Hampton Beach for a great sunrise.
And he strikes again! Great job!
Super threes Bill and SClarke.
Now we board two by two
Is this the NOAH train? Well, since we are boarding 2 by 2. 🙂
Great 3’s SClarke and Bill !
57/49 here for a milder day as expected. 🙂
Dr. Cohen Is at it again predicting an Historic polar vortex collapse coming within days threatening parts of US with bitter cold
https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/extreme-weather-events/historic-polar-vortex-collapse-coming-within-days-threatening-parts-of-us-with-bitter-cold/ar-AA2ggucr?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=U531&cvid=6ae34c74b17e4e02af189afa7b6f7158&ei=17&cvpid=6ae360e061624d49ac465a142c62b4ab
Yes, I’ve seen a few others losing their minds out in the weather internet world.
I don’t dispute there is a SSW event ongoing and that it may disrupt the vortex,
But, LMAO, Hudson Bay is ice free, there aren’t really any arctic airmasses formed yet. Yet, you’d think February arctic cold and snow potential were on the way.
If it disrupted, could we get an east coast trof and highs in the 40s with lows in the 20s for a couple days, sure !
Could we even get some wet snow in the interior if a storm ever went south of us if the cold air is nearby, sure !
Are we going to get days below 32F for highs and feet of snow, nope !!
Agree! But that article was written like we were on the verge of Armageddon!!!!
That’s what I mean.
The weather enthusiasts out there who have these blogs, they treat the November atmosphere like it can behave like the February atmosphere.
But, I find those who love cold and snow, many want it so bad that they cant help themselves and stop thinking. Can it get chilly and wet snow potential, sure. Can, as you accurately describe, it bring mid winter Armageddon, of course not.
(in November)
Not for nothing, but it can get pretty damn chilly the end of November. Doesn’t happen often, but every now and then it does. Happened one Thanksgiving not too long ago.
Indeed !
Thank you TK!
Wordle: I am here to announce that the 3’s are now leading the pack. A lucky 3 for sure!
Yay, Sue ! Awesome !!
Tremendous!
Thanks TK, way above.
The snow game I mentioned took place on October 18th, 2009.
So, wow, it REALLY snowed early that year.
66 with a 53 DP. Highest DP in quite a while
We hit what I suspect will be our high of 70. The DP is 53
https://stormhq.blog/2026/10/29/weekend-outlook-october-30-november-2-2026/
68/53 here and that looks to be our high. We shall see it it nudges upward any. I doubt it.
Drake Maye has completed at least 75% of his passes in 4 games this season, which is the most in NFL history to this point for a QB under age 25.
Nice
Kirk outlives Picard …. Wow 🙁
Patrick Stewart died of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Sad. 🙁
Stewart was 86 and Shatner is 95 and looking good. I believe he’s still acting as well.
Isn’t today the anniversary of the 1991 “Perfect Storm” as well? Or do I have my dates wrong?
Certainly close if not the date.
It was a multi-day event with the 30th & 31st being “peak” in our area for wind, rain, coastal impact.
I recall that too
We went down to Humarock shortly after. In the middle of the main street, there was a literal mountain sand that had been piled up after being washed assure. Someplace I have photos
Also, the house that we rented for years starting in 2007 was originally a small smaller house and there are newspaper photos of it sitting in the middle of the river
NO changes to my outlook after reviewing 12z info!
There’s going to be a lot of uncertainty and inconsistency showing up in medium range guidance, particularly out beyond day 7, as we head into (and probably through) November with an AO dive, the magnitude of it still being somewhat in question (despite the scenarios you are seeing on social media).
I think the sswe thats forcasted is likely to happen but what i think it does is push cooler air down only temporarily and if its a true event allows the pv to restrengthen in line with el nino and that hybrid PDO look and lock the real cold away through first half of actual winter. Sorry for being pestimistic
Thanks, TK!
