  1. This past week, Dutch test positivity went up to around 1% (yes, that’s not a typo – 1%) and the public health agency is concerned. Numbers of cases on a daily basis went up to around 140 per day (country of 17.5 million), and the public health agency is concerned. It considers this a “wake up call.”

This tells you how relatively lightly many of our states are taking this. Even in Massachusetts, our numbers are not even close to what Holland’s are. Test positivity here is around 1.7% and numbers of new cases around 200 per day (population 6.8 million). And, we say (myself included) we’re doing well.

People ask why many Europeans could open their schools, well, it’s because they suppressed the virus, as it having test positivity below 1%. by contrast, our nationwide test positivity is 9.2%.

The other day Cuomo said test positivity above 5% would alarm him. He should communicate with the public health agency in Holland. They’d let him know that anything above 1% worries them.

In the Dutch article you will see NO mention of masks. It’s not something the Dutch believe protects well. The focus continues to be hygiene and physical distancing.

    1. I continue to be discouraged by many in our country. Nothing the Dutch or any other country says will make a difference. Our medical experts, scientists, infectious disease experts have all pleaded with us to social distance. We do not. As I said yesterday, I absolutely agree with social distancing being the very best of the best. We refuse. That makes masks a less effective alternative but a definite alternative.

Heck, what has possessed anyone, including our pediatricians, to endorse the three foot distance for schools reopening?

And on top of Informing the country that wearing a mask is an infringement on rights, the man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has now decided it is patriotic. And wonder where the confusion and mixed messages stem from.

      1. Agree. Agree. Agree.

Also, while it’s fine that we’ll have briefings again starting this afternoon they should rarely if ever be centered around the president. They should be like in every other country. Public health officials speak to the nation, update them on what’s happening, recommend safe practices. Once a week or perhaps even less frequently the president can then speak for 15 minutes to confirm what the public health officials had to say. Instead of this, we get a circus show.

By the way, Holland’s Fauci, Jaap van Dissel:

        And, Holland’s Birx, Aura Timen:

        1. If there are any briefings to be done, it should be by Dr. Fauci or other medical experts. Nothing but total misinformation otherwise.

Weren’t we supposed to be done with Covid by Easter? 😉

Not to mention “bleach” and “hydroxyl” as treatments. 😉

        2. Agree. But they are not briefings….they are hate filled, divisive campaign speeches. And they are full of lies. He insists we are doing better than most countries, while in truth we are the worst of the lot. How does anyone believe him when the facts are staring them in the face

  2. Hey we had the first covid speech from the president since April. He advocates for masks and says it may get worse.

He said we are doing more testing and might have forgotten we are doing more testing because we have far and away more cases.

He credited the liberal states for doing well while the conservative states are not doing well…wait what? That last part may not be accurate. I will have to check my sources and will get back to you.
