  1. Abbott 36 hours ago at an indoor event. See tweet below. Looks like not-so-great ventilation. Crowded space. Mainly older folks. I am sorry, but in a region with high transmission of a deadly virus (and relatively low vaccination rate) you cannot be doing this sort of thing. Period. https://twitter.com/LincolnWatchman/status/1427743498372014086

No other high-ranking government official in Western Europe, Canada, Japan, etc … would be doing what Abbott did. None. They don’t hold crowded events. It’s a uniquely American phenomenon of totally flouting rules and protocol. Been happening since April 2020. Pence was a big time flouter (constantly), and he was the Coronavirus Task Force Chair.

I guess we want to aim high, as in 1 million Covid-19 deaths. We’ll get there if we continue to act like idiots. If you think I’m kidding, look no further than the latest CDC ensemble prediction: https://twitter.com/wsbgnl/status/1427703818196717574

Man, are we embarrassing ourselves on the world stage. Afghanistan is bad enough. And yes, I’m talking to you, Biden, and not just Trump. But, to be suffering as badly as we are right now on the Covid-19 front – almost as badly as Brazil – is inexcusable and entirely self-inflicted. Here, I’m mostly talking to governors of states that are purposely undermining efforts at containment (and impeding universal vaccinations), but I am also talking to the Biden Administration. Ultimately, it falls on the executive branch to be the voice of leadership, messaging, coordination, and crafting a feasible path forward. I’m barely seeing any of that right now.

    1. Certainly not sticking up for Pence, but if I recall, he actually stayed away from WH events (probably coincidently) like that Rose Garden super spreader in which Trump passed it on to those who attended and eventually to the FLOTUS and his young son.

    2. He is fully vaccinated. He is being treated with regeneron. He was testing daily which may work for him but clearly not for anyone he was near two to four days prior.

That ship of fools we are on continues to sink.

I can’t even touch on Biden and his lack of any plan to protect tens of thousands as we pull out of Afghanistan. There is no defense. As for covid, the administration and our governors and many health officials are failing us and US.

    3. Agree Joshua.

And Baker isn’t much better! He stubbornly still REFUSES
to issue any mask mandates. He’s no better than the neanderthals down south.

      Frankly, I am DISGUSTED!!!!

  2. Mask mandate on all public transportation will be extended through January 18, 2022.

As for the airlines, more Flight Attendents are now taking self defense courses, and the Flight Attendents Union is hoping the Federal government will make those courses mandatory for all employees.

At least the MBTA here doesn’t have those “mask” issues. No mask, no ride. Period.

    1. Happy to see that many of the school officials are brighter than there dumbass governor! Who elects idiots like these???????

  3. I´m looking forward to a booster shot at my 8 month mark from vaccination and plan to wear a mask in school, regardless of what our district decides.

I think, with vaccination, a booster and common sense mask wearing, those that have vaccinated and make good choices should still feel good about things. (just my 2 cents 🙂 )

      1. Sadly, I don’t trust people. Not the majority but a large number. Too many sent kids with covid last year. Too many adults were out and about knowing they were contagious

    1. Predicted this late 2019 not 2020: rolling lockdowns and masks forever. I stand by this now for at least the next 5 yrs.

    1. Dave – is it a replacement from phillips themselves or did you have to order a totally different one from a different company? If it’s the latter – what one did you get and from what company/site or was it through your docs office?

      1. I am getti g s brand new unit from same Company. I do not believe it is a Phillips. Will let you know when it arrives. My insurance is pretty good. 9 monthly copays and I own it.
        1st mo $48, next 8 months, $11

  4. I just finished listening to another BodH meeting with SC members present. That town, along with many others, adopted a mask policy for all with exceptions for disabilities, outdoors, etc to be revisited mid October. This seems to be the norm for all I have listened to.

Recently, Police had to remove two parents from a similar meeting in a nearby town.

    1. I’m hearing many SC meetings are now having police present. I had heard the chairman of the board at the meeting today thank an officer.

  5. I am continuing to receive emails regarding boosters from my healthcare providers. I will officially be 61 come November but from what I have been hearing, EVERYONE should receive boosters regardless of age or health.

I heard that the booster distribution begins officially in September. Is that definite now?

In one of my emails from my healthcare provider, those who initially received the J&J should NOT get a booster at this time. I received the Pfizer so it wouldn’t apply to me anyway.

    1. Will we have to get boosters the same place we go the other shots. As it turns out where my wife and I got our shots is in a heavily UNVACCINATED area. Would rather get booster elsewhere. I am hoping we can do that.

  6. CDC should be paying attention to Israel but also the UK. Better vaccinated countries, to be sure. But this may amplify the reason to pay close attention. The UK caseload, hospitalizations, and deaths are rising again. School hasn’t yet started there (once it does, cases will further increase with spillover effects to more vulnerable populations). Our trajectory will follow the UK’s but be worse, undoubtedly. We really need to get our act together. Otherwise, we could be seeing a `new normal’ for a long time of, say, 500 deaths a day, hospital systems under nearly constant pressure in at least 30% of the country, and a demoralized healthcare workforce. Here’s the very latest UK data. https://twitter.com/UKCovid19Stats/status/1428009803184578567

  7. According to Biden, boosters are to be received 8 months after your 2nd dose.

    My dose #3 = 12/22/21

I ‘m glad that I caught his late afternoon speech to the nation.

  8. I did receive an email today from mass general brigham telling me about boosters but it did not recommend one for me. It outlined those eligible. I sure hope the most at risk receive theirs first. We blew it in MA allowing younger groups to receive vaccines before older groups were all vaccinated

    1. Who needs a third dose of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines?

People who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should get another dose. These are people who:

Are actively being treated for cancer
Have received a solid organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
      Have received CAR-T cell therapy
Have received a stem cell transplant within in the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system after a stem cell transplant
Have moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
Have advanced or untreated HIV infection (i.e., a CD4 count of less than 200)
Are taking high-dose corticosteroids (i.e., the equivalent of 20 or more milligrams of Prednisone a day)
Are getting other drugs that may suppress the immune response (i.e., tumor-necrosis blockers or other biologic agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory

  9. JPD. It doesn’t seem to say you have to go to where you got first two.

Where can I get another dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine? You can search vaccines.gov, visit Mass.gov or Vaccines.nh.gov to find a location near you. You can also text your zip code to 438829 or call 1-800-232-0233 to find a location.
Do I need a note from my doctor? You will attest to being immunocompromised but you do not need a doctor’s note to get another dose.
Do I have to get the same vaccine I got for the first two doses? You should get the same vaccine for your third dose as you have for the first two. But if it is not available, you can get the other vaccine. This means that if you got Pfizer for your first two doses, and it is not available, you can get Moderna for the third dose. However, whether you got Pfizer or Moderna, you should not get Johnson & Johnson as a third dose. Also, you should not get more than three doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

  10. Boosters begin on September 20th. I was under the impression listening to Biden that boosters are for everyone, regardless of age or health status.

Just like last time, the sickest and elderly go first.

    1. I think they are. I just shared what mass general Brigham email said. I do hope people can be honest.

  11. I heard those 18 and older they recommend a booster eight months after getting your last dose. I am waiting on news about Johnson and Johnson since I had that vaccine.

  12. I should have just shared the entire email. This is not what I heard or what we are saying here. But it is mass general brigham and I have tremendous respect for them.

    Joshua?

Is this just to stop those who are not first in line ?

“Do I need a third dose or booster if I am not immunocompromised?

The CDC does not recommend additional doses or booster shots for any other population at this time. If you are fully vaccinated, there is nothing else you need to do. We will provide updates if there are recommendations for boosters or additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccines for people who are not moderately to severely immunocompromised. “

    1. Just received an email from UMass health. My pcp is with UMass. All other drs are with Mass General Brigham

IF I AM NOT IMMUNOCOMPROMISED, SHOULD I GET A BOOSTER SHOT?

There are additional discussions around providing booster vaccination to all patients after 8 months from the second shot they received. We will provide more information about this as soon as it is available.
      Sincerely,
      UMass Memorial Health

  13. At this point in time, I wish more people understood that science info is constantly changing. Updating. Better info. Not “science says this now when it once said this, so I don’t believe in the science as accurate.” Didn’t we all learn about hypothesis, experimentation, record results, repeat to see if same results happen, and variables? I learned this in fifth grade.
