  1. Better booster & this year’s flu shot becoming available.
I’ll be getting both as early as possible and getting it out of the way.

    1. We may have had cases of « sudden death » before (wether it be from heart attacks, strokes etc), but the extent of them that I’m seeing DAILY is unreal.
      This can’t ALL be coincidental.
Here are the ones I saw today

  2. China surpasses U.S. in life expectancy. https://twitter.com/ianbremmer/status/1567548350035070976

While Covid-19 grabs everyone’s attention given the sharp dip in U.S. life expectancy since 2020 – while China’s is still rising – what’s really notable about the graph is the incredibly steep upward slope in life expectancy in China from 1960 to 1980. So, under Mao and his successors Hua Guofeng and Deng.

I’m not a fan of Mao or communism, but public health in China did become a priority after the 1949 revolution. Getting rid of the feudal system helped, too, as the vast majority of Chinese were essentially indentured servants with no means prior to 1949.

  3. A friend and colleague – Madhu Pai – sent this picture of him at a TB ward pre-pandemic. He’s wearing a mask as are the two people next to him. Masks have ALWAYS been worn in such settings. And, masks have invariably been worn in infectious disease wards when the virus is known to be airborne. I am very puzzled that people – sometimes very bright folks – question the efficacy of masks, or even doubt whether they should be worn at all, in, say, a clinic, a hospital, a pharmacy, a dentist’s office, etc … This is where people really are putting politics ahead of science. Masks are not a panacea, but can definitely help curb transmission. https://twitter.com/paimadhu/status/1567570155990810624

    1. Hyperindividualism and resistance to authority. It doesn’t say much for those who have fought..often using violence….against wearing masks.

What does this all say for China’s VERY strict lockdowns
