Friday December 22 2023 Forecast (8:05AM)

DAYS 1-5 (DECEMBER 22-26)

We have a quiet pattern in place that will be with us right through Christmas Day and slightly beyond, which may not be very helpful for creating a white Christmas, but will be great news for travel up to and through the holiday. A chilly high pressure controls the weather today. Moderation gets underway Saturday. A warm front will cross the region Saturday night and early Sunday and may produce a few patches of very light rain and snow in the region, then fair, milder weather is ours for the balance of Christmas Eve to Boxing Day aka the day after Christmas. A weak cold front will slide into the region later Tuesday but without any issues.

TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 33-40. Wind N-NE 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 15-22. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Sun gives way to clouds. Highs 35-42. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A few snow showers possible. Lows 25-32. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy with a possible snow shower in the morning, except rain showers South Coast, then partly sunny. Highs 38-45. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT (CHRISTMAS EVE): Mostly clear. Lows 22-29. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

MONDAY (CHRISTMAS DAY): Mostly sunny. Highs 43-50. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 25-32. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 45-52. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (DECEMBER 27-31)

Low pressure brings a rain chance December 27 with milder air in place and an inland low track. Upper level low pressure may bring a few rain/snow showers December 28 and a few flurries December 29 as colder air returns. Fair weather with high pressure for December 30-31 to wrap up 2023 in a quiet note.

DAYS 11-15 (JANUARY 1-5)

Watch for a disturbance with some precipitation around the first couple days of 2024, otherwise a fairly quiet pattern to start the new year with no major temperature extremes.

      1. Did your legs turn BLUE?
They should have or else you ain’t normal!

You wouldn’t catch me doing that!!!!!

        I can’t stand cold water!!

Oddly enough, I have fallen through the ice a few times before and each time the water felt eerily hot. Very strange. πŸ™‚

Going for a dip next time? πŸ™‚

  1. John Henry et al. facilitated 4 championships this century. An impressive feat. But I firmly believe his heart is not into the Red Sox franchise anymore. It’s obvious from the team’s middling approach to everything – well, except ticket prices – as it pretends to be what it most definitely is not: A small to mid-market team.

I’m not nearly as alarmed by the lack of a push for Yamamoto and Ohtani as I am being outbid by the Kansas City Royals for an affordable (and good) pitcher in Seth Lugo. Moreover, I’m disturbed by the team not going after other solid pitchers like Wacha.

    Breslow is Bloom 2.0. That’s not a solution. Rather, that’s a problem.

As TK says, we’re spoiled. And I agree. But to consistently not have a competitive team, to be essentially a doormat in the division 4 out of 5 years with the likelihood of next year being more of the same, isn’t fair to the fans who pay those very high ticket prices and are loyal to a fault.

Be competitive. In the hunt. That’s all we ask for. The Sox aren’t even competing at this point. They’re irrelevant. And that’s sad.

    1. I totally and complete agree. It’s almost ever since he purchased
that soccer team in England, this have gone down hill!!

    2. I think Fenway sports next big prize is an NFL team.

Also, I think I saw a big recent investment in golf.

Even with his money, there is only so much to go around with a portfolio that diverse.

      1. And Fenway Park is a draw to a lot of visiting team’s fans, so even if local Sox fans stop going, there’s going to be enough ticket purchases from visiting teams to not drive attendance home as an incentive to Henry, Warner and Co.

        1. Good point, but I don’t think enough to off-set a local
fan boycott and that’s what it would take for changes to be made. But then again, that might be impetus for him to sell the team and that might not be bad for fans. Of course, it could even be worse.

        2. Sorry. I’m feeling a bit smirky this morning after last nights good news.

Is local and sox fans a bit of an oxymoron

          I’ll slink away now

    3. I will not make any judgement’s about Breslow’s offseason until the offseason is actually complete. There are still more than 7 weeks left until pitchers and catchers report to Fort Myers. Plenty of time to do something to upgrade this team.

  2. Thank you, TK

Christmas has always been my very favorite time of year. It is everything about it, but perhaps the miracles and wonder is the part I love most. And I absolutely love snow. But more than that I love family. So I just don’t mind no snow and you are so right IMO that calm weather allows folks to get where they want to be.

My way of saying I love your forecast.

    1. As soon as I saw this, I thought ….. wonder what JpDave thinks ……… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

        1. You a hell of a lot of work.

Indeed it has not. I didn’t really think it had hence my wording. Comprehension, ya know. But the keeper of the light and St Augustine lighthouse and maritime museum thought there might have been. It’s lovely to know I can count on you to correct.

    1. That was supposed to be link to web cam. sorry. there is a placee on link to click on web cam.
      not snowing now. was earlier

  3. SAK, you are correct that we can’t fully know what Breslow has done until February. But until now the signals are concerning. And the similarities to Bloom are hard to ignore.

I love Fenway Park, the Red Sox and the sport of baseball. But it’s ungodly expensive to go. And I’m not paying that much to see mediocrity.

    1. I’m a baseball fan. I’ll go watch baseball anywhere. I drove down to NYC last summer for the Blue Jays and Mets and I’m not a fan of either team (but went with a friend who is a Blue Jays fan). I have tickets for 4 Sox games already for the upcoming season, and will probably get a handful more. Whether the team is good or bad, I will cheer for them, and I will go watch them play. The same goes for the other teams around here.

    1. you are welcome e Harry Styles is svery talented and performs a wide variety of music very well. We have all 3 of his Albums. He was awesome in One Direction and even better solo

      1. Had no idea who Harry Styles is until I found out a few weeks ago that Mac’s first cousins son is his manager. Now I oddly hear his name a lot.

  4. Once again, made it to 35 here today. Very nice Winter day. But I have to be honest, I was out this afternoon with a light jacket and it was most comfortable.

    1. I agree. I sat in the car while granddaughter rode. I ended up putting the window down because it was lovely air. No jacket. But was still In the car.
