Tuesday June 24 2025 Forecast (7:13AM)

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 24-28)

The hot spell that starts summer 2025 off peaks today with a high pressure ridge overhead and full sunshine, a high launch pad for temps, and high humidity. While Cape Cod will stay under 90, pretty much everywhere else exceeds it today. The immediate shores can be slightly cooler with very shallow sea breezes. The normal hot spots will make a run at the century mark, but the majority of the region will fail to reach it. Head indices, however, will have no problem getting to 100+. An uncomfortable night follows that tonight. Relief is on the way as a back-door cold front slides from northeast to southwest across the region Wednesday, though the process is slow enough that some areas (especially west and southwest of Boston) will still be on the hot side for high temps. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms can pop up with that front mainly south of I-90 and west of I-95 from midday into afternoon, otherwise not much will occur. Thursday through Saturday will feature cooler weather with the frontal boundary having become stationary to our southwest, and a couple disturbances moving along it. These can bring some episodes of showers through Friday. But Saturday, the influence of that front will fade, but another disturbance will approach and pass through from northwest to southeast, keeping the threat of showers going. However, even with 3 days of potential showers, it does not look like that many hours of rain will occur in any given locations, with the dominant features being cloudiness and cooler weather, not so much wet weather.

TODAY: Hazy sunshine. Highs 93-100 except cooler a few immediate coastal areas and especially Cape Cod. Dew point 65+. Wind W 5-15 MPH, may switch at times to a weak sea breeze along the immediate coastline.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 72-79. Dew point 65+. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. An isolated shower or thunderstorm inland areas mainly southwest of Boston in the afternoon. Highs 78-85 coast, 86-93 inland, but a cooling trend from northeast to southwest by midday on. Dew point 65+. Wind shifting to NE 5-15 MPH from northeast to southwest.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 63-70. Dew point 60+. Wind NE up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers. Highs 72-79, coolest coast. Dew point 60+. Wind NE to E up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog. Chance of a shower. Lows 61-68. Dew point 60+. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Highs 68-75, coolest coast. Dew point 60+. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Fog patches. Lows 60-70. Dew point near 60. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Highs 70-77. Dew point 60+. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 29 – JULY 3)

A more southerly air flow takes over for the final 2 days of June with mainly dry weather and a modest warm up with moderate humidity. Watching for a frontal passage from the northwest around July 1 with a t-storms threat. High pressure builds in with fair and seasonable weather later in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 4-8)

High pressure looks like it will dominate with fair and seasonably warm weather around the Independence Day time period, with higher humidity and unsettled weather returning mid to late period.

  1. Yes, today is the hottest day of the stretch.

I’m willing to bet there will be complaints on social media about it being too cool later this week. 😉

  2. Good morning and thank you TK.

    A resl STINKER this morning!!!

A west wind at Boston. IF Boston were to reach or exceed 100, that would be the correct wind direction. We shall see. I still
think Boston reaches 100. But 97 or 98 is plenty hot enough if it doesn’t. Will be watching….

    ACs are cranking already….

    1. https://www.pivotalweather.com/model.php?m=hrrr&p=sfcwind_mslp&rh=2025062411&fh=5&r=us_ne&dpdt=&mc=

The isobars have that look of a little trof, extending from Maine southwestward through eastern Mass.

It’s one sensible weather aspect is to switch those winds to west northwest a little later on and add in that extra little downsloping warmth.

I think I see it projecting a 60F dp at Logan when it projects 101F.

      I think that’s the key for plus/minus 100F. If the dp doesn’t go below 65F, then it’s probably 98F.

      Get closer to 60F and it’s 100F.

Get unexpectedly down into the mid 50s and 102F might be in play.

      Fun to watch.

  3. Thanks TK !

Per climate data, at 5:15pm yesterday, Logan hit 90F yesterday, our favorite location will qualify for a heat wave.

  4. As of 8:20 this morning Logan is up to 90 with DP 72 and WNW wind at 12 mph. This is a recipe for 100+ if ever there were. With that wind direction, the dp is likely to slowly drop to the upper 60s and with some down sloping, well, very high temperatures can be achieved.

However, using the 850mb temperature method, we get 99 as the top temperature. I still think it will make it to 100 at Logan.
We shall see. Either way, it is damn HOT!!!!

  5. Ya’ll getting some good time heat, meanwhile where I am at stuck in the 40s and 50s with steady winds up to 60 where I am at. Elevations in the Australian Alps getting some good snow. Some of the ski areas are seeing some of the best Junes they have had in over a decade and they are adding to the base. Unfortunatly the ski areas are 7 hours away and I have a sprained ankle so I won’t be able to get to it. https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=gfs&region=aus&pkg=asnow&runtime=2025062406&fh=6

      1. Its been busy and I sprained my ankle rather good while playing frisbee a few weeks ago and still not healed ( really annoying) but overall really good. Placed my tickets for Mass for this upcoming December. Its going to be the longest time that I have not been home. It will be over a year. its really interesting when you start combining New England, Caribbean and Australian in your vocab lol. Whats really weird is that I hear the Australian accent still but when I listen to podcasts, news etc from the New England area the Boston accent comes out so much clearer and I know they are not exaggerating it, but its just that more clear not hearing it every day

  6. Dew Point got up to 82 yesterday near me with a heat index of 111 at one point yesterday afternoon. 81 was the highest dew point I ever experienced down in Virginia several years ago.

  7. Exceprt from this mornings NWS discussion (MY Bolding)

This afternoon will be the warmest thus far, 00z guidance shows a
vast mid-level ridge across the eastern CONUS and the temperatures
at 925mb over southern New England are +28C to +30C! Incredible heat
and resulting temperatures are in the upper 90s to lower 100s. Areas
along coast of Rhode Island and south coastal Massachusetts are in
the lower to middle 90s, while the “least hot” locations are the
islands, which are in the 80s. A breezy west/northwest wind provides
a bit of downsloping and will be able to mix out some “drier” dew
points around 68F to 72F. Still, the combination of the record heat
and dew points will lead it to feel like 100F to 110F for much of
the region. NWS HeatRisk places majority of the region under a major
risk and urban locations under an extreme risk. Anyone spending any
amount of time outdoors today needs to be self aware of heat-related
illnesses. Also, check in on those family and friends who may not
have access to a place to cool off.

  8. From what you just posted this is why BOS area in that level 4 out of 4 Extreme Risk from the NWS Heat Risk product they put out.

  9. My overnight low was 76. I had hoped for a couple of degrees lower.

Walked the shore and winds were west / southwest. I need a little easterly to win my bottle of cabernet bet. ugh!

  10. Wow, am I bad. DId not solve Wordle today. Of course I was trying at 6AM. Perhaps IF I were more awake, I would do better. Will try later in the morning tomorrow. 🙂 🙂 🙂

MY first word yielded ZILCH other than knowing those
5 letters were not in the word.

I tried a new first word today: SAVOR

I am begging to dislike this game!!!!

    1. Give it some time. You find a groove and celebrate the days where you get it. My tips are as follows: it’s never a plural word – so don’t end your guess with the letter “s”. I’ve changed my settings to the harder mode so it doesn’t allow me to guess anything UNLESS I include the letters I’ve uncovered previously. If you think a word could be one of two words, always go with the “rarer” one, if that makes sense.

I tend to average getting the word on the third guess and fourth guess. It’s not usual for me to go beyond that. As I mentioned before: it’s fun to play connections and strands to warm up the brain in advance. Look at it as working out that muscle in your noggin!

      1. I’ll add to these good tips.

Don’t forget that there can be another instance of a letter that you already found.

Sometimes I do something that I can’t prove isn’t stupid. Say I have an E (just as an example) in the wrong place on the first guess. I would really like to find the right place for it. On the second guess I’ll try a word with two Es, neither in the place that I know it doesn’t belong. After that I’ll either have the correct location on an E or have it narrowed down to two possibilities.

It took me five today, so use these ideas at your own risk! 🙂

    2. I had a six. There were lots of choices if you didn’t have the first letter. And in my head, I was pronouncing the last four letters incorrectly which didn’t help

      1. That’s hilarious because I did the exact same thing with the pronunciation. Even after I got the answer, I failed to recognize the word and went so far as to Google it! 🙂

I’m always amazed by the coworkers I had who used English as a second language.

  11. Logan now 91 with a dp 70.
Temperature is going up while the dew point is going down.
    Interesting day….

  12. One of our meteorologist in CT last night was saying the dew points will drop but the temperature will be higher.

  13. What records will be broken today?

The daily record (95) feels like a given (set in 2013)

The monthly record (100) I just don’t see it. (Set in 2021)

The all time record (104) is impossible in my mind. (Set in 1911, I’m sure a few of the posters here will say they remember that day LOL, I kid i kid… unless we have some vampires?)

    1. I agree no 104, but 100 is very possible.

As of 9:54 AM, Logan is already up to 93. You can kiss the 95 record good-bye. We “may” tie or break the 100 record.
THe 104 seems out of reach.
If we don’t make 100, I’d say 97,98 or 99 is plenty hot enough.
But in all honestly, I think Boston gets to 100, perhaps 101.

    1. Hi Captain! I posted this on Friday but not sure if you saw it.

A huge congratulations to you Captain and thank you for all you did for so many students that went through your classroom door. Teaching can be a thankless job at times but I will always have the utmost respect and appreciation for anyone who takes on that role. Wishing you nothing but good health and enjoyment in your retirement!

Does this mean you retire from football announcing also? I was hoping to catch a Middleboro game this season!

  14. Thanks TK.

Some serious heat out there, thankfully not too long duration. Hope everyone takes it easy and can bask in the relief coming soon! While I miss a day here and there I do read through the comments here regularly and know several of the folks here have been dealing with some very tough situations, so I really hope everyone is hanging in there the best they can!

As TK has alluded to, the Eastern heat is definitely being balanced by Western coolness. Downtown LA will probably hit a whopping 70 degrees today…

    1. Hey, WxWatcher. It’s wonderful to see both you and Matt here. I hope you are well.

Your ears must have been ringing. I just asked TK yesterday if he knew whether you are still in southern CA. My niece from the Bay Area visited last week. She is also very interested in weather. I sent her the link to whw.

    1. Patience Tom, It is coming as you well know.
So the daily record is now tied and certain to fall momentarily.
WIll the monthly record be tied or even fall? To be determined.

As hot as it is, I am actually feeling pretty cool sitting in this Air Conditioned room. I am hoping against all hope that we do not lose power! We’ll be screwed should that happen!!!

              1. My over / under is 96. I took the under. I am suddenly wishing I had put it at 97!

  15. hmmm, Logan has dropped back to 93. Wind dropped off to West at 8 mph. Are they about to develop a sea breeze?
That will KILL all of the record chances for sure.

  16. 91.9 here on my conservative thermometer.

It was 92 at the East Taunton airport at 10 am. The 11 am temps haven’t posted yet.

It has hit 100 degrees or warmer only 14 times here in Taunton since 1893. The last time was July 20, 2013. The record for the maximum low temperature is 78 degrees on July 31, 1917. It was 70 earlier this morning.

On August 2, 1975, it was 95 at 11 am as reported by WBZ radio. I still have my notes on that record-breaking day!

  17. Logan now 97, but wind is down to WNW at 6 mph. Does not node well for holding back a sea breeze. If the sea breeze comes, no 100 for sure.

    DP still at 70.

    1. I don’t think we break 100 but still plenty of runway left.

Hope everyones power grid stays running!

    2. I’m a little surprised the eastern Mass Dps have stayed near 70F to this point and equally impressed by the airmass that with this much moisture in the air, we’re moving through the mid 90s.

There are busier breezes to the west of the coastline and I wonder if that pushes to the coastline early this afternoon.

  18. 1,000 ft Worcester is 91F.

Summit of mt Washington is 63F without sun. They are in a dark fog/mist because their dp is nearly matching the temp.

It’s 86F at the base of the mtn per the auto road sensors.

  19. Worcester airport at 1,000 ft with a breeze gusting to 20 mph has seen its DP fall to 66F.

Will Logan and the coastline gust to 20mph later on? That will certainly get it to 100 or 101F.

    1. Well Logan has steady wind at 16. I am sure it gusts to 20.
      DP down to 68

      It’s happening!

  20. Logan is stil at 97 with WNW wind at 16 and dp down to 68

    100 is still in play.

    Norwood is at 99.

  21. What were watching for temperatures today
    From NWS BOS
Extreme heat today may challenge June monthly record highs at several sites:
    BOS: 100°F (2021/1952/1925)
    ORH: 98°F (1952)
    PVD: 98°F (1945/1943)
    BDL: 100°F (1964/1952)

  22. The excitement I get when the atmosphere comes together to produce a large snowstorm /blizzard carries over to when it comes together to produce extreme heat, especially at our latitude.

  23. It’s 90F at the Provincetown airport with a DP of 75F.

It’s 90F at the Hyannis airport and at the center of the island of Martha’s Vineyard.

  24. The “Atlantic Niña” we observed last year had returned.

    Cooling trend in tropical waters.

  25. Logan seems to be stuck at 97.
We’re this high, Let’s tie or break the record. Why not?
Just because of that, it probably won’t. 🙂

    1. The sensors all west and northwest of Logan have 95-98F.

The wind just went NW at Logan and zooming in real close, at that direction, the air goes over most of the airport and the least crossing of the harbors inner inlets.

      Marshfield’s little airport saying 99F.

    1. As of 12:20 And wind WEST at 15 and dp down to 66 all point to 100+ this afternoon. And I am loving watching the Logan pot as it WILL soon BOIL.

  26. I see a bunch of 99s out there, but no site has cracked the century mark yet. We have 2-4 more hours of heating that can get the job done. We shall see.

  27. Just need one more puff at Logan from the NW, the wind went west where the inlet is that you drive under to get over to Logan. It’s widest at that point.

  28. Current temps with dps all above 65F.

    Extremely Impressive.

The HRRr simulated 101F at a dp of 60F, but the current Logan dp is 66F and it’s still 99F.

  29. Roxbury (102), BC, Needham, Westwood, Norwood, Dover, Walpole (102), Duxbury, marshfield, N Weymouth,

A few of the 100 club members so far.

We hit 97 here West of 128 seems to be lagging a bit

      1. 404 ft. I’ll see if there is a whw sensor at the highest point in Sutto. But our surrounding towns have been a bit lower than east of us all day

  30. Concord and Manchester NH at 99f, 1,000 ft Worcester airport at 93F.

Will Logan’s wind go NW in the next 60 to maybe 90 mins?

It will jump to 100F if not 101F if it does. If it stays due west, I don’t know.

  31. According to weather bug I’m at 98 in pembroke. Not sure as it feels like an oven & I love it .

  32. Here in JP Under all the trees, we’re only at 96.3 with dp 69.
We always lag behind in this kind of weather. We’ll probably go 98 or 99 at about 5PM. 🙂 🙂

  33. So, Logan slipped back to 99. I have been looking on Meso West. Occasionally there is a round issue. So we can’t be sure Logan has “officially” reached 100. 99 “May” still be the high temperature. We shall see. 🙂

  34. Don’t kill the messenger please.

The euro has gotten warmer for next Sunday and Monday, certainly not like this, but approaching 90F next Sunday and Monday.

      1. Yes. I kind of like when we experience the extremes of winter and summer.

I’ll complain about bitter cold, but love a monster fall of snow.

    1. Yup.

That ob link SAK gave us a while back is cool !

I had heard of the NW wind, but when zooming in on the obs, you can really appreciate that the NW wind goes over the entire length of the airport where even a west wind crosses a much bigger inlet of the harbor and in talking 1F or so, that’s huge.

  35. Using the NWS reported temps for my over / under bet which I put at 96. As I said, I took the under hoping for an easterly gasp of air. Well the temp is at 96 so the best I can do is tie. If it goes to 97 I lose.

  36. 17Z HRRR has 101 for Boston at 3PM. A little less then 20 minutes to go Will that verify? It’s been pretty damn close all day long. 🙂

  37. If BOS hits 101 new record high temperature for the month of June. The highest is 100 according to the tweet from news BOS I posted earlier.

  38. All this accomplished with a 67F DP at Logan.

I feel like in July 2011, the night before the low was 80F and the dps were in the mid-upper 70s and we went over 100F around the 22nd or so, but there was a big dp drop on that one. I feel like it dropped to the upper 50s.

I couldn’t tell you what the dps were on August 2nd, 1975, I just remember it was hot.

But getting the temp to 100F in moderately high humidity conditions is pretty good.

    1. If I remember correctly, the dps were fairly high with that one.
      It was brutal!!

        1. I cannot attest to the actual dew point, I just know I was sweating bullets so it sure seemed humid.

  39. 98.2 here. Transpiration does make a difference.

    I found this

Transpiration can lower the surrounding air temperature
Transpiration can lower the surrounding air temper
ature. When trees transpire, they release water vapor and cool the air around them. This process helps regulate the temperature of the surrounding environment.
    University of Nebraska–Lincoln

We have a crapload of trees in our neighborhood and surrounding my house.

  40. Thanks, TK.

Well, Boston is hotter than Baghdad among other places in the Middle East. Not as hot as Riyadh, but still. It probably feels hotter in Boston than Riyadh. Boston is hotter than Manila (also during the day) and even Death Valley (though it’s still noon there). Hotter than Athens was today, but not by much.

  41. Eric F in twitter about 18 mins ago said Boston has hit 101F and set a new monthly record.

I believe him, but I can’t find anything showing that, unless it hit it between 5 min obs.

I’m thinking the airport may call over to the TV Mets and let them know ???

    1. Interesting. Hope this is correct. I can’t find it either and I have been snooping around. Cool or HOT if you will. Thanks

  42. Providence set all an time June Monthly temperature record.
    From Eric Fisher
ALL-TIME June high set in Providence, RI

100F and possibly still climbing. Old monthly record was 98F.

  43. BDL last check was 99. BDL needs to get to 101 to set an all time June record for highest temperature ever recorded.

  44. Well, noticing some signs of the southeast sw wind starting to materialize.

In this scenario, it’s a can’t win, because it would assuredly help the temps fall a bit faster than they otherwise world, but it’s going to bring oppressive humidity with it.

Going to be interesting to watch Boston to Hartford, points north and west try to cool off tonight.

  45. Now 99 on the dot here. Still have an hour or 2 here to climb
to the century mark. We always lag behind then catch up starting about now. 🙂

  46. Earlier someone asked me if this is the earliest Boston has ever got 100.

The answer: No. That honor goes to a spring day in 1925, June 6.

  47. 99.5 here. Catching up. dp 71

I was worried that my ACs wouldn’t keep up with the heat, but they have and then some. It is downright cool in 1/2 the house and the rest is an absolute SAUNA!!!!!

      1. It is and thank you Tom. We use a fan to spread some of the cooling around. We have 3 large rooms, a large hallway and the bathroom all cooled. It works for us.

Then at night we shut some doors and open another and get
the living room cool enough to comfortably watch TV.
I have a 4th AC that I could install in the living room, but we would only use it at night and we would have to rearrange all of the furniture. In short, not worth it. What we are doing works fine for us.

        🙂

        1. Good !!

Today, I put a fan downstairs at the bottom of the stairs and have it blowing cool air up.

The central AC wouldn’t have held its own upstairs. It would probably still be in the low 80s in this kind of heat, but we’ve held around 77F with the extra cool air from downstairs. 2 more hours and the sun will get behind some very tall trees to our northwest and we can get the upstairs down to 73 or 74, which is our minimum setting.

If it’s 90 or 92F, the central keeps the upstairs fine during the day without the fan’s extra help.

          1. Nice to have central air. Wish it would keep up with heat a little better for you. At least you have something.

  48. 18Z HRRR has Boston 93 tomorrow by 10-11AM before it FINALLY starts to cool off. Looks like it may end up a 4 day heat wave!

  49. Heat Advisories up for most of SNE 8pm tonight to 7pm Wed. Slowly heading in the right direction.

  50. The mini urban heat island that is UMass / Amherst Center is feeling it today and joined the 100 club

    https://weather.cs.umass.edu/

I really did not think eastern ma would see widespread 100 degree readings but it has. Very impressive! New Bedford at 101 was not on my checklist…

Truth is today actually feels better out here than yesterday. Vigorous west wind, lowering dewpoints. (Also all contributors to the broad temp rise) I mowed my lawn last night and when I finished at 7:40 it was still about 94 with a dew point around 74. I was soaked…

Enjoy it. It is rare in these parts…

    1. Yes, I noticed that it feels slightly better here today than yesteday,

I would never mow the lawn in this kind of weather.
But then I have a service that cuts it for me anyway., 🙂 🙂

Great to have you check in. We all like hearing from you.

  51. According to what I can see on the NWS website (Observations ~ List), New Bedford was the warmest city in New England/Northeast at 101 at 3 pm.

        1. I’m fine, The Mrs. Is holding on the best she can. This weather is brutal on her, even when we have the AC running. 20,000 btus cranking out cooling.

  52. Still 99.5 here. I want it to hit 100 on the dot. Don’t think it will make it.

    1. No way, I stopped checking 🙂

And the 101 at Logan was at 3:54 !!!!!

I was just cooking American chop Suey right at that time, so that’s why Marshfield hit 102F 🙂

      1. ha ha ha
I was goig to make that, but it gets too hot.
        We’re going for pancakes, I think. 🙂

          1. It is, every now and then. If it gets too regular, I don’t like it any more. Heating a pot of water for the spagetti or Elbows just heats the kitchen up too much. Ground beef still in the freezer for another time. 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. Grandkids have one of those large blow up type pools and have been in it a lot the past few days. They also have a round sprinkler on the trampoline which looks like a blast to jump around.

    1. Great hot weather meal!!!

My go to hot weather meal is a BLT with cold lettuce and tomatoes and potato chips, but not today. 🙂

    2. Similar here. I grilled chicken yesterday. Tonight will be cold chicken salad sandwiches and fruit salad.

  53. Clearly, the warmest of the air aloft has lagged on a little later overhead than the HRRR and other models simulated.

Per date and time, we’re at a 42 degree sun angle right now and temps are stabilized or even rising a couple tenths in the last 30 minutes.

  54. Thank goodness we didn’t have a tough winter. It would have taken 3 cancellations to have ended today.

    1. I was thinking if any districts were still open today, Tom. I believe there was one district in Massachusetts that went late into June last year because of a teachers’ strike.

        1. No. It all has to do with the fiscal year ending on June 30. They’re wouldn’t be any money to pay staff.

              1. After many years of correcting bad spelling, I am not sure what is correct anymore! 🙂

  55. Barring a spectacular two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth, we’ll have to settle for a high of 98.

  56. Another way Logan can hit 90F tomorrow is if it hasn’t cooled off under 90F at 11:54pm tonight.

    1. That could happen as well. but even if it drops below 90, it will make 90 before any cooling arrives. 🙂

  57. Just hit an even 100 here in JP. NO tenths. Right on the button.
    Also, with dp 70.

  58. Logan’s peak 102, at which time the dew point was down to 63.

This is the only way they do it.

  59. We peaked at 102.7 here at the office in downtown Nashua, right on the banks of the Nashua River.

KASH is about 2.5 miles away and they reached 101.

  60. Tom, Marshfield very seldom gets the same intensity effect that Boston does with that downslope heat blast. Today, they did.

    1. I remember a handful of less of days when we were at Humarock and the high Temps moved to the coast

    2. Yes. At around 5:30pm, I was behind Rexhame Beach by the south River accompanying my daughter to her senior year photo shoot and it was like being in a furnace. I thanked the 2 women over and over for taking these photos on a day like this.

Then, we went for a swim at the wall and got back a bit ago. That felt nice !!

The airport still has 97F in town, a shaded thermometer up by green harbor had 92F.

It was interesting walking the wall in this weather when I can so vividly see how often the wall is coated in ice in frozen sea spray from crashing waves on a bitter day.

    3. It was warm at 10am this morning at Green Harbor, it was hot everywhere today .

  61. We lost power at 4:37 PM

Went to Berucci’s for dinner, filled up the tank and came back home. We were about to head to a hotel and started packing when the power came back on at about 8:20 or so!

It was really getting hot in this house. That’s what I get for boasting how cool it was in 1/2 the house. Oh well, all is well now, assuming power stays on.

Pretty hot day to be sure!!!

    1. Oh man , so sorry old salty . I am happy it is back on & hope it stays that way .

  62. I peeked back and on June 14th, when it was a cool day, I said, open your windows and let all the cool air in and posted a euro 10 day outlook.

Then, on June 15th, I hope it’s ok I copied a post of yours JpDave, he wrote the following ….,

    Regarding heat….

This coming Thursday, model consensus upper 80s to lower 90s.

Next Tuesday, both the GFS and Euro have 100 degrees or more
for the Boston area. We’ll see how these verify or not.

The models did have this ridge 9-10 days out at least, the monstrous 597 dm ridge it was, I think they also had the very cold trof in the west and even saw some of the snow that I did think fell.

Very meridional pattern to scoop up a batch of southwest US heat.

Oh that heat area will return out there and we’ll just have to see if a direct piece of it gets sent again our way in the next 2+ months.

What a weather day this was !

  63. Another example of media exaggeration:

Boston toped at 102 today. Typically when we hit 100+ it’s only for a few brief moments. Today we stayed above 100 for nearly 7-hours. It was a scorcher.

Looking at the actual obs from Logan, It hit 100 at 1:25 and dropped below 100 at 6:10, which is less than 5 hours. But it was only “above 100” on a few sporadic obs between 3:54 and 6:00. It very clearly did not “stay above 100 for nearly 7 hours”

  64. 92/71 in Boston at 10 pm. Wow!

    Still 81 here.

Hope you and Mrs. OS are well, staying cool and have a restful night, Dave! 🙂

    ‘Night, y’all!

    1. 10Z HRRR says about 93 for Boston

850 mb method suggests about 92 as a high.

Either way, it would represent a 4-Day Heat Wave for Boston and 5 90+ days on the year for Boston and 6 for us here in JP.
