Monday March 23 2026 Forecast (7:15AM)

DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 23-27)

A wave of low pressure moving by just to our south this morning is responsible for the shield of precipitation over much of the region, mainly rain but mixed with (and turning to) wet snow on its northern edge, which progresses south and east as the morning goes along until it moves offshore. At worst, a slushy coating of snow can occur in unpaved surfaces from this portion of the two-part event today. The second part of it will be scattered to clustered snow showers later this afternoon into this evening from upper level low pressure moving across the region. These can be responsible for a coating of snow in some areas, again mainly on unpaved surfaces, and will only be around for a few hours. Overnight and Tuesday, high pressure builds in with a fair weather and a late March chill in the air. The next low pressure system is a weak one and will pass north of our region late Wednesday to early Thursday. Its weak trough and frontal system may bring a passing rain shower to the region late Wednesday. A follow up system, slightly stronger and with more moisture, will move across the region late Thursday to early Friday with a quick warm front / cold front combo bringing some rain to the region which can end as a mix with sleet and / or wet snow early Friday before that system exits to our east.

TODAY: Cloudy. Rain turns to wet snow (some sleet mixed in) with a slushy coating on some unpaved surfaces before tapering off northwest to southeast. Afternoon snow showers redevelop, may be mixed with rain initially South Coast. Highs 37-44. Wind N 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy early with snow showers tapering off – additional slushy coatings possible early. Clearing overnight. Lows 22-29. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 38-45. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear. Lows 28-35. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Increasing clouds. Highs 46-53, coolest Cape Cod. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy with rain showers evening. Partly cloudy overnight. Lows 35-42. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy. Highs 50-57. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Rain arrives. Lows 35-42. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Cloudy early with rain ending possibly mixed with wet snow, then slow clearing. Highs 45-52. Wind N 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (MARCH 28 – APRIL 1)

Up and down temps, averaging near to below normal, and a couple periods of unsettled weather possible, but likely from quick-passing systems.

DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 2-6)

Trend is for up and down temps and a couple unsettled weather chances – typical of early spring. Many details TBD.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK

Temp 35. Still raining as far as I can tell.

    Ocean: 38

    WORDLE: yet another FAIL

  2. Thanks TK !

Joining you with a fail, JpDave.

Maybe the worst of my fails too, not really a close guess. Never had more than 3 letters, even at the last guess.

    That’s ok, onto tomorrow.

    1. Welcome! we can commiserate together!!!

I had the 1st 3 letters in order after 4, 1st 4 letters in order on 5 & 6. Still NO CLUE!!!! How many people in this world even know what the hell that word is????? NOT many I suspect.
I know the word, but would NEVER have guessed that in a million years!!! I CALL FOUL!!!!!!

      1. I knew it had to be a mostly unfamiliar word. I have four letters with first in the right place after two guesses. That should be s relatively straight forward 3 and I have absolutely no clue.

  3. Definitely sleeting here in Quincy but no visual accumulation

(Wordle 3… could have been 4 if I went with my initial instinct but decided to think if there were other possibilities – spoiler: https://ibb.co/5g4w3BLH )

  4. Thank you, TK

We are at our low of 33. Not sure if it’s precipitating now. But as if 9:50 we have 0.61 with a two day so far of 1.15

Back to trying to figure out Wordle.

  5. Wordle 5. I can’t seem to get out of the 5s

And I should have known the word. I used it often but not for years.

  6. Wordle 4 as well, tough one but I had the first three and couldn’t come with anything else until it popped into my head

  7. Yesterday was World Water Day and I pointed out that because of the way water circulates , we are drinking water that is millions of years old and more likely billions of years. Just to add to that, we are drinking the same water that dinosaurs drank.

About 97% of the world’s H2O is undrinkable due to its salt content and another 2% is locked up in ice and ice caps which leaves1% for the world’s population to drink. While all final effects are not known, the HTE probably added a significant amount of water to the world’s total.

    1. It’s certainly plenty cold enough for snow. I just came in from outside and it’s just as cold as it was during the winter.

What a way to kick off spring!

        1. I suppose we can’t dismiss this upcoming April for snow either. We’ve seen plenty some years although I don’t remember the last time it snowed in April around here other than a few flakes maybe.

    1. If it’s a video, I can’t get it to run, but I can see a still image of the squirrel. Cute !! Well, cute as long is it can’t get in 🙂

      1. It’s just a still of her looking at and listening to the ring camera where my voice comes from. She listened for at least 4-5 minutes

  8. Everything about today screams classic March (end of winter / start of spring).

I love today’s weather, to be perfectly and completely honest. These were the days that I’d sit as a kid and think about where we were before and where we’d end up in summer. The entire process is just fascinating to me, and to experience ALL of it is a gift I’m grateful for. 🙂

  9. RRFS-A, version 1 is back up and running (3rd cycle today, the first was 06z and was incomplete, the second was 09z and was complete, and the 12z is almost done).

  10. Someone I know today from Boston said: “This is about the coldest March we’ve ever had.” It was at that time that I informed them through March 22 the temperature departure for the month in Boston is +3.8F.

    Reply: “Oh.”

    🙂
