DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 19-23)
The next 5 days will feature a pattern of high pressure to our north and low pressure to our south. The latter will be moving somewhat erratically in a blocking set-up, and its cloud shield will be in our sky later today into midweek, with its rain potentially reaching Cape Cod and the Islands for a brief time midweek. Otherwise, the system will remain offshore, although we’ll feel a gusty northeasterly breeze between it and the high to the north. By Friday, the low starts to move northeastward to a position well east of New England on its way to the outskirts of Atlantic Canada, at which time we’ll switch to a more northerly air flow.
TODAY: Sun becoming filtered by high clouds, also some lower clouds possible near the coast. Highs 57-64. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT / TUESDAY: Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Highs 56-63. Wind NE 5-15 MPH except 15-25 MPH Cape Cod region.
TUESDAY NIGHT / WEDNESDAY: Lots of clouds. Late-day rain possible Cape Cod & Islands. Lows 40-47. Highs 53-60. Wind NE 10-20 MPH except 20-30 MPH South Coast region with higher gusts.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Rain chance Cape Cod & Islands. Lows 41-48. Wind NE 10-20 MPH, higher gusts, especially Cape Cod & South Coast.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind NE 10-20 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 32-39. Wind N 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
FRIDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 52-59. Wind N 10-20 MPH, higher gusts, diminishing late in the day.
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 24-28)
High pressure provides fair weather on the October 24-25 weekend and into early next week as well. Frontal system brings a rain shower chance toward the middle of next week in a more zonal flow pattern.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 29 – NOVEMBER 2)
Hybrid pattern may evolve with some transitional blocking but still a lot of west to east movement also. General idea is high pressure providing fair weather October 29-31 and an unsettled weather threat later in the period as we begin November.

I join the crowd in the Wordle 3-car.
This morning at around 7:15 we were engulfed in heavy fog with almost zero visibility. I took a photo as it was dissipating:

I just watched Jacob’s forecast on WBZ:
“Still very dry outside, so no fog concerns for for today.”
Maybe it’s time to have my eyes examined. 🙂
He actually said “for” not “for for” – I don’t want to misquote him!
OR HIS!!!!!!
That is a beautiful shot there!!!! Well done!!
Welcome to what is becoming a very crowded 3 car today. :)\
Nice job.

Feel like the ridge has dug its heels in and we are up for dry spell for a while.
Sure would like Saturday to be dry. It’s Sutton’s oh my gourd festival on the common
I think your right Longshot and hopefully, Vicki.
Thank you. Fingers crossed
The Bears are a field goal favorite for the Thursday game. The Pats have a good enough team to beat the Bears as long as everyone plays their A game. It would also help if AJ shows up.
I don’t know the Bears much at all.
Curious how their defensive line ranks.
I’ll give the Pats offensive line an A++++++++ yesterday. All those replacements and they still held their own against a stout Jets defensive line.
But, this is on the road on a short week. Can they run block and can they protect Maye in the pass game. If they can’t, it will be very difficult to win.
7th against the run, 14th against the pass.
Fairly to very strong
Oh boy ……
When an offensive line is overwhelmed, we’ll see the 2007 Super Bowl when the Giants shocked the Patriots and a recent Super Bowl when the Chiefs got crushed by the Eagles, I believe.
That would be my concern here with all the O line injuries. If you can’t run or pass because your O line is getting pushed around, you usually lose big.
That’s what made the 4th qtr so impressive yesterday. The Pats O line held strong. At home and for 1 quarter.
Thanks TK! Not one person watching that game yesterday thought the Jets would win and that’s such a sad statement on what used to be a great rivalry. Jets now 2-18 in last ten years. Heck, The crowd wasn’t even into it. It was like a scrimmage! Had the Pats had full offensive line it would have been a slaughter. The Jets are coached so poorly on two minute scenarios and red zone football. It’s an endless nightmare

LOL!
Thanks, TK!
56 now, up from a low of 32.
I had posted this totally out of place, so here it is again.

Hi all! Reviewed recent guidance. No changes to current discussion!
I did noticed the ECMWF model now depicts a potent but very small upper low dropping southward from eastern Canada across New England on Friday behind the offshore storm, keeping temps in the 40s with mixed liquid & frozen precipitation showers here. It’s a bit of an outlier in that scenario, however.
GFS anyone?

Nope.
It also had an inland snow event a few days before that.
It’s a really, REALLY bad op run. Although to be honest, the inland snow event is not that “out there” as an idea.
In a post 2 hours ago, Ch 10 is hyping up the nor’easter threat for later this week. Even talking about rain/wind going a distance inland.
I can 100% GUARANTEE YOU this post was initiated by a non-meteorologist higher-up, not part of the weather team, who was likely told they had to make it. GUARANTEE IT.
And this is what’s wrong with local media now. Weather “forecast” decisions being made by people not on the weather team.
And ch 10 is bad that way!!!
