Friday Forecast Update

12:01AM

The general idea of the previous discussion holds with regard to the upcoming weather system. I still think we will be surrounded by unsettled weather the next couple days but escape much of it. Not expecting bright sunny days today or Saturday, but I do expect it to be rain-free. This may even hold well into Sunday, though at this point I have to go for more substantial cloudiness and introduce the chance of some showers on Sunday.

Looking into next week. If you like it unsettled, it’ll be your week I think – at least the first half of it.

Boston area forecast…

THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Lows generally in the upper 40s. Highs generally in the 60s except cooler along the coast. Wind mostly E 5 to 15 mph through Friday night, then SE to S Saturday and Saturday night.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. High 62 to 67 except cooler south-facing coastal areas.

MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY: Episodes of showers or rain. Lows upper 40s to lower 50s. Highs middle 50s to middle 60s, coolest near the coast.

  1. Sun just crested over the horizon, looks to be a sunny Friday morning, got alot of outside work to get done today and this weekend, huge gathering 40-50 people cookout Sat and even Sun I have 10 people coming over, everything looks good, day off today

  2. This has nothing to do with the weather but I just had 2 more friends move away to NC, why do alot of people leave this area, I read a article on how 2.3 million new englanders have left the area since 1970, r we gonna lose another house seat in 2020, I said I would never leave but me and my wife r thinking and it’s sad, nothing ever changes here, and everywhere else in country changes, what r we doing wrong here or is this population flee all weather related, if so why is Chicago growing much faster? Peace Just curious

  3. 41F atop Mt. Washington, mild airmass overhead…if the sun stays out, interesting to see how mild to warm well inland it gets, away from the ocean’s influence….Charlie, interesting question…think weather and people’s tolerance of the cooler northern US climate has a role has a small role……. maybe people perceive an easier economic opportunity or conditions in other parts of the Country and maybe its a bit of requiring a change in one’s life.

    1. All my old friends r always asking me anything change up here than the occasional cvs or walgreens built, I also here that it’s the people why the people leave, example is Liberty mutual headquarters that have been here since early 1900’s were building a 260 ft tower next to Hancock tower and now bc of the neighborhood activist bc of height they possibly r scrapping the plans and now talks r possibly leaving the area to go to Virginia bc of this, could this possibly be the reason why we lose jobs too, it’s so sad that the people r ruining this area from thriving, my wife is from the mid west farms and she says she can’t believe that she can get something to eat after 10pm at a restaurant and here just outside what she thought was a major area that after work and school we can’t get a good meal and a drink after 10 or 11pm, we r 15 miles outside the city, it’s so sad, have a great day everyone

  4. Charlie, since you mention Chicago, it actually has slightly less annual snowfall then Boston (38.5″ vs. 42.2.”) and I suspect their springs are much warmer compared to Boston’s (no chilly ocean wind). I also too believe that it is a combination of climate and economy as to why people leave here. Finally, it would be nice if the MBTA would extend its operation hours until 2 a.m. so people wouldn’t have to rely on taxis as much. There are times that I work late and have to hail a cab which can be expensive.

    1. It’s actually a little colder during winter, and a little warmer during the summer, I just wish the Boston area would prosper and not b afraid of change, like I’ve said before if they don’t allow companies to build there skyscrapers over 400 ft in Boston which to today’s standards is not tall and can’t in suburbs either then we pay for it later by not having jobs but neighborhood activist r happy now and don’t care about later bc the company just goes to another city that wants them which is every other city, what r they thinking, build more housing with less than an acre lot to would help job growth 🙂 thats all I say, it’s onto the weather 🙂

  5. TK at some point I would like it if you could address your thoughts on the upcoming summer. Is there any possiblity of a repeat of summer 2009? I have been noticing some disturbingly similar signs. I hate hot, humid temps but that particular summer was a bit too cool even for me. Keeping my fingers crossed that we can have a nice “normal” summer with no drama. 🙂

    1. I am also waiting for his response to this. This spring is just like two years ago, and lasted all summer. I plan on taking my pool cover off next Saturday and am hoping we just have some hot days to jump in.

      1. Hi John.
My wife has been working to open our pool (above ground) and its about ready to go. Of course, I wont go into it until mid July !! 🙂 I’m not sold on this being a repeat of two summers ago. Blocks in spring are common. I think that eventually and it may be sometime in June, things will begin to move again and the temp will shoot straight to 85 to 90F

        1. Hey SST- It’s been awhile since we chatted. I am not on as much but still check in from time to time. Yea I want to get the cover off to warm up the water and get it ready to go, I have a few friends coming over next weekend to help me out. We have an inground and It’s kind of big. I sure hope your right on things changing a summer like two years ago would be a real downer. I coach baseball and just seems like Its alway’s raining. I love summer and enjoy the hot weather. I am sure having summers off you want a good one as well. Bruins came out flat tonight but sox winning. Does Coastal and Hadi still come around. Any time I check in I do not see any posts from them.

  6. After a rainy period late Sun-into early Mon, is it possible the rest of the week has a mild, muggy feel to it that wont be that hard to take at all ? Have a good Saturday everyone !

  7. I am here John!! Just not much to discuss these days. Pretty typical spring weather. No way do I see a repeat of 2009.
