In The Dank Tank

8:00PM

No need to go into a discussion about what you already know. We’re stuck in the gloom. There are signs of a lessening of this, but not a complete break of the pattern. In fact, we could tank again for a few days next week, but that’s getting ahead of ourselves a bit.

Here’s an updated forecast for the Boston area…

THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT: Overcast with periods of drizzle, areas of fog, occasional showers (some heavy) and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to middle 50s over most of the region throughout this period. Winds mostly NE to SE 5 to 15 mph but periods of stronger winds are possible along the coast.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. High near 60.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Isolated showers. Low 49. High 65.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Low 52. High 73.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Low 54. High 70.

TUESDAY: PM showers. Low 55. High 71.

  1. Red Sox game is postponed!…so they will stay above .500 for at least one more night. 🙂 As for the Bruins game, Tampa scored first. Steve Burton hinted that the team that scores first tonight would likely go on to win the game, if I understood him correctly. 🙁

  2. The good news Bruins scored a power play goal but bad news is to give a goal in the 1st minute and last minute of the period. To me when you have a 5-3 power play for that long you got to score. There is plenty of hockey left so will see what happens.

    1. I am not worried about this team. They were down 0 and 2 to Montreal. They came back. They were down 3-1 in a game in Montreal. They came back. They dominated Philly. So they had a rough game 1 against TB and a shaky start in game 2. They are gonna be fine.

  3. Great 2nd Period for the Bruins and 20 minutes away from evening this series at 1 heading to Tampa for game 3 Thursday night!

  4. I guess whatever playoff stat Steve Burton was concerned about regarding who-scores-first is now broken. I am concerned though about 5 goals each for Tampa in 2 games. Hopefully the Bruins can at least “split” down in Tampa. 🙂

    1. At least one is essential down there, but I have a feeling they may grab both. Great road team… And there ain’t no way they are gonna give up 5 goals for the 3rd straight game.

  5. I miss the sun and this gloomy weather is getting to me, too. However, what if we were stuck in a pattern of severe weather; or stuck in a relentless heat wave day after day? Or what if we had consistent heavy rains that brought flooding – I just hope that none of the rain we have into next week becomes a flooding situation.
TK, I think you mentioned something in an earlier blog that we are lucky to have this type of weather – it could be worse. What bothers me most are the longer days now and we can’t enjoy the sun early in the morning and later in the evening. I haven’t looked at any computer models lately but I feel that around or shortly after Memorial Day it will get warmer and sunnier.

Happy Birthday, TK, whatever day it is! 🙂

  6. Some how we’ve managed to dodge these batches of showers, this band seems like it’s staying south and west so far

  7. Go Bruins!! I gotta tell ya Football is my #1 sport by far 🙂 Go Patriots!! Been a Patriot fan since 1978, have a good day, I got 20 customers to do today, hopefully rain holds off

  8. The CPC is calling for above normal temperatures in both the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks so that gives hope to warm weather lovers. I always look for the positive when its gloomy out and thankfully were not dealing with flooding or severe weather like some parts of the country have dealt with this year, the lawns will be green, and the pollen is low.

    1. I’m thinking early June is when it will become hot when we r consistently in 70’s for highs, I may be the exception but this spring has been great IMO, 🙂

  9. The chilled NE wind and temps in the mid to upper 40s of yesterday have relaxed today, at least south of Boston. The wind is lighter and almost due east here in Marshfield and the temps are in the mid 50s. Tempwise, it feels a bit like this past Sunday again, almost mild and muggy. I notice that all the surface winds on the Cape are back around to the SE. I guess I can call this progress, at least in the temp dept. 🙂

  10. It really does look like a chance of showers Mon,Tue,Wed and maybe even Thu but next weekend looks good this far out will c

  11. I’m going to Florida next week. Didn’t think it had the advantage of escaping winter still when I booked last January.

  12. Next week is supposed to be rainy again – will it least be warmer than this week?

  13. I don’t know rainshine. Looks like we’re locked and loaded for a crappy summer. Now I know what the dinosaurs went through during that nuclear winter.

    1. I don’t think this pattern goes all the way into summer, at least true summer. Don’t look for a repeat of 2010 either. 🙂

  14. Today’s CPC 8-14 day outlook is calling for well above normal temps, but also above normal precip. Is one week of dry, sunny weather just too much to ask? 🙁

  15. I love spring time but I really want some nice weather. Europe has been having a great spring which makes think about the blocking pattern that we are in and what impacts their spring climate has on ours.

  16. I disagree I think next week will be more like downpours as to fog and drizzle, also instead of 50-55 for highs, highs next week look seasonably mild with temps around 70 but a muggy 70 🙁 I’d rather it be a dry 80, or a dry 60, the muggies I dislike, it reminds me of Florida only not 95, have a great day 🙂

  17. Next week won’t be as bad this week but I see the chance of showers and thunderstorms with a cold front coming in Tuesday Wednesday time frame but certainly not an all day washout. Thankfully the heaviest rain with this is missing us and affecting western CT Northern NJ and the Hudson River Valley and also the severe weather with an EF 0 in the Northeast Philadelphia, PA today.

  18. Pete Bouchard is forecasting 80’s and tons of sun for most of next week but I have a bad feeling he will have to backtrack come tomorrow. It seems he always ends up doing just that. Heck, after what we have been through, I’ll take near 70 and only “partly” sunny skies with NO rain.

    1. Certainly warmer next week, 80s and tons of sun most of the week? Not going there right now. Good luck Mr. Bouchard!

  19. It’s so weird, everytime we have been dodging the showers, even the main event later tonight looks like it’s fizzling out, I can’t believe what I thought would be a rainy week has turned into just a cloudy and foggy week, personally I thought we would have gotten much more rain, it’s just weird, got a big day outside working tomorrow, not much happening here, just been foggy since Mon it’s kinda crazy 🙂

  20. Charlie the rain must be avoiding you bc everything here is just soaked to the bone. No flooding but decent amounts if rain last night. NWS talking about much better conditions by Tuesday.

    1. I haven’t gotten a tremendous amount this week – just over an inch total in Woburn. It sure has been damp, and wet, but not drenching rain here other than brief downpours a few times.

  21. We must have had hard rain in Framingham too as our porch is flooded yet again. At least it is not humid since that’s the only thing I can think of at the moment that would make this feel even worse. I’ll take cool and rain long before humid, muggy and rain.
