    1. John, the lawn services around here have all been working so hopefully you can also. Good luck.

        1. I should have said landscaping services. They are all working. Not cutting grass but spring cleanups.

          1. I did get an offer for weekly cutting on the job I’m on now and to look at another I’m just not interested . Just clean -ups and debris removal .

            1. John – not sure how to clarify my point. It is clean ups and debris removal I am seeing despite the rain/drizzle. I suspect the weather won’t stop you from that.

  1. I am a fan of this weather myself…I take it when I can because it won’t be long until the HHH is back for the season.

  2. Miserable morning! Day 3 in this disgusting string of dreary weather. I can’t stand it!!
Spring is the only season I detest in NE!

This week will seriously retard the badly needed warming of our off shore waters.

Here is how we start off our day:

Station 44013 (LLNR 420) – BOSTON 16 NM East of Boston, MA Image indicating link to RSS feed of recent meteorological observations for station 44013
Boston Approach Lighted Buoy BF NOAA 44013

    Water Temperature (WTMP): 46.9 °F

I must admit, it is warmer than I expected. A pleasant surprise on this PUTRID
    day in May.

      1. You caught that, eh? 😀

So what’s going on in Manchester?
Feds looking for stolen art (from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston) at some mobster’s home there.

        Weird.

  3. Has anyone used anything that works and that is completely organic (minus all chemicals) for mosquito control? I hear peppermint and garlic (although I love the smell of garlic, I do not want to smell it every time I go outdoors), but do not know if they work.

  4. It’ll be hot before you know it. Heat is building across much of North America. We’re last in line, but I don’t think I’m going out on a limb by saying it’s going to be warm to hot within a few weeks, and remain so through summer as the prevailing westerlies take over.

    1. You are probably correct, however, we must suffer now to get there.

I am trying to roll with it, but it is getting mighty depressing!

      1. It’s depressing. I agree. But, I’m glad we in Boston don’t have to deal with this as much as people in Seattle or other rainy cities. What surprised me most after returning to Boston from my stay overseas was the amount of sun we get, especially in summer, fall, and winter.

        1. Agreed, those 3 seasons tend to be fairly sunny interspersed with cloudy/rainy days.

The Spring, on the other hand, tends to be cloudy/dank/drizzly/rainy interspersed with occasional
          sunny days.

        2. I posted a link to Cliff Mass’s weather blog yesterday. Apparently, the pacific northwest has had unusually warm temps so far this spring.

Mac’s cousin who lives on Puget sound bought a winter home in AZ a couple of years ago. She is a weather nut also.

          1. Here is a tweet from NWS Seattle about that warmth.
With the record warm April #Seattle has had 7 record warm months in the last 19 months. Oct & Dec in 2014. Feb, Mar, Jun, Jul in 2015. #wawx

  5. 15 years ago it was the last day of a 3 day heat wave that May started off with lasting from the 1st to the 3rd. Spring is a season of ups and downs and to me if you get two to three weeks in Spring which are nice be thankful. We had one of those nice weeks back in the week of the 17th in April.
Mark good to your Islanders tonight. I don’t think they could get behind in this series against the Lightning.

    1. I remember that well. I was going through a very nasty virus for two weeks and could not “enjoy” the very summer like temps.

    2. Thanks JJ. The Isles need to bounce back with a win tonight. I think they can do it – home arena should be rocking!

  6. Philip it was my junior year in high school when that happened. School had no AC and it was uncomfortable having to wear a shirt and tie which was the school uniform. Each of those days I was so happy to get out of there and change into clothing much more comfortable.

  7. PNW has its warmest spring weather when there is a Southwest cutoff and a trough in the East. Usually the very persistent ringing and easterly flow which is very warm.

    1. Makes sense even to me. Thanks. I thought the blog was a good read. I like to pop on over to the west coast occasionally 🙂

  8. Mark at worst the Isles need to be two two going back to Tampa. If they lose both these games I don’t see them coming back down three one against this team. Your right Barclays arena will be rocking. I am rooting for them which is rare for a Rangers fan to root for the Islanders.

    1. I agree, 3-1 down would be all she wrote. Don’t think that will happen though. These teams match up pretty well and I think the Islanders win at least one on home ice.

  9. If my new system is accurate, we have .49 rain since noon yesterday. I have yet to figure how to view just today’s

        1. Appreciate it, Blackstone. Seems mine is accurate. I only set it up at noon yesterday but have .24 since midnight today and .49 since noon. Thank you for giving me your data as it helps me to know how well the system is working.

I have 52.7 for a temperature at 12:47. I wish it had DP…I was short sighted in not looking for that but for now it is fine and I can get DP on wunder.

  10. Looks like two main slugs of rain the rest of this week – tomorrow PM/evening and again Friday look the wettest from what I am seeing on the models.

Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday may very well end up being mostly dry. In fact the weekend doesn’t look half bad with some breaks of sun and warmer temps pushing or exceeding 70 across the interior.

  11. I wonder if that Sunday cold front has thunderstorm potential with it ??

Probably dependent on surface warmth and dew points as well as timing of cold frontal passage.

Decent surface low, decent 500 mb low, some turning of the wind with height. That’s my take on the EURO anyway.

    1. Just took a look at the Euro. It has thunderstorm potential, but it is for
Saturday and not Sunday. Pre-frontal trough?

We’ll have to watch that. Good catch Tom.

I’ve been pretty busy with other things and have not been doing much model
watching. I’ve just been following TK’s and Eric’s forecasts is pretty much all and viewing posts here. 😀

      1. I hear you on being busy !!

You probably have the timing correct, I always mess that up. 🙂 🙂

  12. I see a 90F in the central province of Alberta, Canada. Probably in the vicinity of 55 to 60N Latitude.

  13. The GFS is getting the right idea… 2 weeks too soon. Some things never change. 😉

  14. Sanders wins Indiana….Cruz drops out…Duane Browns 10 game PED suspension is overturned because the test results were influenced by meat he ate

A brief news break ….now back to weather ⚡️☀️

  15. I really hope someday we limit campaigns to 6 months.
2 years is far too long. 😛

I’m still puzzled by all of these headlines and live videos with wording like “rain rain go away” .. like we’re having flooding issues? WE NEED RAIN because we run a significant long term deficit. And during the entire stretch of “nasty” weather, which isn’t actually that nasty if you want to go by the definition of the word, we’re only losing 2 weekend days (last Sunday and this Saturday) to lots of clouds but not a lot of rain. In fact the only negative thing about all of this is that being influenced by low pressure as long as we are, you’d hope for at least more beneficial rain. Ah well, can’t have everything! 😛

    1. We have not even had an inch here. Has anyplace?

Yes on six weeks and yes on blind trusts for campaign dollars…..no one knows where money comes from, no special favors in return, and equal money to each candidate
