Tuesday Forecast

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 20-24)…
One front dissipates along the New England South Coast today while a second one pushes eastward across the region. The latter will bring drier air be tonight but before that it will be a fairly humid day with fog and clouds to start, a few showers in southeastern MA, and then a clearing trend. High pressure dominates with fair and warm weather for midweek. A cold front approaches Friday, another warm day, with a chance of showers late. This front may be slow to exit initially on Saturday which may hold onto clouds after an early shower threat ends, but will be cooler.
TODAY: Mainly cloudy morning – areas of fog dissipating by mid morning, a few showers in southeastern MA through mid morning. Partly to mostly sunny afternoon. Humid but starting to dry out later. Highs 78-86. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Less humid. Lows 57-65. Wind light W.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 75-83. Wind NW up to 10 MPH.

FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Late-day shower or thunderstorm possible. Lows 55-63. Highs 78-86.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Early-day shower possible. Lows 55-63. Highs 64-71.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 25-29)…
Changeable weather during this time but no widespread beneficial rain. Look for dry/breezy/cool weather September 25, briefly milder with late-day showers September 26, dry/breezy/cool again September 27, and dry weather with a warming trend September 28-29.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 30-OCTOBER 4)…
A brief shower risk early in the period and perhaps a risk of rain by the end of the period but overall dry and mild.

  1. Well, I guess that’s it for any appreciable rain for awhile – until maybe Fri. and I don’t think that will be much – certainly not like yesterday. I wish the rain would have covered more areas. Oh, well. But I am looking forward to the cooler weather nxt. wknd. and nxt. wk.

  2. Good Foggy Morning – outside feels like the inside of my brain πŸ™‚

    Thank you, TK.

Grandson was quite excited when he noticed the fog before I did and then I explained that fog was like standing in a cloud but on the ground.

As for me….loved yesterday – love today – can’t wait for cool this weekend as I have an Oktoberfest to attend and that calls for cool, fall weather πŸ™‚

          1. Loved their first 3 albums. In 2011 they released an album of remakes of some of their earlier stuff and it is actually quite good (as opposed to most new versions).

    1. I have been saying all week play Julian . I bet he plays at some point if Jimmy is out . Wondering if the pats are just screwing with Houston cause I can’t see Jimmy playing Thursday.

      1. Who knows.

No matter what, since the Pats did NOT sign a back up QB, then
        something is up.

Could be that Jimmy G. will be “at least” up to suiting up
and being able to back up Brisset in an emergency, but
Brisset will still be staring Thursday with Jimmy G. perhaps be able to start against Buffalo.

All of this is of course nothing but speculation at this point.

        1. I do not understand why there is a debate about letting 7B have a go at it. We have two under out belt. He looked better than G10 in preseason (not saying he is better just that he looked better) and that is what his role is.

          1. I think what happens is that QB7 starts with QB10
as the emergency back up and 11 as the supreme emergency back up. That “appears” to be the
            current thinking.

We may know a bit more pretty soon when we
hear about how practice went and whether or not 10 can even lift his arm.

      2. Before G10’s injury, there was already talk that 11 would be the backup if needed. Whatever BB does, I’m not questioning it. He has proven himself far too many times for me to be that silly……unless (yes there is always an exception to the rule) he gets either G10 or 11 injured. I just believe he is not that foolish.

  3. Regarding the band America…
Seen them live about 5 times, most times for free at the Topfield Fair. πŸ˜‰
They still sound great!! They hang around after the shows like many of the older acts to meet the fans.

    1. So did you get to speak with them?

I never really got to talk with any real band members, unless you want to count Vinnie Campisi of the Rocking Ram Rods from the 60s. Since they never made it big, that cannot be counted. πŸ˜€

  4. Just my opinion here, but there’s no way Jimmy G plays or even suits up for Thursday night’s game. All this talk is purely gamesmanship. Bill wants the Texans to have to at least prepare for the possibility they face Jimmy. Much like Gronk’s status for the first 2 weeks. I don’t think he had any intention of playing in those games (or the next 2), but the uncertainly forced the opponents to prepare for him to play.

    1. Agree. Jimmy’s not playing. He’ll be listed as out by tomorrow’s injury report. If he could back up, he’d start. QB7 goes down, Edelman goes in and hands the ball to Blount the rest of the game. They get beat and “we’re on to Buffalo”.
And yes, Gronkowski was never going to play until Brady comes back week 5.

    2. Exactly. I think it was MassBay who said the same yesterday.

And bill made it clear at a press conference today to let it go

  5. Last comments . No way He plays and no way he will be the backup . I don’t think he plays again this year in my opinion . Julian will be the backup QB Thursday night and I think this will be a tough game . BB knows damn well what the game plan is already . Just my opinion .

    1. It’ll look like that last game of the season last year against Miami. Simple, get no one hurt and move on to Wrecks Ryan in 10 days.

    2. I guess we will find out. Anything right now is pure speculation.
      We all have our opinions.

I don’t think he will be out the rest of the season. In fact, it would not surprise
me if he played on Thursday.

But right now, we simply do not know.

      I look forward to Thursday.

  6. FWIW, the GFS seems pretty consistent the last hand full of runs in developing something in the Caribbean and bringing it up towards the Florida at the end of its long range. Wonder if that signal continues for the next several days ……….

    1. Yes, but that is a long way off and the preliminary guidance would suggest
even if that were to verify that it would take a right hook out to Sea. πŸ˜€

    Jimmy Garoppolo

FOXBORO β€” As of now, it doesn’t appear like Jimmy Garoppolo will be ready to start Thursday night.

Garoppolo wasn’t present for the start of the Patriots walkthrough on Tuesday on the backfields of Gillette Stadium as the team prepares for its matchup with the Texans on Thursday night.

      1. Man I hate it when the Texans come to town. Have to listen to all the announcers making verbal love to JJ Watt. Guy is overrated and useless when he comes here at he gets double teamed the whole game. Still they will shove those visual stills of him with his mouth agape screaming in the air at every opportunity.

        1. You’re absolutely right about Watt being overrated. He has done nothing to make his team elite. Great defensive player? Yes. Game changer? No.

    1. Should be fine. I think there may be a lot of clouds around that day, but the shower threat should be limited to the far southern areas first thing in the day, and possibly a few diurnal pop ups over the hills later in the day. Expect an increasing breeze and it to be much cooler than the day before it will be.

  8. After making an attempt at turning the pattern wet on their longer range, CPC has returned to the dry train for the 6-10 and 8-14. They do have a cooler than normal corner in the Northeast for the 6-10 and less cool for the 8-14.

  9. NCEI published the monthly state of the climate report today for August. Highlights:

*Warmest August on record globally, beating August 2015 by .05C
*16 consecutive warmest months on record
*Warmest August on record in much of the Northeast US

Sure felt like summer out there today, and will again for a couple more. A more robust taste of fall by the weekend.
By the way, 18z GFS precip for the next 16 days? About .1-.25″ for most of the region. Ouch.

  10. Just watched the Wake of 38. Not sure if you are reading, Captain, but I cannot thank you enough. I think we need to revisit worrying about who gets the forecast right and be very thankful we at least have warning. I remember my mom telling me they had no idea when she and her mom left Belmont on public for a day of shopping in Boston. But WOW.

Most of all, I think the resiliency was what struck me. Why does it take a catastrophic event for is to work together. I hope others were able to find and record it. Can you imagine 186 mph on blue hills just before their instruments blew apart?

They said some compare it to Carol in 54. That I remember and again no warning. But the old timers who went through both said 38 was by far worse than Carol

  11. Glad you liked the documentary, Vicki. I believe it won a local Emmy. It was very well done.

Another Big Papi home run. His 36th.
    Absolutely incredible what he’s doing!!!

    Sox up, 5-1, Bottom 5.
