DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 20-24)

DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 25-29)
A couple of strung out low pressure areas will keep the weather unsettled at times and yet another one may be around later in the period. The timing of systems, degree of impact, and temperature profile are all somewhat uncertain at this stage and will be fine tuned going forward.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 30-DECEMBER 4)
Fair weather early in the period. Another passing system may bring some precipitation somewhere in the first few days of December. Temperatures near to above normal.

  1. I’m really starting to think the Thanksgiving system is going to be a whole lot of not much at all. Actually had this feeling for a few days.

  2. If you want something to look for, I’d keep an eye on early next weekend. I totally agree with TK that the Thanksgiving system is largely a non-event. Something may be brewing behind it though, with offshore low pressure development. The 12z NAVGEM is a worst case scenario in that it looks like a full fledged winter storm. The 12z Euro showed a lot of rain on Saturday from the developing low. And last night’s parallel Euro (scheduled to go operational this week) was very interesting and not unlike the NAVGEM run. A weaker event on Thanksgiving may actually provide more favorable conditions for something bigger to develop behind it. Just something to watch…

          1. Disagree.

That could be a classic back end snow dump
as winds back more towards the North and moisture is still there.

Rain likely at the front end though.

            😀

  3. 10″ snowstorm under way in Ottawa.
There’s a Canadian Football League semi-final playoff game being televised right now on ESPNews (572 on my cable) in the snowstorm if you want to see something interesting.

There’s something fun about watching football in snow!

    No snow in San Francisco.

    Go Pats!

  4. Thank you, TK. I lurk but don’t post much these days. I want you to know your insights are always much appreciated.

This fall has been absolutely spectacular in terms of sunny days and temperatures. Also, the first 3 weeks of November were about as good as November can get. But, today’s weather marks a cutoff – a sharp one – between a stretch of mostly beautiful weather and a period of a more `normal’ late fall pattern. I’m fine with it as I think fall and winter around here are great.

  5. Speaking of football, what’s it looking like for the rivalry high school games Thanksgiving morning?

    1. Probably a broken middle to high overcast with any spotty light snow/mix far northwest of Boston having ended, then maybe re-thickening overcast by early afternoon south and west of Boston with any rain holding off, if it gets this far.

      1. Thank you, TK…Will be heading to Carver for a 10 am kickoff.

        Hope you’re doing much better…

  6. I just need Saturday & Sunday of next week dry and non windy . I’ll have 3 jobs going and probably a wrap on a fantastic first full season of business.

  7. Go to a good base reflectivity radar. You will see 3 features that could impact northeast and New England snowfall totals this upcoming winter. Lake effect snow bands with long, penetrating fetches, upsloping oragraphic snows, and valley shadows effects.

  8. So far I’ve seen 2 people who swore they’d never watch the Pats again because of political reasons admit they are watching today. 😉

  9. Offense doesn’t look great either. Kinda reminds me of the 2009 team. Good roster, great on paper, but just can’t take coaching and play well together.

  10. Sooooo we put window lights in. I’ve always loved a colonial with Christmas lights in window. If I go sit in chair on front lawn and look at snow and lights, what are odds the neighbors will have someone come take me away

    1. I’m putting our light in the windows next Friday. I have a thing that I will not put up Christmas decorations up until after thanksgiving.

      1. Not I. I have this thing where I like to enjoy them as much as possible. To me they never get old so why wait. That said, we have a ton of decorating….possibly more inside than out…so is more enjoyable to do a little at a time or it gets overwhelming. I also leave them up through a good part of winter so I can turn on when it snows.

        1. I’m just the opposite. By New Year’s Day they’re down, gone, and back in the attic. As much as I hate winter, by January 1, I’m on my 90 day count down till April.

          1. We are all different. That’s what makes the world go round. Would be rather dull if we were all the same 🙂

            1. The earliest I’d take anything down would be January 8. For little Christmas on the 6th and my mom, God bless her, literally holding on until the 7th when she knew she would not affect the season she loved so much and taught my brother and me to love.

    1. Wasn’t me. I’m still the flake in Sutton

MassBay….I like your 77.7. I am surprised I didn’t think of it. I have a good feeling about that.

  11. Vicki, Nice to hear you’ve got the Christmas lights on in your colonial. It’s so dark at this point in the year that having lights in the windows really brightens things up.

  12. I have my outside chords ready. My project will run November 25-30 and will involve decorating 17 rooms (though only about a half dozen are really filled) as well as outside. We light it up on December 1.

    1. I know your weekend after thanksgiving is as crazy as ours…and many others. But it is fun too. We did a couple of outside trees yesterday. We are sort of feeling our way through the new decorations. I find I need some fun right now to keep me centered. I actually got the grandkids to convince their mom we needed the lights on today 🙂 I got a manger silhouette from teak isle that I still need to assemble. I am really excited about that.

We have to put up lights without cords. Then cords. Otherwise three year old will turn them all on :).

      1. Good for you Vicki! We bought a new tree and put it up. Kids were begging. Like you said more time to enjoy. It goes by so fast!

        1. You made me smile. And even better….you made your kids smile !!! My oldest would like to change Christmas to January. Christ probably was not born in December anyway. Everything is too lumped together so makes it so hard to enjoy each.

  13. Out door decorations go up 25 to 28.

snowflakes are in the air this evening. Not accumulating its those small tiny flakes

there looks to be some cool temperatures around but the track of the systems and the strength being weak look like they will travel to the north of the region/right over us with no cold high to the north. Like TK has stated, weak storm thanksgiving area.

  14. Vicki, I’m hanging in there. After many years, docs have finally found the root cause of my migraines: chronic `mild’ gastritis and GERD. The GI tract and central nervous system interact as we all know, but the precise directional causality is often far from clear. In my case, it appears the recently diagnosed (but probably present for many years) inflammation of the stomach is probably responsible for periodic headaches as well. Meds (mostly acid reducers, which I never took prior to 4 months ago) are helping somewhat. They’ve lessened the gut and head issues, but the latter do rear their ugly head every 10 days or so. Trying to adhere to a strict diet in addition to the meds. Easier said than done. My GI doc says there really isn’t magic bullet, but that I’m faring well all things considered.

    1. Really? I have gerd and didn’t realize that treating it may have stopped my migraines. If it is ok, I’ll email you tomorrow. Daughter has had horrible migraines since high school. They are way more controlled now but would like to ask you a few questions

And I am soooo very happy that they have finally figured out a link.

      1. Since I’m a health economist and come from a family of doctors I’ve invariably followed the peer-reviewed medical literature. A linkage between GI issues and migraines is evident. For example, people with IBS often have migraines. But, please note that causality is not yet pinned down. And, someone with IBS or other GI-related issues such as gastritis or GERD does not necessarily have migraines. It’s just that the two often correlate. In my case they examined me as a case study of sorts – food diary, etc … – and noticed a correlation. For me, thankfully, the GI and migraine issues have been more a pain in the butt than a debilitating thing. However, as hyperacidity built up in my GI tract the past year or so the episodes would recur somewhat more frequently. Annoying, but it has never prevented me from working or functioning. It’s just cut down on my quality of life at times.

  15. Got the coating of snow back I had earlier in the day. Been a steady light snow for couple hours now. Pavement is wet.

  16. Elevation playing a big role with the snow here in CT. Norfolk, CT up in northwest CT and above 1,000 feet has 13.5 inches of snow.

  17. With moderate overall confidence I have posted my winter outlook. I have also posted my guesses for the snowfall contest.

  18. Now that I have some white on the ground I was able to get in the mood and make some predictions! Went outside for a bit it’s actually quite icy and slippery on some surfaces, porch, etc.,careful if you go out.

    1. Gotta love CCR. Read it. Excellent. We’re in fairly decent agreement forecast-wise heading through the week.

I just posted my new update, so after you folks check out SAK’s, you can head over to the new post and comment away!

      Happy Monday. 🙂

    2. Very nice. Spent a lot of chore time today listening to Credence Clearwater

      And of course…..

Oh the wind is lashing lustily
And the trees are thrashing thrustily
And the leaves are rustling gustily
So it’s rather safe to say
That it seems that it may turn out to be
It feels that it will undoubtedly
It looks like a rather blustery day, today
It sounds that it may turn out to be
      Feels that it will undoubtedly
Looks like a rather blustery day today
