The Week Ahead

11:30PM

A memorable weather week is drawing to a close, highlighted by record heat on Friday and some severe storms across southeastern MA on Saturday. What’s coming up in the week ahead? Read on…

A warm front approaching from the southwest will send clouds into the region Monday, though most shower activity should occur at night. It will be on the cool side ahead of this front during the day. We’ll be in the warm sector on Tuesday when it will become more humid, though not excessively so. A cold front moving through during the evening may trigger a few thunderstorms. This sets us up for a great day Wednesday with warm and dry weather as high pressure builds over the region. This high will slide off the East Coast by Thursday and Friday, allowing the humidity and some heat to return. A couple disturbances passing through the region may cause some showers and thunderstorms at times on those days. Looking ahead to next weekend, the early call is warm to hot and dry.

  1. hope from aug 26 – labor will be hot/sunny/humid thats my vacation week.. work your magical powers 😉

  2. TK – thanks for your reply last evening. Right after I replied to Hadi I shut off my computer and we went out for pizza – so sorry I didn’t reply last evening.

I am looking forward to a meet-up also, wherever. And I am looking forward to meeting everyone and Barry!

  3. No change in the thunderstorm index from yesterday. Still at a 1 for today and tomorrow since I am not expecting severe weather.
Wednesday is my pick off the week.

  4. Severe Thunderstorm Watch up to the west of New England with a severe thunderstorm and even a tornado warning inside that watch box. I think the activity will weaken as it pushes into our area since there is a lot of cloud cover which will greatly diminish the threat of severe weather. I am not saying there won’t be the chance for thunderstorms but the ingredients are not there for big storms which is why I am only going with a 1 on the thunderstorm index.

  5. Thanks, JimmyJames for the Tstorm update – glad to hear you are keeping it at a 1

I like the idea of the meet and greet also and inviting Barry would be GREAT! Todd Gross did that for the Ch 7 weather watchers before he was escorted out. It was a tremendous success. He had a well known speaker on the Worcester tornado give a talk too. I can’t remember his name but suspect someone here can.

95 in the Dedham area seems central to a lot who post here although I don’t know many locations

    1. A good amount of this rain may crap out on its way into Metro Boston. There is instability at mid levels but alot of stability and dry air just below that. So while it has just started to rain here in the NW suburbs it looks like the focus of this first batch is to the north and we have to wait for another round or 2 of action later this evening into the overnight hours. That said, parts of the Boston area will get wet for a while in the next couple hours.

Going to update the blog for slightly faster timing of evening rain.
