Wednesday Forecast

6:45AM

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 28-JULY 2)
A light westerly will try to bring a sunny, mild, and dry early summer day, but lingering cold air aloft will allow clouds to pop up again, but unlike yesterday, there is not enough of a disturbance to create as many showers and thunderstorms, just a few isolated ones, favoring northern MA and southern NH. Even these areas have a low probability of seeing anything in any particular location. A warm front will push across the region Thursday, opening the door to higher humidity by the end of the day and continuing for the last day of June on Friday and the beginning of July and the start of the holiday weekend, which is loosely defined as Saturday through Tuesday this time.
TODAY: Sunny into late morning then partly cloudy. Isolated showers and thunderstorms favoring northern MA and southern NH this afternoon. Highs 75-83. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 58-64. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. More humid late. Highs 75-83. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated thunderstorms favoring southern NH and northern MA late. Humid. Lows 65-72. Wind light SW.
FRIDAY: Variably cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong. Humid. Highs 78-85 South Coast, 86-92 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.
SATURDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Slight chance of thunderstorms, favoring the late night. Humid. Lows from the upper 60s to middle 70s. Highs from the upper 70s to middle 80s South Coast and upper 80s to lower 90s elsewhere.
SUNDAY: Variably cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely in the morning and midday, diminishing thereafter. Humid. Lows from the upper 60s to middle 70s. Highs in the 80s except cooler South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 3-7)
High pressure moves in for Monday July 3 and Tuesday July 4 with drier and seasonably warm summer weather based on current timing. Increasing humidity again July 5-7 with a risk of a few showers and thunderstorms at times as a southwesterly flow returns.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 8-12)
Some uncertainty so a low confidence forecast here. Current thinking is fairly muggy weather with occasional showers and thunderstorms, but no long-lasting rain, during this period.

  1. Thanks TK. WxWatcher I did get quite a bit of thunder and lightning from that cell and pretty good wind gusts. Got some pea sized hail too but not enough to cover the ground. Made it interesting though!

    1. Good Morning, MamaM! How were your storms? It seemed you were in one of the harder and consistently hit areas?

  2. Thanks TK.
Those were some hail pictures from yesterday’s storms that I saw posted on twitter. I only got pea size hail where I am. We maybe radar watching again Friday.

  3. 12z NAM for Friday showing CAPE between 1,000-1,5000 for SNE.
Mid level lapse rates are good greater than 6.0. Supercell composite values in a good chunk of SNE greater than 1.0 higher values just over the MA boarder in NH VT.

    1. I am not getting excited right now. We shall see. Those parameters have been all over the place for days. Let’s see what they say Friday AM.

FWIW, last night Eric indicated that Sunday would be the best bet for
thunderstorms. Models indicate best instability is Friday, but perhaps the better lift would be Sunday. I don’t know at this point.

  4. We shall see. The one reason I got my eye on it is TK in this blog said some maybe strong for Friday. On the 12z NAM the greatest instability for Fri is just over the MA boarder. SPC has us in general thunderstorm category for Friday.

    1. I understand completely. TK said some strong. He did not say some severe. 😀
He could certainly change his mind as we get closer.

  5. Bouncing a bit between accounts. At times I’m on a computer that I can’t use the WHW account on. This may happen off and on through Friday.

  6. Thank you TK.

It has been a tough couple of days for me and my family as my Dad passed away early yesterday morning. I got my love for weather from my dad. Her sure loved a good storm.

    1. Sue, my heart aches for you. I knew something about the power of yesterday had to do with your dad. Now I know what it was……….a celebration of the strength and beauty of his life.

      1. Mark nice pic of the hail you posted on yesterday’s blog. I only had pea size hail here.
Toughest loss of the season for Yankees last night and not a good stretch losing 11 of 14.

    2. I completely understand the feeling of this loss. And I sympathize and send love and comfort.

Time will heal. Memories are forever.

    3. Sue…very sorry to hear about your Dad. I know what your going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  7. We missed out on the storms yesterday down on the Cape, which was fine 🙂

There was a busy south/southwest wind however.

Today, a much lighter breeze. We some some cumulus for a while this afternoon, but things appear to have stabilized. About as non-humid a day as you can get on Cape Cod in late June. Just perfect !!

    4th of July crowd hasn’t arrived yet. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  8. Sue – I’m so sorry about your loss. Here at WHW I would venture to say that there is no greater tribute to your Dad than mentioning that it was from him that you came by your love of weather. So it is because of him that we get the joy of knowing you.

  9. Sue, my deepest sympathy, love, prayers and blessings on the loss of your beloved dad.

  10. Thank you all so much. I must say a special thank you on here to Vicki as she has been an amazing source of support for me through Facebook messages. As a matter of fact she was the first person I messaged when my dad passed. Her sweet words and perspective of the situation kept me sane. If not for WHW I would not know Vicki so a special thank you to TK for creating this amazing family.

    1. I am at a loss for words and cannot see through the tears to type them. I truly had no idea. Your kind words stopped me short. Your strength and your love for not only your dad, but also your mom and your boys…your entire family….was inspiring. I was just very humbled to be able to help in any way I could. Thank you, my dear friend!

  11. New post..nothing really new. Short on time this morning and will re-update later.
