Tuesday Forecast

7:35AM

DAYS 1-5 (APRIL 24-28)
High pressure drifts to the east of New England today but fair and mild weather hangs on, except the typical cooler spring air at the coast. Low pressure will track northeastward from the Mid Atlantic through New England Wednesday with wet weather, pulling way Thursday with improving weather. A follow-up but smaller low pressure area will track northeastward and over or just east of New England by late Friday or very early Saturday with some additional rain possible. By Saturday, a cold front will approach from the west but may hold off its shower threat until late day or night.
Detailed forecast…
TODAY: Mostly sunny morning. Partly cloudy afternoon. Highs 57-63 coast and 64-70 interior but will fall midday and afternoon South Coast and late day East Coast. Wind SW to SE 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Clouding up. Rain arriving southwest to northeast overnight. Lows 43-49. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Cloudy with rain likely morning. Mostly cloudy with rain showers likely and thunderstorms possible afternoon. Highs 52-58. Wind SE to S 10-20 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Scattered showers. Patchy fog. Lows 44-50. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Chance of rain showers early. Highs 55-63, coolest South Coast. Wind SW to W 10-20 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. A period of rain possible late day to late night. Lows in the 40s. Highs from the upper 50s to middle 60s.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Late day rain showers possible. Lows from the upper 40s to middle 50s. Highs in the 60s.

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 29-MAY 3)
Breezy, cooler, dry April 29 then fair and seasonable April 30 as an upper low pressure trough departs and surface high pressure approaches from the west. A building ridge of high pressure along the East Coast and the lack of surface high pressure in Canada is a recipe for fair weather and above to much above normal temperatures during the first few days of May.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 4-8)
High pressure should dominate with a fair and warm start to this period then a couple disturbances eventually bring a shower risk and some slight cooling but temperatures still likely remaining above normal through the end of the period.

  1. So the GFS is advertising a pretty decent stretch of warm to border line hot weather (80s to near 90 at some points) the 1st week of MAY, while the Euro has nice temps, mainly 60s and some low 70s, BUT no 80s. I wonder which one will be correct??

  2. Thank you, TK.

I’m not giving up on the Bruins, I just don’t think they’re in a good position right now. I really believe the Leafs have the momentum. We’ll see what happens.

    1. I think Toronto has the better offensive talent, while the Bruins have the slightly deeper team. I feel like the Bruins can play a great team game and lose, because they don’t have as many talented offensive players as the Leafs have. It feels like Toronto can play less well and still win with individual amazing plays from Matthews, Marner and co.

      1. I will just say it once and that’s it I’m not sure what to think regarding the game tomorrow the leafs are flying high on momentum and are definitely playing like they want it more . I feel like they win tomorrow but have serious reservations. I’m not happy with goaltending and I’ll leave it at that . If the bruins do loose tomorrow it will be a shame because they were the dominant team in the beginning. Good day .

    2. I fear it will be a Claude repeat where they are way ahead in a series, then lose it.
I hope not, but that is my fear. You could see it in Cassidy’s face and hear it in his voice while being interviewed. It was if he was saying, OH CRAP!!
      We shall see soon enough.

      1. Goaltending appears as the issue right now for the Bruins. Toronto’s Anderson is HOT so Bruins need to figure him out somehow.

      2. I just don’t feel as though it will be a bad loss to blow a 3-1 lead to Toronto. They have enough to win the Cup themselves. I wish the NHL seeded 1-8 in the conference. Without checking the standings, if they seeded that way based on points, Boston/Toronto would have been the 2 and 3 seeds. I don’t look at this as a 2 vs 7 matchup, its a 2 vs 3 in the first round, which is not right.

        1. Had it been seeded based on points, the matchups would have been …..

          Tampa Bay vs NJ
          Boston vs Columbus
          Washington vs Philadelphia
          Toronto vs Pittsburgh

          1. So, by losing that last game at home to Florida, the Bruins got matched up against a 3 seed instead of an 8 seed.

            1. Regardless of the matchup, that’s what the Bruins get for not taking care of business in the first place.

        2. Tom speaking of points, you have made an excellent one.

However, I would NOT let them off of the hook should they lose. That was their series to WIN and it should have been over by now.

If they lose, SHAME on them. A change in coach will have made no difference whatsoever. Same ole MO.
And IF this were to happen, they will NEVER live that one down. NEVER!

Now let us HOPE we do NOT have to go down that road!!!

          GO BRUINS!!

            1. Just being real and telling it as it is.
They had a fantastic season and I for one would HATE to see it go down in flames with a one and out performance. I don’t care if it is against a #1,2,3 or 8 seed. It makes no difference to me.

            2. I guess I’m the clueless fan for being optimistic. So be it. I still stick by what I say. 😛

  3. Thanks TK. One more spectacular day underway before a midweek speed bump.

I’d put money on at least a top 10 warmest May coming up, maybe better.

  4. 12Z GFS looks like a Torch for the 1st week of May. We shall see.
I am betting it doesn’t come down as depicted by the GFS, but should be nice
weather just the same. I’ll take low 60s and low 70s for the 1st week of May.

  5. The problem with basing the performance of a current team on a season a few years ago: It’s useless. It’s not the same team.

“Such and such happened in 2013 so therefore this is going to happen in 2018”. Nope. Doesn’t work. This is why they actually PLAY the games. I think that’s pretty simple to understand.

Also, I can’t wait for the complaints next week when it gets over 80 in some places that it’s too hot. Oh wait, before that, people will be bitching on Friday because it’s too humid, because the dew point may actually go over 60. You watch.

By the way in case you haven’t noticed, my SNARK level is WAY UP today. 😉 Good thing I’m going out to visit a friend later and won’t really be online much anywhere. 😛

But geez after last night watching Bruins fans abandoning the team and the series (on a fan page I belong to)… that was pretty disappointing. They’re not real fans, they are FAIR WEATHER FANS. Pathetic.

This little piece of improv .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9OH96YeRZY ..by Hootie & The Blowfish is my theme for them…

    1. I’m smiling. I LOVE snark. But most of all I love the song. I’ve said the same too often on here. A team struggling needs the fans more than when they are on top….that separates the true fans from the…. well, fairweather fans. 🙂

      1. I won’t deny being disappointed and a little frustrated with the play the last 3 games, but they are humans too, and currently being outplayed by a “better team”, which is defined by play in individual games, not stats on paper. I believe in them though, and I think they get game 7. And if I’m wrong, I’m wrong. I’m with them all the way. 🙂

  6. I wish my hockey team was playing a game 7 tomorrow instead missing the postseason for the first time since the 09-10 season.

  7. I am a New York Rangers fan. I am hoping GM Jeff Gorton drafts well with the picks we got and some of these prospects turn out to be good. Rangers need to get younger, have speed, and some physical players. I am not upset they were sellers at the trade deadline since this team at best was going to win one playoff series and was not a Cup contender.

  8. Goof ball Gronk finally lets coach know he’s playing . I would have shipped his smart ass right out of town . I’ve lost all respect for Gronk the way he dangled a carrot over the team.

    1. Maybe you don’t know the whole story. I believe blows to the head were a part of it….not something I think anyone should second guess. Either way…I am not sure weighing health risks is dangling

      1. You’re right about blows to the head and health risks. But, I’m sorry, Gronkowski owes it to his team to let them know that this is what is driving his decision-making. He should not hold his team hostage. Certainly not for months on end. Nobody can do that in real life. His comments on Saturday were below the belt, quite frankly.

        1. Thank you Joshua I’ve been hearing this all winter . He basically gave the middle finger to his team & said make a move . Serious I could care less about him & he was my favorite player . Who the hell does he think he is . Trust me this was not health related Gronk said so himself

      2. Many reports all winter and if you have been following this there was many Gronk reported he was the healthiest ever . This was absolutely about B.B. and Alex the trainer. And the same goes with Brady. Do you ever remember a season when Tom declares I’m playing this Season . Major issues going on with the patriots. I would like to add Gronk is excellent in the charity field great guy but his behaviors this season towards his team & fans was extremely childish & unprofessional.

        1. Unless you are there and know first hand, it is hard to say for sure. I could be 100% wrong but it’s my moral compass …right or wrong.

I’m not going to debate it. I simply don’t judge another until I walk in his shoes. No one should be surprised by that as I hold firmly true to it. You certainly have the right to believe differently…as does anyone .

    2. Would have liked to be a fly on the wall in Bill’s office. I think he made it clear to Gronkowski that his antics will no longer be tolerated. Great player, but a narcissistic dingbat. My kind of Patriot players have been the Matthew Slater types, James Develin, Julian Edelman, Devin McCourty, Jerrod Mayo. Not much flash, but a lot of class.

      1. Oddly, I know a couple of folks who know gronk well and both say he has a huge heart. I tend to believe that media and distant views are not always reliable

        1. That may indeed be true. I obviously don’t know him, so I can’t be a fair judge of his character. Nonetheless, I can say that I’ve never liked his personality or the kinds of people he associates with. But, that’s his choice.

Brady, on the other hand, strikes me as a grounded human being. He’s certainly into himself, and I don’t care for all the TB12 stuff. But, I’ve literally seen him with his children in the Esplanade Park at 6:30am. He loves his kids. He also joined a cause many years ago – Down’s Syndrome – which almost no athletes had done at the time. I have enormous respect for that.

          1. I learned a long time ago not to judge by media or what is done in the public eye. Gronk does a tremendous amount no one knows about. Many athletes do. Possibly most athletes do.

Drawing attention to causes often does not serve the cause well. Gronk has a bit of a childlike mentality…which is the kindest way I can think to word it.

IDK…I just prefer to not try and second guess folks.

And it goes back to TKs comments. Often I think Boston fans don’t deserve the teams and players they have.

            1. When it comes from Gronks mouth there is no second guessing there . The pats locker room is divided bills way is no longer working for many players again from there mouths

              1. A good portion of patriots nation has been worrying Gronk won’t be back. So he’s back and getting criticized.

            1. Gronk was basically asking for a trade but it was rumored B.B. would not do it as a sign of you don’t run the show I do Gronk had it been anybody else they would have been gone . I think next seasons team will look every more different than this years . That’s it for me it’s past my bedtime

  9. Did Gronk violate any NFL and/or team policy by not giving his answer until today? If yes, this matters. If no, it is meaningless.

    1. Of course your response is about what I expected . If anybody hasn’t followed this closely than maybe you shouldn’t comment . He played with the pats all off season and everyone knew it . Gronk himself was speaking it. Perhaps Joshua is the only one who gets it . Did anybody see him speak Saturday .

      1. Are you trying to tell me something?

Why don’t you send me a private message if you have a comment about me not getting something and we’ll deal with it there? This is not the place.

  10. The rumor business about potential trades, locker room rifts, character flaws, opinion differences, heated meetings, etc. is true at some point for every team in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL. The only way anyone could be unaware of this is if they haven’t followed sports for say … several decades. Separating fact from fiction in these situations can be fun to discuss, but does anyone really know 100% of the truth with perfect certainty?

I agree with TK that Gronk did not violate any NFL or team policy by waiting until the last minute. The rest of it represents storytelling … fun to do especially over beer (or in my case, cabernet) if it’s kept civil, but always filled to the brim with flawed speculations and opinions.

In the meantime, I smell warmth headed our way. I would like to see 3 days in a row of over 70 degree weather please.
