Wednesday Forecast

6:58AM

DAYS 1-5 (MAY 8-12)
High pressure moves in today and hangs on well into Thursday with fair weather. Low pressure tracks north of the region Thursday night through Friday bringing a warm front / cold front combo and more unsettled weather. But that won’t be hanging around as another set-up similar to today/Thursday occurs over the weekend, leaving us with the question of how many dry hours we can hang onto for Mother’s Day as the next low pressure area approaches. This low will be further south than Friday’s and will threaten a more widespread rain, but may also be delayed in its arrival, saving most of the day from rain.
Forecast details…
TODAY: Mostly sunny except partly sunny South Coast. Highs 55-62 coast, 62-69 interior. Wind light variable with sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear except partly cloudy South Coast. Lows 36-43 interior valleys, 43-50 elsewhere with mildest urban centers. Wind light variable.
THURSDAY: Sunshine followed by increasing cloudiness. Highs 58-65, cooling back along the coast. Wind light SE.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Rain likely north and west of Boston. Rain possible from Boston south. Lows 47-54. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. Rain showers likely. Highs 52-59 coast, 60-67 interior. Wind SE 5-15 MPH shifting to S.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Rain showers ending west to east. Areas of fog. Lows 45-52. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Early clouds, then mostly sunny. Highs 57-64. Wind W 5-15 MPH and gusty.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 40-47. Wind light W.
SUNDAY: Increasing clouds. Chance of rain afternoon. Highs 58-65, coolest coast. Wind light variable to SE.

DAYS 6-10 (MAY 13-17)
A broad low pressure area brings wet weather May 13 followed by clearing May 14, then a smaller low pressure system brings a risk of rain showers later May 15 to early May 16. Additional low may have to be watched for May 17 but leaning toward drier at this time. Temperatures near normal overall.

DAYS 11-15 (MAY 18-22)
I am cautiously optimistic for a drier overall pattern and near to above normal temperatures. Still have low confidence this far in advance.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.
Here’s hoping that Sunday remains dry at least till sunset. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I recall Mother’s Day 2006. We went to Atlantica in Cohasset. My oldest wanted her wedding reception there so we thought we’d see how food was. There was flooding everywhere and water was dripping into buckets on the diningroom floor. Food, however, was exceptional so we booked the date for May 12, 2007.

  2. Thanks TK !

    Yesterday was perfect !

Looking forward, I like that highs in the 40s might be very few and far between (even the upcoming cloudy, wet days seem to project into the 50s).

    Making progress !!

  3. For now, the tv mets are leaning wetter. Too bad we canโ€™t switch Saturdayโ€™s weather to Sunday.

  4. I’m trying to praise the good weather as much as I can, cause I’m going to complain about it, if/when it reverts back to bad habits, as a ch 4 meteorologist likes to say.

    1. To me – that is as fair as it gets. I am the first to file a complaint with a business if something that was in their control doesn’t work. I am also the first to call a business when they do something positive. Only fair.

  5. And last but never least since I read top to bottom, thank you TK….as always, I so appreciate your hard work and dedication.

  6. A paper about a 400 year el-nino Nino record using coral cores was released yesterday. The ocean is amazing

    1. Fair weather does that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I wasn’t kidding when I said most of the 4 days Mon-Thu would be very nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. As I said previously, I’m leaning toward a drier scenario for Sunday, not just rip & reading computer models or listening to other forecasters. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I remember it well. It was a few months before the great hurricane. I was just a young lad back then.

  7. Really nice today. I’m grateful for all the nice spring days, in spite of my occasional complaints about spring.

I’m in a funk, however, as my team – Amsterdam Ajax – lost in the final seconds of their Champions League semifinal. They were about to go through to the final, but literally seconds before the final whistle – 5 minutes into injury time (oh, that arbitrary thing called injury time, it drives me as an American crazy as it’s about as precise as, well, a snow measurement at Logan) – Tottenham Hotspurs’ Brazilian striker Lucas Moura broke all Amsterdam hearts (and mine) with his 3rd goal of the game. A hat trick is very unusual in soccer, and especially in a semifinal of the Champions League. I’ve shed some tears. I bleed Ajax red and white colors, just as I do the Bruins’ black and gold, and the Red Sox red and white for that matter.

  8. Hi TK,

Can you give a quick forecast for Kennebunkport Maine this weekend Friday to Sunday?

    Thank you
    TJ

    1. Sorry Iโ€™m no help. Kennebunkport is a beautiful area. Friends just sold their condo there. I hope you Enjoy your weekend

  9. Donโ€™t look now but the Red Sox are at .500 and playing Seattle this weekend who are 2-8 in their last 10 and now only 1 game over .500.
