DAYS 1-5 (JULY 13-17)
A more typical July weather pattern will be ours for the next several days. We’re still going to struggle to get some beneficial rainfall, but there are a couple of opportunities ahead for at least some areas. First, a bubble of high pressure and slightly less humid air than yesterday means today will be bright and very warm day, but the front that brought showers and thunderstorms to the region yesterday is sitting nearby and will be activated by a disturbance crossing the region during Thursday. This brings us the chance of showers and thunderstorms. High pressure builds in with dry weather for Friday and Saturday, into Sunday as well as the center slides offshore and we heat up a bit more, but by later Sunday and especially Sunday night the shower and thunderstorm chance is back as a frontal system approaches from the west.
TODAY: Clouds early morning portions of RI and southeastern MA, and clouds return from the west late-day, otherwise mostly sunny. Highs 85-92. Dew point falling through 60s. Wind variable to NW up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes possible.
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy. A shower possible overnight. Patchy ground fog. Lows 60-67. Dew point around 60. Wind N to variable up to 10 MPH.
THURSDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers, possibly a thunderstorm. Highs 78-85. Dew point lower 60s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Slight chance of an evening shower. Patchy fog. Lows 58-65. Dew point upper 50s. Wind N up to 10 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 78-85, coolest coast. Dew point middle 50s. Wind N up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 58-65. Dew point middle 50s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 80-87, coolest coast. Dew point upper 50s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 61-68. Dew point upper 50s. Wind SW under 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Showers and thunderstorms possible by late in the day. Highs 83-90. Dew point rising into 60s. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (JULY 18-22)
A low pressure area and frontal boundary will move across the region with a chance of showers and thunderstorms and high humidity during July 18. Drier and seasonably warm weather follows for a couple days before humidity and a shower/thunderstorm chance goes up again later in the period.
DAYS 11-15 (JULY 23-27)
A push of drier air possible early period, then warmer and more humid again by later in the period with a chance of showers/thunderstorms during the transition.
Good morning and thank you TK
Only a few drops of rain last evening here in JP.
Looks line some got some rain, but not here.
Thanks!
Thanks TK.
Logan came in at .01 inch. I don’t believe my neighborhood got even that much.
TK – Will tomorrow’s be more widespread?
Pete wished me better luck tomorrow. I’ll repeat here that I do not recall ever having a better light show than the storms that went south of us in RI and CT provided. It lasted well over two hours and was constant
I posted this last night

Thanks TK !
Thanks, TK!
Thanks, TK.
A few drops of rain last night. Only enough to annoy the trees, grass, and vegetation (they need a lot more).
Thanks TK.
For the 2nd time in 3 days, we had a heat burst in Wray, CO last evening. Wray is a tiny town on the Colorado plains, near the borders of both Nebraska and Kansas. Decaying thunderstorms nearby produced southwest winds that gusted to 63 mph at the airport. It was 73 degrees at 9:30pm before the heat burst, and at 10:30pm , when the winds started subsiding, it was 86 degrees.

Probably the most notable heat burst hit Pierre, SD on June 20, 1989. The temperature was still 85 degrees at 1am, but by 3am, it was up to 104!
Interesting. Thank you.
Not sure If I have ever heard of that term, HEAT BURST.
Could we call the Logan 5 or 6PM land breeze after a sea breeze all day a heat burst? where it could go from 75 to 90 in matter of 15-30 minutes or so?
Thank you.
By definition? No.
NWS Albuquerque has a page talking about them, including what defines ones:

Thanks TK.
Brutal here in Salisbury MD at the USSSA nationals softball tournament. 85 degrees but with a dewpoint of 73 the heat index is already into the low 90s. There is absolutely no breeze.
Had a huge thunderstorm and deluge of rain and wind move through here late last night that only added to the humidity. Ground is still very moist.
Perhaps this feels worse to me since we have had it relatively easy so far this summer in SNE with respect to heat and humidity!
Parts of Maryland – including the city of Baltimore – are known for very high dewpoints in summer, not much of a breeze, and heat.
Good luck at the tournament, Mark. Is your daughter playing?
Yes, we are here till at least Friday depending how far they go. They won their first game 7-1 and narrowly lost the second 3-2 this morning. Waiting for the third game to start and then we are done for today!
I could not live in the mid Atlantic or anywhere south of here. Too hot and humid in the summer and not enough snow in the winter 🙂
Keeping my fingers crossed, Mark, for today’s game.
I couldn’t live in the mid Atlantic, either, or any place in the South, for same reason: Weather.
Heck, I’m jealous of my daughter right now. She’s in Glasgow, Scotland, where it’s cloudy and 62F. Lisa told me yesterday over the phone “it’s your kind of weather, Dad, no humidity, no heat, and cool evenings in the upper 40s … feels like fall.”
I hear ya. And thanks Joshua.
Best wishes to your daughter. She has had an amazing year.
Maryland is an interesting state. As with you and Joshua, I could not live much south of here either. I do have fond memories of staying in Kent Narrows just north of you on our yearly drives to Charleston. We dropped over to 301 To avoid Baltimore and DC. Best darn crab cakes I have ever had but can’t recall the name of the restaurant.
I am pleased that it is only 82 here in JP so far for today.
I was afraid it would have been considerably higher than that.
The have and have nots last night. Just missed the bulk of it in Coventry.

That place is awesome ! The year we visited, it looked more like the dry photo.
Wow. Thanks, Mark
Thank you, Mark, for sharing the pictures of the last snowman standing and the falls in NY state (Taughannock). Last July was the wettest in 100 years; only 1921 was wetter, well, since we started recording weather data systematically in the 1800s.
Jays fired their manager, Montoyo. About time, in my humble opinion. The Blue Jays are a very good team, but really dysfunctional. Unlike the Red Sox – who are less talented overall than the Jays, anyway – the Jays have no injury excuse to speak of. They should be challenging the Yankees for a division title. Instead, they’re struggling to stay out of the cellar (in what is a very good division, but still).
87 with 60 DP. ‘Tis a warm one
82 here as we are feeling some effects of the sea breeze.
Lovely. I’m on deck now and it is also lovely. Gotta get my pre skunk time in
Anyone see a sea breeze front on this radar shot?

Sticks out like a sore thumb. 🙂
Nice !
Nice shot of Jamaica Pond taken by my son yesterday or Monday,
Yes he has tested negative for covid and is recovered.

That’s good news about your son JPD! 🙂
Nice photo as well!
Good news on your son, JpDave !
WONDERFUL news, JPD
Lovely photo. Reminds me a bit of norumbega
The tv mets believe that Monday will have the best opportunity for widespread rains. We will see.
JPD, nice shot of Jamaica Pond. It’s a kettle pond, I believe, and quite deep if I’m not mistaken.
A warm, sunny day, with a light seabreeze really does wonders for the ocean temp.
Now, it wasn’t Gulf of Mexico or even Nantucket Sound warm, but there was a noticeable milder difference today vs a few days ago, when the ocean was ice cold.
Thanks TK. .4 here last night and quite a light show. We also had 6 strikes within a half mile of us.
Crazy. Glad you are all ok. How are you feeling tonight
