Nice Weekend Ahead

3:25AM

A disturbance will cross the region from NW to SE today popping clouds and possible showers. There is a slight chance of some thunder and small hail with some of the showers, as it will be quite cold aloft, making the atmosphere very unstable. A nicer weekend is in store but it won’t be perfect as some clouds roll in late Saturday and again during Sunday as a warm front approaches late Saturday and a cold front approaches late Sunday. The early and middle part of next week look fairly unsettled once again.

TODAY: Sunny start then clouds popping up with scattered showers, a slight chance of thunder and small hail. High 62-67. Wind NW 10-20 MPH.

TONIGHT: Lots of clouds early then clearing. Low 46-51 except 41-46 inland valley areas. Wind NW diminishing to around 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Sunshine much of the day but increasing clouds from the NW late afternoon. High 70-75. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAYΒ  NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Low 50-55. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. High 72-77. Wind SW 10-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Low 53. High 69.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Low 53. High 67.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Low 51. High 65.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Low 50. High 63.

    1. Hi Rainshine – am I correct that today is your husband’s birthday? If so, please wish him very happy one !!!!

      1. Vicki – Thank you so much – how did you remember? Marc, my husband says thank you! πŸ™‚

        1. Hi rainshine – I remembered because it is close to my daughter’s anniversary (tomorrow) and Hadi’s baby’s due date πŸ™‚ Are you doing anything to celebrate?

Mac is feeling great thank you. He still wonders why the meds kept him out of it for so long but he managed to golf last night anyway πŸ™‚

          1. Happy anniversary to your daughter tomorrow! Hadi must really be excited – I never had the joy of having children (husband has/had medical conditions) so I kind of live the joy when someone else has a baby. When we were younger we thought of adopting but 1. it was very expensive and 2. we were told that the child’s real parent would have to be involved in the relationship. This was in the 70’s so I don’t know how it is now – sometimes now I wish we had tried a little harder to adopt. Oh, well.

We are just getting Italian for dinner – take-out. Marc hasn’t been feeling that well. Glad Mac is feeling better and got to play golf! πŸ™‚

            1. I’m sorry Marc isn’t feeling well. Where do you get the Italian?

I would have hesitated also if a requirement was to have the biological parent involved. There are enough problems with just two parents involved agreeing on what’s right

  1. The OOZ GFS still has the tropical system coming up the east coast. Still two weeks out and so much can change, but it has been on the GFS most of this week.

  2. Thank you TK!!! For the updated blog and for arranging for a lovely Mother’s Day weekend πŸ˜€

  3. Next week from Mon-Thu we could be experiencing more rain and possibly a significant amount. I know some will disagree but for some of us getting another 1-3 inches of rain is not really that good. It appears it will be a prolonged event as supposed to it all coming in 1 day. Again it 3-4 days away so it can change. Have a good day everyone πŸ™‚

    1. If we ever did get another storm that delivers 2-3 inches of rain, we could be closing in on 9 inches of rain the past 30 days,

  4. I will take rain during the week anytime to have nice weekends!! This weekend looks pretty nice overall and high pressure should start to build in by next Friday.

    1. I agree with that reasoning Hadi but now since i only have 1 more full week of school after this weekend… I want it to be dry through the weekend and all week with any rain falling at night πŸ™‚ or in the from of thunderstorms in the afternoon. I hope that this pattern breaks by next weekend. and Brad I hope you are right.

  5. 1 more week of this. Week of the 21st it settles down and goes into a more dry pattern. And I’m with Charlie, enough with the rain. We’re pretty close to even where I am, so after this next round, I’m done with it πŸ™‚

Oh, and there’s a wite up this morning on the weather channl’s web site on the tropical storm showing up on the GFS. They say it’s a bogus GFS quirk.

    1. I just saw that. Interesting. Time will tell. I am with Charlie on the rain. We are close to being even south of Boston.

  6. Thanks TK for the update! I hope your forecast for Mother’s Day holds. So far most forecasts including NWS introduce at least the chance for showers along with some sun.

Keeping my fingers crossed that sunshine rules for Mother’s Day! πŸ˜€

  7. Weather you predicted for today is right on target here TK. Lots of dark clouds and temp is 58.3.

    1. Glad that is working out. I have had a less than stellar track record of late. πŸ˜› Here in Reading we have a patchwork sky of blue and various forms of cumulus clouds as we approach noon.

  8. Perfect temps next 36hrs IMO, lows tonight in the mid 40’s and tommorrow’s high around 75, if I could bottle these temps up for late Aug when I’m sick of hhh I would. πŸ™‚

  9. If we had full sunshine on Sunday, coulda woulda shoulda…85-90.
But with the clouds around, middle 70’s to around 80 seems reasonable.

  10. 40’s at night and upper 70’s is perfect. If I could lock that in for 5 months I would be a happy guy πŸ™‚

    1. 40’s is too cold for summer. I need 60’s at least for lows june-labor day, and would prefer at least a month of low’s in the 70’s

      1. Good grief no, that’s the temps I hate, I remember those temps and it was absolutely miserable, but I know u like them πŸ™‚

        1. Ill still never understand you guys that don’t like summer. I ll give you some highs in the 20’s next January if u give me some lows in the 70s so I can use my pool at night in July on occasion. Besides, you can turn on your a/c. πŸ™‚

          1. I don’t mind summer at all.

So I’ll give you lows in the 70s if the highs are in the 80s. Maybe we should all outline our perfect weather including all seasons πŸ™‚

          2. I love summer more than any other season, just hate the high temps and humidity at night.

              1. I’ve had the pool open since April, the kids have been in it 5 or 6 times already, pool water is 61.9 degrees

          3. I love summer it just depends what kind of summer, Dallas from May-Oct is miserable, here it’s not to bad, it wouldn’t phase me in the least if we never hit 90 again, once it goes over 80 I begin to go into this mood change, it’s very weird πŸ™‚

  11. My daughter lives beside a bee keeper. He said because the flowers came out so early there is no nectar so the bees aren’t making honey.

    1. My grandson for a butterfly house with the caterpillars for Easter. All five came put of the crysalis (sp) last week and he released them two days ago. They are still flying all, over our yard. I would have thought they’d just fly away

      1. its good if they have gardens. That will keep the butterflies around. If they stay all year round some of them will lay eggs and a new generation will be formed. Or if they are migrating butterflies they will come back next year.

        1. I am still waiting for monarchs to come up. This is the only species of bug that i track and keep track. I tag the ones that I raise release them and see if they come back the following year. Lets see if it happens or not. last year was the first time doing it here

          1. Matt these are monarch type but I don’t know exactly what they are. Does that mean they may stay around our yard. We do have gardens.

    1. I know it’s nature but awwwwww

Matt I love that you are so close to your brothers. My kids are all best friends. My brother was my best friend always

      1. Sad thing is that we do not know exactly if it was by natural causes or not . It might have been pochers or hunters. There were no antlers on the skull πŸ™

  12. I am going to be enjoying this weekend because most of next week UGH!!! I don’t think it rains all the time but enough of the time to put the UGH meter up to a 8.

    1. I’d be happy with this trade for 4 more weeks. Helps to keep the students more focused if the work/school week weather is not so great. Of course, beginning at midday on June 12th, nice…summer weather is needed full time. πŸ™‚

    1. Yes! Best morning of the spring so far IMO.

I work a few weekends at a golf driving range and I was more than happy to open up the range early this morning πŸ™‚

  13. Climate data (Courtesy of Taunton NWS) thru May 11th for the first 1/3 of May……

Logan : -2.2F temp departure, +0.85 inch rainfall departure

    Hartford, CT : -0.2F, +0.76 inches

    Providence, CT : -1.2F, +1.06 inches

    Worcester: -1.1F, +0.57 inches

  14. Very mild weather (relatively speaking) is currently surrounding Hudson Bay. It’s currently in the mid 30s to mid 40s, with much of that region destined to reach btwn 45F and 60F…….from north to south. Like watching the visible satellite loop up there this time of year, as the ice and snow cover slowly melt away.

  15. Something spinning with plenty of convection in the eastern Pacific, south of Mexico. Another sign of summer quickly approaching.
