Thursday PM Update

2:41PM

Day-before-wedding crazies continue! Here’s a quick forecast update…

High pressure rules through the daytime on Friday with great weather (a warm land breeze most areas today and a cooler ocean breeze Friday). An unsettled stretch begins Saturday as upper level low pressure parks itself over the Northeast. It won’t be raining all the time, but expect unsettled days with cooler than normal temperatures Saturday into the middle of next week.

Forecast for eastern MA, southeastern NH, and RI…

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny. High around 80, 70s coast.  Wind N 10-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Low from 50 inland valleys to near 60 coast. Light wind.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. High around 70, 60s coast. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely. Low 58. High 68.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of showers. Low 55. High 70.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Low 53. High 66.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Low 52. High 65.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Isolated showers. Low 52. High 65.

  1. It looks like Saturday will be the worst of the next several. Of all the days I have to be outside. 🙁

  2. Hey TK…can you give a rough timeline of Saturday’s rain? Pete has most of the rain in the morning with “tapering” showers for the afternoon. Other forecasts I have seen so far have all day downpours.

Pete’s forecast would be the “best” for me, but I would like your opinion. Thanks in advance. 🙂

    1. Harv’s Futurecast showed most of the rain after 4PM!! hahahahaha!! I guess it’s still ‘up in the air’.

My gut feeling says 2 rounds of rain. One light one in the morning, and one moderate one sometime afternoon or night. I know that sounds rather vague but I honestly am not sure how this plays out yet.

        1. Well by later Friday we should have the timing down pretty well. I won’t be able to blog for several hours starting this afternoon as I am going to a wedding, so I’m hoping the update I toss in before that has decent timing on rain, etc.

  3. Thanks TK.

What an awful week coming up and of course I have it off to spend with the baby!! So frustrating!

    1. I think that may not be the case from what I see this morning. While it may not be a downpour all week, I don’t think we see the sun for a week. Maybe a week from Saturday. All in all, this looks like the same set up wee saw around the second week of June last year. I haven’t looked at the euro yet, but the GFS shows that cutoff low MAYBE moving out by the 9th.

  4. I believe most get around a half inch of rain Sat am, some isolated lower and higher amounts 🙂

  5. What a beautiful morning and just to think what we have on our doorstep for the next week or so!!

  6. Phillip I see most of the heavy rain earlier in the day as well, as a dry slot should come in later in the day.

  7. From Taunton NWS Climo section (the May numbers are in)

Logan : +2.4F monthly temp departure
    Hartford : +4.3F
    Providence : +3.0F
    Worcester : +4.6F

Another well above average temp wise month, which may surprise those in eastern sections. This surprise may be understandable because there were not a lot of warm days within a reasonable distance close to the coastline. However, the overnight lows were WELL above normal.

June ? : Well, the safe bet, given the past several months, is to say above normal and I wouldnt go against it. By June 6th or 7th, Logan’s June anomoly may well be 6 to 10F below normal. However, the EURO is showing signs of the block easing after this time frame and if today’s long range were to verify, I’d say 70s and 80s will be arriving back in the region sometime during June 7th thru 10th.

    1. Thanks Tom and I agree with your June comments as well. It’s the year above normal so far!

  8. Good morning and what a glorious morning it is! The Best Buddies Challenge is tomorrow and other than snow I’m not sure I could imagine worse conditions – not only rain but high winds for the 100 mile bike ride. I have incredible admiration for anyone participating under the best of conditions.

  9. Thanks, TK. Enjoy the wedding!

This is just me guessing – my gut feeling about next week. Although there have been some pretty dreary summers in the past, I think there will be some sunshine, as JJ said he thinks there might be some at some point next week. At this time of year, the sun is strong and can sometimes break through the overcast. If I’m wrong, oh well. I just hope that we get enough hazy, hot, sunny and humid days this summer.

    1. I agree rainshine and overall we have had incredible weather all year so a week or two of not perfect is hard to argue with 🙂 How is your husband today?

  10. I’ll have you know that when I read “An unsettled stretch” it made me stretch. 😛

I guess I am going to be sleepy all week because rain does that to me. Hahaha
