DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 10-14)
An unsettled weather day today as a trough moves through. Low pressure passing by to the north will drag a warm front through, followed by a cold front. This will result in episodes of showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms. A warmer, drier westerly air flow replaces this at midweek for Wednesday and Thursday. However, the sun that shines on these days will not be bright as it will be filtered by significant Canadian wildfire smoke. The next disturbance will send some clouds and maybe a passing shower into the region Friday and it will be a bit less warm. The weekend may start unsettled as another area of moisture passes through the region in a west northwest flow aloft on Saturday. Surface wind may become broad scale onshore making it a much cooler start to the weekend, depending on the orientation of the features by that time…
TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog. Showers likely. Chance of thunderstorms. Highs 68-75. Wind E up to 10 MPH shifting to S 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Foggy areas early. Mainly cloudy evening with showers and thunderstorms fading as they move eastward. Clearing overnight. Lows 55-62. Wind variable under 10 MPH, then W 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Smoke-filtered sun. Highs 78-85. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: High altitude smoke. Lows 56-63. Wind W up to 10 MPH.
THURSDAY: Smoke-filtered sun. Highs 78-85. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 56-63. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: A sun / cloud mix with a chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm. Highs 73-80. Wind W to NW 5-15 MPH with higher gusts.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers overnight. Lows 56-63. Wind N to NE up to 10 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, favoring morning-midday. Some clearing possible later. Highs 64-71. Wind NE to E 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (JUNE 15-19)
Still leaning toward mid period as the most likely time for the next bout of unsettled / wet weather. No significant heat in sight.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 20-24)
Indications for the general large scale pattern point to a middle US high pressure ridge and more of a west northwesterly air flow in our region with a weak trough being the main feature. This allows a couple disturbances / fronts with shower / thunderstorm threats. Variable temperatures – not far from normal overall. Summer Solstice: 10:54 p.m. June 20.
Good morning and thank you TK
another miserable day. so what else is new?
Thanks TK
Thanks, TK!
59 degrees and 0.02″ in the bucket when I left.
Murky and grungy were the two words that kept popping into my head when thinking of this morning’s weather on the drive in.
Grungy was an adjective used a lot by long-time Red Sox radio announcer Ned Martin to describe foggy, gray days at Fenway.
TK, Joshua and everyone under the weather, hope y’all are feeling better! π
Murky and grungy , my sentiments exactly!!! This weather really sucks!!!!
Thanks TK !
Hope you and Joshua are feeling better today.
Thank you, TK.
CF, you reminded me of one of my favorite announcers on the radio and TV, Ned Martin. I miss the old radio voices, but also the no nonsense announcing. I may be alone on this, but I strongly dislike listening to games nowadays in which the announcers give in-game management/coaching/strategy commentary and even advice. And it isn’t just the color commentator – as I’d sort of be okay with that – rather it’s everyone in the booth. It’s annoying. Shut up and just call the game as objectively as you can.
And another thing that annoys the crap out of me is the overrating of prospects. I don’t think it’s unique to Boston. But it’s prevalent here. From prospects Campbell to Mayer to Anthony, there’s way too much hype. They’re prospects, folks. They may turn out to be good big league players. But there’s also a good chance they don’t pan out. Reserve judgment. Wait and see. And certainly don’t make a determination after a one-week hot streak or a one-week slump.
SPC outlook for today

So are we going to have another non-summer where every Saturday is a weak trough driven rainy mess?
Thanks TK! I hope you are on the mend. From a brightness perspective there is no difference to me between now and early December. These are two of the darkest June days I can remember. Not doing much for my energy which is hard to believe for this time of year.
Thank you, TK. I donβt think we saw the fog overnight. But I also think we are seeing more sun here than other areas.
TK and Joshua and everyone under the weather, I hope you feel better quickly
Last time I checked, there is lightning activity with storms south of Long Island.
I tried Wordle for the first time 2 weeks ago and did not fare well. Part of that was just understanding the rules. Then didn’t bother again until today.
So I tried today’s game and got the word on the 3rd try.
Is that any good or just routine? I am generally not very good
at games like this, but I wanted to give it a try again. One could get hooked on this game. I think that at my age, a game like this can help to keep my brain sharp OR show me how brain dead I am. π π π
Cheers and thanks
Yay. That is excellent. It took me five today. A few friends and I share on FB each day. It took her five also. There were lots of choices.
These are my stats. Four seems to be my strongest. I have played more than the 753. Oddly when I switched from iPad to iPhone, Wordle didnt combine the two.

I like to use a different word to start every day. The one that I picked today was VERY lucky. I got three of the letters on the first guess and one was in the right location. I could only think of one possibility for the second guess, and it was the solution. This hardly ever happens.
JPD – One thing to keep in mind is that there are many more words allowed as guesses than words that will be the solution. Based on my experience, the solution will never be something like the plural of a four-letter word, say “books.” But you could use that as a guess. It’s the same with obscure words, like Vicki’s “quass.”
Thanks SClarke and Vickie.
I just used CRAFT as the first word as I read online somewhere that it was a reasonable first guess. Then I got 3 letters, one in the correct location. That is a big help. II SHOULD have gotten it in 2 guesses, but I am new to this and fudged around with another word first. Then It just jumped out at me.
I guess that happens sometimes. I’ll try again tomorrow and see how I do.
Many thanks
Funny, I started with “draft”!
Truly, So we both got the same letters. π
I have started with the same first two words since the beginning. The couple of times I have changed didnβt go well. They cover all vowels. Occasionally Iβll have enough with the first that I donβt add the second. I feel as if that rarely gets me a two and often adds ar least one guess
Both friends I play with on FB had 5/6 today also.
I play at midnight when the new one comes out every day. Often a word will just pop into my head which is fun and somewhat eerie. A friend nicknamed it midnight madness I agree
I use the same starting word every day. I got it right on the first try once and kind of felt I reached the pinnacle at that point so what is the use of playing anymore. BUT…I still play. π
I remember your getting it in one. That is remarkable.
Is that dry air eating up the showers? Not holding it’s ground as it moves further north.
Thanks, TK!
Thanks hoping itβs a go for my huge job on Saturday.

Thunderstorm nearing the Vineyard.
Thank you TK! I hope you are feeling better.
I looked at the comment list on the left side of the blog screen today, and the first two were “Vicki” & “Sue”, which prompted my brain to immediately create an imaginary 3rd name “Robinson” and start thinking of this disco gem from 1976…
Lip-synch in full force on American Bandstand, but so what. It was fun. π
I remember back when it was “cool” to hate disco, I pretended to share my brothers’ opinions, but I secretly did not, and they never saw through the smoke screen I put up in front of them as an 8 to 12 year old during the “disco era”. In fact, disco & pop & soft rock songs from that period of time trigger more good memories than rock songs do, though I have some in that category too – Boston, The Cars, etc. π

Gloria Estefan did a great cover of this song.
I generally hated disco, but we did see Gloria Estefan at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. 1st row. Truly awesome show. she blew the roof off the place!!!
I generally hated disco, but we did see Gloria Estefan at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. 1st row. Truly awesome show. she blew the roof off the place!!!boy did she ever do a great cover!!!!
Funny note. Back in my black jack playing days, I teamed with a guy from Philadelphia who used to be one of the dancers on American Bandstand.
Nice π
I mean you can like or hate whatever music you want.
My problem was always with people who would trash certain types of music as if it’s not a form of the art. Well, they’re incorrect.
I write electronic music, yet I’m a drummer. Oooo – I’m committing a crime! π
For sure. We all have a right to like what we want.
There were actually some disco tunes that I did like, just not very many.
Don’t ask me why, but I liked this tune by the tramps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5lSeYd_riw
And this tune by Donna Summer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhcaPNuaJNU
And the kinks tried to pass this off as Disco. And I liked it.

I liked most of Gloria Estefan’s music. Go figure.
But most disco I did not like.
The Latin infusion in Gloria’s music is very appealing to many.
I personally love that influence in music. I’m a huge fan of it, reggae, Brazilian, etc.
There’s an aritst (guitarist) Lee Ritenour who has heavy Brazilian influence in his music. One of my favorite artists to listen to. π
Some of his music has been used on TWC for local forecast music in the past. π
So fun. I remember bandstand from mid 50s. A friends sister watched it. I just wanted to play with our Ginny Dolls
Love this. Disco was when mac and I were raising three littles and didnβt pay much attention. One son in law was a big disco fan. I seem to recall he gets teased by his wife and kids π
It’s become quite foggy here in the NW suburbs early this evening…
No fog here yet. But I donβt see any fog statement.
Anybody else listening to this guy?

Silly snoopy and Woodstock. No rain here

Still foggy here, but thinned out a bit. I think there’s a bit of wind now just ahead of the front, which has not gone by me yet. Showers just to the west have largely dissipated except a cluster in southern Worcester County. Not much support to carry them to the coast.
And 45 minutes later, after 11:15PM, not a hint of wind, still foggy. Yet the wind is NW at Providence. That front must be right down the road from me – still waiting…
