DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 27 – JULY 1)

Our cooler interlude continues today as a weak area of high pressure builds from Atlantic Canada southward to the Gulf of Maine. This will eliminate any shower chances, although a lot of cloudiness will still be around. Thinning out of that cloud cover at times can allow for some sunshine, particularly in northeastern MA and southeastern NH, closest to the Gulf of Maine high pressure area. The front that put an end to our heat the other day has been sitting off to our south and is going to start making a return to the north soon. This will impact our weather Saturday, to start the weekend, generating some shower activity in the morning hours, although the most concentrated activity looks like it will occur north of I-90, and should be done by mid to late morning, followed by many rain-free hours with no more than an isolated pop up shower possible in a few locations. Temperatures will display a bit of a contrast on Saturday due to the front’s advance being slowed, with coolest conditions near the NH Seacoast and warmest conditions just away from the South Coast in northeastern CT, northern RI, and adjacent southern MA. I don’t expect abundant sun on Saturday, but there can be some intervals of it. Low pressure passing by to our north will drag a cold front through the region during the late night hours of Saturday and very early hours of Sunday, with a round of showers, but this should be offshore by about sunrise on Sunday, and a small area of high pressure is expected to provide fair weather Sunday and Monday with a warming trend for the last couple days of June.

TODAY: Considerably cloudy. Highs 67-74, coolest coast. Dew point sub-60. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers especially north of I-90 overnight. Fog patches form. Lows 60-67. Dew point near 60. Wind E to SE under 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Shower chance is greatest north of I-90 morning, but isolated to scattered showers are possible at any time. Highs 68-75 southeastern NH and eastern MA, 75-82 elsewhere. Dew point 60+. Wind E up to 10 MPH southern NH and northeastern MA, SE to S up to 10 MPH elsewhere.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Showers are most likely overnight from northwest to southeast. Patchy fog. Lows 62-69. Dew point 60+. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY: Sun/cloud mix. Highs 76-83. Dew point 60+. Wind S up to 10 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 61-68. Dew point 60+. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Sun/cloud mix. Highs 76-83 South Coast / Cape Cod, 83-90 elsewhere. Dew point in 60s. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 65-72. Dew point 65+. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Highs 85-92 except cooler South Coast / Cape Cod. Dew point 65+. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 2-6)

High pressure provides great summer weather July 2-4, but a passing disturbance to the north may trigger a shower or thunderstorm mainly north and west of Boston at some point July 3. Watching for a disturbance to bring a little unsettled weather at some point over the July 5-6 weekend, but recent guidance trends are for less of an impact and mostly fair weather.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 7-11)

A couple brief periods of unsettled weather in an otherwise mainly dry and seasonably warm pattern.

  1. Thanks, TK.

Bill Moyers died. He lived a long life. He was 91. But still, I’m saddened by the news. There might not be any other TV journalist I respected more. May he rest in peace. https://apnews.com/article/bill-moyers-dead-eed7ecae0e20c2db4b82500996916dfe?

I miss the likes of John McLaughlin, Louis Rukeyser, and Bill Moyers. These types aren’t coming back. Most TV journalism nowadays in the U.S. is so subpar, so partisan, so uninformative, so sensationalist.

  2. Thanks TK
One day next week with dew points over 70. An improvement from earlier this week.
    From NWS BOS
    Dew points are
manageable most days in the 60s, while Tuesday these climb to the
lower 70s ahead of the approaching cold front.

    1. I am fed up with it.

Such a “plain” word and I couldn’t get it. Had to cheat and get a hint. When I saw that the word started with “p”, I got it on the 5th guess! Everything just looks scrambled to me.

I’ll keep trying with the hope that I improve. ha ha
We shall see. NEVER been good with things like this. 🙂

      1. Just getting it is awesome. But it took me a while to not want to get it in two or three. Five has been my number for a bit. Games like wordle have never been my strong point Either. I think you do find “tricks” to help. If I have three letters, I try to group them for the first three, middle three or last three and see if they trigger something in my mind. Today I had three in first two guesses and they ended being the middle three

I also look for combinations to start the word such as CH or PL or SH. And if I have the letter U, I’ll see if if it is a QU word. This may just work for me as it’s how my mind works. And it doesn’t always work but a lot of times it helps.

        1. Thanks. I’ll keep at it. Hoping it comes to me.
Pretty disappointed so far. I should be doing better. 🙂

      2. I also got today’s in three.

Here’s something that can help me. Say that today I had
        P ? A ? N where the ?s are unknown. I put an X in for the first ?
        P X A ? N

Then I replace the second ? with available letters looking for something that I recognize. So I’d type in things like:
        P X A W N
        P X A R N
        P X A S N
        P X A I N

        If that makes any sense…

        1. Makes perfect sense. I try stuff like that as well, but doesn’t seem to do my any good. 🙂 🙂 🙂

          1. I’ve had a few times when the correct letter that went into the spot marked by the ‘X’ was in fact ‘X’!

            1. I had that happen once and had a laugh.

If I have all but one or two letters and am completely stumped, I’ll start repeating the combination adding the remaining letters. I’ve had words take that I never knew were words. If that makes any sense at all

It’s a fun game on its own but I like to challenge myself with fun new techniques

  3. From the NWS discussion Tues the only day with dew points 70 plus the rest of the week dew points in the 60s which is far better than where we were earlier this week.

    1. Excellent article. MY wife has been saying this for some time.
She even says I spend too much time on my phone, which is true. 🙂

  4. Note to self: the blog comments are not safe to read until I play wordle which is usually later in the evening. So I can’t read the blog comments until the evening. So much for mid day weather chatter checking! lmao.

    1. Sorry About that. I suppose I gave it away today. I shall endeavor not to do that again. We don’t won’t you not to read the blog.

      1. Never intentional and Always a learning experience. I hope I didn’t give anything away I try to be very careful but can surely unintentionally slip.

  5. Messed up the “day 1” sky condition forecast, which always seems to happen to me a few times a year. 😉

Thankfully it’s a case of I forecast it to be too cloudy, and it ends up sunnier. So people usually don’t mind the bonus sunshine. 😉

    1. Quite alright, TK !

Pretty sunny day headed up to Old Orchard Beach to start camping.

Around 70F, low humidity, it was a great day !

  6. Just curious if you have ball park forecast for weather over July and August. No real specifics other than estimate of number of heat waves and 90 plus days etc. Also have we seen the high water mark for this summer? Thanks.

    1. No way to tell if we’ve seen it, but odds favor June 24 to be the hottest day of the summer for some locations.

That will be less impactful than a protracted heatwave with high humidity, which we have not seen yet, but could at any point (just not during the next week to 10 days at least).

Overall, my feeling remains basically the same. In the long haul, kind of a “normal” summer. But the normal is the average of extremes, and we can see those for sure. Just did. Very hot to very cool in a matter of 2 days.

  7. All I am going to say is that the Patriots training camp next month can’t come soon enough.

    1. Commanders here vs Pats preseason and joint practice. Love that Maye vs. Daniel’s on the practice field. My kids and I are going to. First time in decades I am excited and proud of my team. lol

  8. Remarkable the shift from unbearable 102-108 (car temp) to 60’s. Love NE for that ability. Very few places on earth ca get that hot and that cool that fast.
