Sunday June 29 2025 Forecast (7:11AM)

DAYS 1-5 (JUNE 29 – JULY 3)

We start Sunday morning with a layer of low clouds and fog over southeastern NH, eastern MA, and southern RI, which will erode and dissipate with the arrival of drier air today, and the sun that greets areas to the west will expand into the clouded/fogged in areas later this morning, making for a very nice Sunday – warmer but less humid than yesterday was. High pressure builds in today and shifts offshore Monday into Tuesday. This allows for further warming and a summertime feel early in the week. Fair weather prevails Monday, but an approaching cold front Tuesday will trigger showers and thunderstorms, some potentially strong to severe. Monitoring that and set to fine-tune the details during the next couple updates. Behind that system, a warm and dry day is expected Wednesday. Another disturbance can trigger an afternoon shower or thunderstorm west and north of Boston Thursday, but otherwise warm and mainly dry weather is expected.

TODAY: Low clouds & fog southeastern NH, eastern MA, southern RI early. Sunshine elsewhere expands into the aforementioned areas before noon. Highs 80-87, cooler Cape Cod. Dew point falls to near 60. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Patchy ground fog. Lows 60-67. Dew point near 60. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Sun/cloud mix. Highs 76-83 South Coast / Cape Cod, 83-90 elsewhere. Dew point in 60s. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Lows 65-72. Dew point 65+. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Highs 85-92 except cooler South Coast / Cape Cod. Dew point 65+. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 61-68. Dew point falls below 60. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 81-88. Dew point in 50s. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 61-68. Dew point in 50s. Wind W up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. A shower or thunderstorm possible in the afternoon mainly northern MA and southern NH. Highs 81-88. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 4-8)

The overall evolution of things looks a little slower today than recently, but this is still good news for Independence Day and the weekend (July 4-6). Other than possibly some clouds and an early-day shower in eastern areas on July 4 with the departure of a disturbance, high pressure builds in with fair weather. The holiday is low humidity and seasonably warm. The weekend itself is a little warmer and only slightly more humid. Looking to early next week a slow-arriving frontal boundary brings the chance of showers and thunderstorms – timing and details TBD.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 9-13)

The early part of the period looks fair with lower humidity. There are hints of a little more humidity and unsettled weather with high pressure to the north and an upper low to the south toward the end of this period – will monitor this trend on guidance.

  1. Thank you TK. I always liked the weather and bought my first weather kit when I was in elementary school. Because of you, I am more conscious about the effects of weather.

I have climbed Mt Cardigan a number of times, but yesterday’s climb had dangerous points as the result of weather. The granite rocks were wet and slippery and I slid twice. Coming back down, I could not locate the trailhead because of clouds / fog / mist. Because of you, I upgraded my GPS and used binoculars to locate the one sign at the top and I had the right clothes. Temp was 49 F. Because of WHW, I think about this stuff more often.

    1. Gland you made a safe climb down. I think we have all benefited from WHW in one way or another. Thank you TK for that!

  2. Thanks Tk . My 4 day weekend of no work starts on Thursday & so happy it will be nice weather for the 4th

  3. Full sun here with temp 74 and dp 67.
Rather high on the dp. Shouldn’t that be coming down some now
    and NOT going up????

  4. 12Z HRRR hints at a sea breeze for the immediate coast today.
We shall see if that materializes or not. Otherwise about 87 or so, down from the 90 it was predicting yesterday morning.

  5. Watches TWISTERS for the 3rd time yesterday and I think I enjoyed it MORE than the 1st 2 times. Love that movie. Were there some stretches in credibility? sure there were as I could point out several, but ignoring that and just enjoying the ride was wonderful.

For a different kind of movie I would recommend Evelyn starring Pierce Bronson. Fantastic, heart warming movie.

  6. Have not finished wordle yet. I have one guess to go and no clue what the word is so out it aside

    1. I fortunate today in that the first word I tried had the correct first letter. I got it in three.

    2. Ok, you guys have gotten me playing. 2 days in a row now. Got today’s on the 5th try. I like it 🙂

      1. It’s interesting, but nothing makes me feel more stupid than that game!!! And I am not Stupid!!!
My brain just sees jumbled letters and has a difficult time
putting them together. I also keep experimenting with starting words. Some are oh so much better than others.

        1. I feel the same way, experimenting with different starting words. What have I used on previous guesses and not to use it again. A challenge for sure 🙂

          1. Yesterday, I thought I would get smart and start with a word with 3 vowels, HOUSE. Didn’t work too well except it let me know the word contained U.
I saw somewhere that a decent starting word is CRAFT.
I don’t know why as only 1 vowel? But it helped a few times.

I’ll keep trying. I can’t do too much worse.

It’s good for the brain, I think. 🙂

Good that you are playing along. 🙂

            1. FWIW, I also found this

The best starting words for Wordle balance vowel and consonant frequency while also aiming to cover common letters. Popular choices include “CRANE,” “SLATE,” “TRACE,” and “STARE” as they contain commonly used vowels and consonants. “ADIEU” is also a frequently recommended starting word due to its high vowel content.
              Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

              Vowel Coverage:
              .

Words like “ADIEU,” “AUDIO,” and “ABOUT” maximize vowel exposure, which can be helpful in quickly identifying vowels in the solution.
              Common Consonants:
              .
Words like “CRANE,” “SLATE,” and “TRACE” incorporate commonly used consonants like “C”, “R”, “A”, “T”, “E”, and “S” which can help narrow down the possibilities.
              Word Frequency:

                1. I love that you are playing, Tom.

And Yikes. That is a confusing video but fun to watch

I think I’ve said that I cover all vowels plus Y in my first two words. And I make sure no two consonants repeat.

        2. If you wordlers want an extra challenge you can try squareword (squareword.org) its wordle but it’s a 5×5 grid. So the words have to work up and down. (You guess the across words in any order but use the down words to help you)

          1. I’ve played that. Or maybe not. I’m thinking of letter boxed. That is my second favorite but I don’t play daily.

            Is square word nyt?

  7. Thanks, TK.

It’s the dp that kind of deadens me. Outdoors in summer, I am like a zombie. Out of it, groggy, and sort of constantly ill.

    1. Yup, the humidity really does a job on some, my wife especially.
I usually can handle it, but not as well with each passing year.

  8. Thanks TK. Watched Jaws again last night outside on a very foggy night on the coast. I recall that movie coming out when I was five and I never feared the ocean or sharks but instead fell more in live with living by a beach.

    1. We first saw that as a family (wife and I and daughter who was 3 at the time) at the Wellfleet drive in and were in the water the next day. That was a hoot.

  9. Sclarke,

    Thank you for that video.
Absolutely fascinating. An awful lot to digest there.
Reminds me of the work I used to do to maximize my winnings
at Black Jack with card counting. I wrote a complete black Jack simulator with various rules and number of decks and # decks dealt as parameters along with a shuffle algorithm.

This video had almost inspired me to write my own Wordle program, but there are so many pieces to it and so much coding, I have enough of that to to with my current part time job. So, I think I will pass on it. But who knows….

But thanks again! LOVED the video!!!!

  10. Hi all! Survived a fill-in work shift today. Ironically I didn’t have to shop for mom because she’s in the hospital, so my routine being out of the ordinary didn’t much matter.

Mom update: Treatment for fluid around heart ongoing. Setbacks today – a UTI (not uncommon for someone in her situation at her age) but they also found a blood clot in her lung. Thankfully it’s being aggressively treated. She’s on steroids and a powerful blood thinner (as well as antibiotics for the UTI), plus all her regular meds. She’s in good hands, and the visit / rehab will likely be a longer haul than we originally thought – but again I’m not really surprised, I knew some of the type of thing was possible.

Weather ideas. No changes except I got a little nervous when I saw the Euro having slowed the cool pool down, lasting it longer into Friday July 4. I indicated a slightly slower trend on this morning’s discussion, and that run slowed it by a few hours more. This doesn’t immediately have major implications on the holiday forecast. I still think the system will exit relatively early but after the chance of a shower or t-storm early in the day. Will continue to monitor this…

    1. Sorry to hear about Mom’s set back. May she recover quickly and be out of there!

      1. A blood clot in her lung sounds scary to me. Hope she recovers soon. Good that her medical team is on top of it.

    2. So sorry to hear your mom’s setbacks. A UTI is never easy, especially when older. And the blood clot ….thank heavens you took your mom to the hospital when you did. You are a very special son.

  11. We have a 90 at Norwood, meanwhile Logan has dropped off to a mere 70!!

79 here in JP after previously reaching 85. 🙂

  12. Red Sox ONE game winning streak is snapped! 😉

I give up on this 2025 team. I don’t care how many more games are left. 🙁

Hopefully they will be BUYERS come trade deadline. It’s probably too late anyway.

    1. The team has its problems but they are moving in the direction of bringing up young talent. Roman Anthony is one of them. The Portland Sea Dogs have a couple of other very hot prospects. They have veterans too.

There is a long way to go this season. They have enough talent to get there just a little more consistency.

    2. I mean, they’re not THAT bad. They’re not great. But they are literally just below wildcard with a ton of games to go.

Why would you possibly turn your back on them now?

When people say these things I tell them they are not allowed to watch any further games. 😉

    1. Still haven’t seen it. 🙂

Apparently still not in a rush to either haha!

  13. Visited mom … she’s been put on some breathing aid so she can be a bit stronger. Nothing else new to report.

      1. I like that better. Made a really good shrimp, butter, garlic dinner but really would like to open Window

        78 / 67 now so getting there

  14. I played nyt letter boxed tonight. The challenge is to use all letters to make words. Tonight it was In four words. I did get four but there is no way to show the word without givinb away the answers.

    https://ibb.co/Rp2GmByp

    1. I’ve found that Letter Boxed accepts some really unusual words. After I finish playing, I often have to look up the definition of some of the words that I used!

  15. Sniper fire in coeur d’alene ID. We had a lovely boat trip up the snake from Spokane WA to Coeur d’alene In the 90s when we visited Mac’s sister in Spokane.

I think the report is fire fighters were fired on when they responded to a fire. Reports are sketchy so I may be wrong

  16. Just a horrible situation and hopefully no one else responding to that shooting loses their life.

  17. TK, your Mom is in my thoughts. She’s tough. Resilience helps. Wishing her well.

  18. I’ve watched a lot of soccer over the years, but today’s 2 shootouts in the 2 Gold Cup quarter final games were right up with some of the best and most dramatic I’ve seen. One of the games itself, US v. Costa Rica, was really good in regulation time, too.

International soccer, whether between national squads or European top clubs, like the Champions League, is really good.
