Sunday August 3 2025 Forecast (8:12AM)

DAYS 1-5 (AUGUST 3-7)

Easy Sunday update today – basically no changes in yesterday’s update, save for one minor tweak for midweek. High pressure remains dominant through this period, with one frontal boundary to watch sinking down from the north Wednesday. The only change would be to introduce the chance for an inland pop-up shower or storm chance that day favoring southwestern NH and north central MA. Otherwise it’s fair weather, humidity that remains low for a couple days then gradual increases to moderate, and a slow warming trend through Tuesday, a small cool-down Wednesday, and small warm-up Thursday, with several days cooler at the coast. Additionally, you’ll notice a hazy look to the sky at times the next several days as additional areas of high altitude smoke move through the sky from Canada’s fires.

TODAY: Sunny. Highs 77-84. Dew point sub-60. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with weaker coastal sea breezes, may shift to W by late-day.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Patchy fog. Lows 60-67. Dew point nearing 60. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 80-87. Dew point near 60. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Patchy fog. Lows 61-68. Dew point near 60. Wind W under 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 81-88, except cooler South Coast. Dew point near 60. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 62-69. Dew point near 60. Wind W up to 10 MPH shifting to N.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs 76-83, coolest coastal areas. Dew point near 60. Wind N shifting to E up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 61-68. Dew point near 60. Wind E to variable up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 80-87, cooler some coastal areas. Dew point near 60. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 8-12)

High pressure shifts into the western Atlantic and a more southerly air flow gradually develops. Fair weather is likely the first couple days of this period, before there is a slightly better opportunity for some showers to pop up. Humidity gradually increases, but no major heat is expected.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 13-17)

Overall pattern features high pressure off the East coast, promoting warmer, more humid weather with a slightly increased chance of showers and thunderstorms with more moisture moving up from the south, potentially enhanced by any disturbances moving through from the west.

    1. The air is a little ahead of its time the last few mornings – has the more September feel. But our warm summer feeling mornings are far from done for this season. 🙂

  1. Today’s wordle in 5
Had last 4 letters correct in 3.
Poor choice of word on 4th guess, thus solved in 5.

    1. Yesterday my brother and I returned the medical-related equipment for cleaning and re-donation for others in need of it. There’s a lot to go through in the weeks ahead, but kind of taking it slow and easy during August just to decompress from everything and kind of make a plan of how to proceed. Certain things will need to be done in a particular order, and will take several months (into next year). In the shorter term, all we’re really dealing with are perishables for food – she didn’t have much since she’d been away from home for a month, but my mom (and dad) were big believers in wasting as little as possible, so we’ll use whatever we can. So those time-sensitive things come now, then a slower and methodical approach to all the rest of it. But after this week, other than the “have to’s”, it’s time to breathe for a little bit.

      1. That is an excellent plan. Taking your time and cherishing the memories of your mom is special.

    1. Go Sox! I believe SAK is at this game.

They’ve been playing some good baseball after many people have written them off (which I still do not understand in the least). 🙂

      1. I do not always like the Sox management but they did say they were going to go forward by building up some fresh young players and that piece is working well! Roman Anthony has been fabulous.

The 2 biggest needs today are 1) another good starter and 2) cleaning up the errors … they are either 1st or 2nd with most errors in the MLB.

        1. I agree with the needs. It’s hard to sustain a solid record if you make too many errors, eventually you can’t get away with them and they start costing games you’d have had otherwise. Another good starter definitely a need as well.

      2. That is awesome. I know they have had some rocky years after the break. But I have not followed them for a while so that may be in the past.

      3. I was at the game — a great day for it. Giolito didn’t get rattled after allowing the home run and went eight full innings.

What especially stood out to me was the excellent defense, including multiple stellar plays from Bregman. 🙂

    1. There is really such a place as Grantchester. Great.
My wife and I are and have been great fans of Grantchester since the beginning.

I wonder how many great shows like this we’ll get to see with the CUTS to PBS?????

  2. Red Sox final 6-1. 🙂

Local radio talk show hosts still counting them out in October. What more can they be convinced?

    1. Well, the playoffs are a different animal. We’ll see. They still need to try to be consistent as possible, not getting into any long slumps.

If they can stay just above .500 from here on, they’ll get in, and then we’ll just “see how it goes”.

    2. As stated above, the young newer players have made a difference. Hopefully that will continue along with some of the veterans playing better. Too many team errors still but we will see.

      1. I still think they needed that solid #2 pitcher. We’ll see how they do without that. They may make the playoffs, but don’t expect them to advance without that #2.

  3. June 12: Sox trail Yankees by 9 1/2 games for wildcard. They’re done. Season over. Counted out, literally 2 months into the season.

    ……………..right.

  4. JP Dave, Grantchester is a hamlet of 500 south of Cambridge. I walked there through the meadows and farmland. About 4 miles from where I am staying. It rained a bit, but not enough to dissuade me from going. I recognized some of the houses and establishments from the show. Had a pint and chips (fries) before walking back to Christ’s College.

Cambridge is even nicer than Oxford. That’s hard to do. The medieval churches are stunning. Medieval architecture is my thing. SO much of it in England.

The back allys and passages are magnificent.

I could stay here forever. I love this place and country. I knew this back in 1984 and 85 when I lived and studied in Oxford. I felt SO at home here then as I do now. Never had that feeling in The Netherlands or U.S. It’s weird. Can’t explain it.

  5. The Red Sox need to get out of the habit of allowing the opposing team to score first, even if it’s just ONE run and today’s game was no exception.

I imagine it gives the opposing team a brief psychological edge, if nothing else.

  6. TK – When I go this blog, the yellow background on my iPhone takes up 3/4 of my screen and I now have to physically expand the screen of the comments section in order to read or to post.

This did not happen earlier this afternoon or anytime before. Can you/WordPress fix this?

It can’t be my iPhone can it?

    1. Nope. It’s not me. I turned it off then back on.

Everything else is normal except WHW.

      1. It is not me either. I have made no changes. If it’s something WordPress did, it’s beyond my control.

  7. Thanks, TK. Enjoyed my birthday today. Beautiful weather; some friends over. Then a chocolate birthday cake and later pizza for dinner. Also watched the movie Tornadoes. At first my hushand and me compared it to the original Tornado movie and thought the original was better. But evenually I can say the movie wasn’t bad.

    1. Awwww I’m sorry I missed your birthday. Happy birthday, rainshine. I’m so happy you had a special day.

  8. I though it was be in yellow stripe. I think it has something to do with a private conversation because I keep getting notifications.

  9. Wow. Blog seems back to normal….???

Does anyone watch the little league World Series? The regionals start today. I’m watching FL and SC now

  10. I do watch the Little League World Series. I played little league baseball for three years when I was a kid. Rooting for the Fairfield CT to make the Little League World Series in Williamsport. The last team from CT to win the Little League World Series was Trumbull CT back in 1989.

    1. Awesome. That is very exciting.

I’ll root for them too. Do you know when they play. All automatically record in my dvr. So I will watch for it. I have to find a list of games/teams.

      1. At least it’s not just me. I only have iPhone. I stopped using a computer years ago.

        1. Hmm. Wonder if it’s iPhone related. Although you’d think my Apple iPad might have same issue and it doesn’t

  11. No format issues with laptop.
No format issues with SmartPhone (no iPhone).

Not sure what’s up. But there are no discernible issues on my end and according to my techie. And other than changing some colors, which I do virtually every day, there have been no changes made to the format / layout at all.

      1. Yes.

Still not sure what’s up with that. But not coming from this end as far as we can tell.
