Sunday September 7 2025 Forecast (9:35AM)

DAYS 1-5 (SEPTEMBER 7-11)

The cold front that moved in with its thunderstorms late yesterday for most of the region has paused to allow a wave of low pressure to deliver us some beneficial rainfall in the region today. Cape Cod, which missed out on the storms, is just getting into the rain this morning, which will show an end trend from west to east as we reach midday and early afternoon (except later afternoon Cape Cod), and a clearing trend will follow that, with areas mainly west of Boston potentially seeing the sun before is sets this evening. While today is much cooler than yesterday, it’s still relatively humid with the ongoing rainfall, but much drier air will flow into the region tonight. High pressure will dominate with pleasant, dry weather Monday-Tuesday. Still watching that offshore low to throw clouds into the region Wednesday, but still at this point I expect the rain from it to stay off the coast. Thursday, another high builds in with more dry weather and sunshine.

TODAY: Overcast with rain and areas of fog through midday, except arriving on Cape Cod this morning, then ending from west to east midday / early afternoon except lingering Cape Cod until later afternoon. Thinning / breaking clouds from the west late day with sun possible I-95 belt west before sunset. Highs 65-72. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Clearing. Lows 48-55. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 67-74. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 45-52. Wind NW under 10 MPH.,

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 67-74. Wind N to NE up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 48-55. Wind NE to E under 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Highs 66-73. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 46-53. Wind N up to 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

DAYS 6-10 (SEPTEMBER 12-16)

High pressure dominates the weather with dry conditions expected. Temperatures near to below normal.

DAYS 11-15 (SEPTEMBER 17-21)

Continued indications for a dry overall pattern with temperatures near to below normal in the final days of astronomical summer.

  1. Tailgating plans for today scrapped.

Also, today ends the shortest shorts-season in quite some time. Have to wear pants today for the 1st time since June 15.

Hopefully most of the game is dry, but I’m not counting on it. Also, hopefully the Pats win.

  2. Thank you TK.

Severe weather yesterday caused damage but good news is I haven’t heard about any injuries / fatalities.

Today’s weather story is about the Patriots game.

    1. I was very pleased to see that they lost. I don’t really ever root for them. ๐Ÿ™‚ It has to be a very rare set-up for me to do it. I appreciate the talent on the team, but that doesn’t mean I want them to win most of the time .. haha.

      1. Iโ€™m not sure if Iโ€™ve ever wanted a team to lose. Maybe thatโ€™s the same as wanting a team to win??

  3. Question. Are there tornado sirens anywhere in our area? I know golf courses have lightning sirens but an individual in Framingham asked if they had a siren and it had me wondering. Iโ€™m not sure how that would even work.

  4. I was in Boston yesterday and missed all the action!

That tornado was about a mile from my house as the crow flies.

      1. I reread my post and itโ€™s not clear. By you got it, I meant you are in a groove. And never gave up. Very impressive

  5. Disturbance in the tropics is gone.

Development not expected in the Atlantic during the next 7 days (probably longer).

  6. A little word on today’s rainfall…

For short-term and even somewhat medium-term, it’s beneficial!

For long-term, it’s not really beneficial, and I’ll explain why. You need several events like this, not separated by long stretches of dry weather. Unfortunately, we have a lot of dry weather ahead again, so the benefit from this event will not be maximized because it won’t be sustained by continued rain events. You need “regular rains” to really erase abnormally dry and especially drought conditions. Take it from a meteorologist who specialized in agricultural forecasting for a long, long time. This does in no way whatsoever take us completely out of the woods, it just slows down the issue (for now). We’ll see what the pattern does going into autumn. But I can also tell you that it doesn’t look that wet to me going into autumn either, so…

      1. I love weather like today’s. I always kick the butt of my to-do list better when the weather is like this outside. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        1. My to do list after church is to binge some shows in between making shepherds pie to enjoy later while I binge some more.

  7. Social media … a boon and a bane, depending on its use.

It’s totally destroyed real news about the total lunar eclipse tonight. I know so many people hoping the sky clears so they can “see the blood moon” (total lunar eclipse), which, by the way, is not visible anywhere in North or South America. It’s visible on the other side of our planet, yet these out of control posts keeping hyping up an event for this area that is NOT VISIBLE.

The next total lunar eclipse visible here is in the early morning hours of March 3 2026.

  8. Three for me on Wordle.

I’m very glad that you’re on a roll JPD! Good for you hanging in there.

    1. Thanks for the kind words. I still don’t understand the funk I was in. Very strange. But now I have gotten the word 11 straight days. We’ll see how it goes moving forward. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. As of 9/1, the Quabbin Reservoir level is at 357 billion gallons which is about 87% of capacity. That is not terribly bad at all, especially for a reservoir that fluctuates a lot. However, the Quabbin watershed saw only about 2 1/3 inches of rain in August which is not great. I think the Wachusett Reservoir watershed may have only seen 1 inch for the month.

The current rain helps though the effects are not always immediate. There can be a lag. The surface rainwater from the watershed can reach the reservoir in hours. Deep underground water take a millenia to get there.

Sometimes I wish I knew and understood more about hydrology.

  10. The game is 15-20 minutes away and Iโ€™m a wreck!

Meanwhile the Pats and Belichick are being babyish!

    1. I am a pats fan. This version of the team saddens me. I expect it from BB. Donโ€™t know what the team is doing but am surprised by that

  11. All over social media, “fans” have already judged the Pats entire season on the opening drive of the game. Hilarious.

    1. Block nonsense folks. I enjoy not seeing nonsense on SM.

Me..Iโ€™m struggling with the QB wearing number 10

      1. I’ve gotten into the “snooze for 30 days” a LOT recently. ๐Ÿ™‚

Politics is the most common trigger of this, and things such as I noted above are also fairly common to trigger it.

I like the 30-day snooze because at least I get to see if the person changed at all, and then I can decide again. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        1. I do that for some. Any lack of respect and I block. I have blocked entire groups if they promote or are dominated by nonsense. Life is far too messed up to bring it to myself.

Iโ€™m quite active politically (itโ€™s in my dna) but keep nearly all on a political page and not on mine. But my guess is most know this. ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. And as you know I have no issue with politically active folks, and I love it when such pages are used for the topic.

I’m not just a politics guy in terms of discussion, so I tend to not read much out there on the net. I do my think myself and go cast my votes when the time comes. My part in the process. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. what I see with the Patriots, If the front gets pressure, the secondary can do well, but if the front doesn’t get pressure, the secondary seems to struggle a bit. Our running game should be better than its going at the moment.

  13. boneheaded stupid mistakes in the second half and inconsistency continues. Shameful. They also could have used Peppers in this game.

      1. I am not staying quiet, I will call bad football when I see it. Until they start playing smart and clean they will not be winning. they don’t have the depth or talent to be making mistakes. Next week against the Dolphins they need to look good or its going to be a long season.

    1. Letโ€™s see how they rebound next week in Miami , that will be the big test . To early for judging them week 1 win or loose .

  14. JimmyJames. Iโ€™m not sure if youโ€™ll see this. Iโ€™ll repeat earlier tomorrow.

Have you seen Americaโ€™s Team? I heard good reviews even if not a Cowboys fan.

  15. Vicki I have not seen America’s team.
I have also heard good things about it. When I started watching football in the early 90s I became a Cowboys fan with the winning they were doing. 33 years later I am still a Dallas Cowboys fan.

    1. I love this. A true fan.

Mac Davis was my all time favorite singer. I havd enjoyed the cowboys since he starred in North Dallas Forty.

I plan to watch the series
