Sunday Morning Update

11:22AM

Upper level disturbance produces more clouds and a remote shower threat today but still not a bad day! (For my computer-model-following readers, this disturbance was seen several days in advance by the European Model and eventually picked up by the GFS. The NAM showed it in the short range. Again though, a win for the Euro, seeing it first.)

Labor Day looks great!

Moisture spreads into the region in advance of a frontal system Tuesday. Yes some of this moisture was once Isaac but one wouldn’t know it was the remains of a hurricane as it will just produce typical showers and possible thunderstorms, though some may be heavy.

Going to reduce the shower threat a little for Wednesday as we will be between the first slug of moisture and another cold front to the west. But it may turn out quite warm and muggy.

Shower and thunderstorm threat Thursday with a cold front, but the magnitude of this threat I am not sure of yet…

Friday and next weekend look just fine at this stage!

Tropical Storm Leslie, soon to be a hurricane, remains over water for the next few days. Some of the predicted forecast tracks take it toward Bermuda and this area should monitor the storm. I still feel the center stays east of Bermuda, though a side-swiping may take place. Too early to really be certain of this. The East Coast of the US will likely see large ocean swells from the hurricane by next weekend. Something to keep in mind if you have plans to make a late season visit to a beach.

  1. Thanks TK! How much rain are you thinking for Tuesday and Wednesday?

Vicki, the dog is a mix of a pug and a beagle. Her name is Charlotte.

    1. Due to the tropical nature of the airmass, the Tue-Thu period could see anywhere from a few tenths of an inch to a few inches in any given location. It’s impossible to pinpoint right now. Though the heavier amounts would likely be confined to smaller areas.

        1. We have gotten new puppies three times in the near 34 years we’ve been married. I still remember the excited feeling. I can imagine having the arrival delayed is difficult

  2. Looks like the NAO is the most positive today than it has been in several months. The forecast looks like it is going down from here though.

  3. Daughter said it poured in Uxbridge just before 5:00. I wonder if it moved over your way Charlie. I didn’t check the radar to see direction it was traveling

    1. Husband as usual is watching PGA tournament in norton on DVR so is behind. They just showed the cell moving in so suspect north and Charlie got something. At least I think you are in the same area North ??

      1. Yes, we did get it just after 5. Vert dark clouds and a very heavy downpour, but it moved brought quickly. My wife dragged me out for a 4 mile walk after it passed by!

        1. Oh ugh. 4 miles. That being said good for her. I need someone to drag me out

I saw the vertical clouds on TV as they approached the area. Very cool

          1. Yes. She has been doing it every day on her own for several weeks now. I told her tonight that this will not be an every day thing for me :).

            1. My daughter is sleeping at a friend’s house tonight so my wife said we are going out for another walk bright and early tomorrow:(.

    1. Macs and my first date was there to see Mac Davis who I thought was the cats meow and a little known woman opening for him – Dolly Parton :). It was 7-7-77. It’s a very fun place. Have fun coastal

      1. That’s great Vicki! My first time here, this place is great! I’ll make sure to write your names on a bench here! 🙂

          1. Very neat plac but it can get very hot in there on a summer night. Tonight is a perfect night to se a show. Have fun Coastal :).

  4. Barry on BZ tonight at 6:30:

    1) Seemed unwilling to tackle rain amounts, but said it should start Tues late afternoon and heaviest rainfall will be Tues nite.

    2) Mentioned that next week “might” be a “surfer’s paradise” due to Leslie. He said he would comment on this further at 11pm tonight.

    1. Thanks longshot. Would have loved to see a big surf while at the beach but just can’t complain what we had. May take a ride to the shore though 🙂

  5. I’m really enjoying these crisp mornings 59.7 degrees, usually I wake up at 6am but probably will sleep till 8 maybe 9, looks like lots of rain for Tue night through to Thu, alot of us see over an inch, and some will get more than that, a good soaker is on the way 🙂
