DAYS 1-5 (MAY 26-30)
Like last week, it’s Tuesday and Wednesday that win the warm award for the week – another summer preview as we get closer to the start of the meteorological version of the season. High pressure to our south pumps warmer air into the region today into Wednesday before a cold front cuts that off later Wednesday. The front will have limited moisture to work with so widespread showers and storms are not likely – just isolated to scattered activity late Wednesday, otherwise it’s dry weather for these two days. Thursday’s weather is cooler and there can be a pop up shower with an upper low in the vicinity. A stronger upper low and associated surface disturbance will drop southeastward out of Canada in the eastern trough position of an evolving omega block (high pressure middle of US, low pressure western US). This feature will bring us some wet weather later Friday into early Saturday, based on current timing. Details of this system still have to be worked out and will be done so over the next few blog updates!
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 67-74 South Coast / Cape Cod, 75-82 elsewhere. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog low elevations. Lows 54-61. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of a late-day shower or thunderstorm, favoring areas north of I-90. Highs 70-77 South Coast, 78-85 elsewhere. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. An evening shower possible south of I-90. Lows 52-59. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. A pop-up shower possible. Highs 63-70. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. A shower possible. Lows 51-58. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Lots of clouds. Shower chances increase. Highs 61-68. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Showers likely. Chance of a thunderstorm. Lows 50-57. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with morning showers. Partly cloudy afternoon. Highs 62-69. Wind variable to N 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (MAY 31 – JUNE 4)
Upper low shifts east far enough for a fair weather finish to May. General pattern to start June keeps New England under the eastern upper low member of an omega block. Pattern is on the cooler side of average with a couple shower chances.
DAYS 11-15 (JUNE 5-9)
Indications are for cooler than average but also mostly dry with limited shower chances during this period as the omega block gradually weakens.
Good morning and thank you TK

Thanks, TK.
As I’ve mentioned previously, the record-breaking heat in England (especially in the south of the region) and parts of France is quite impressive.
While the heatwave is unusual for several reasons, including the time of year, when all is said and done the month of May will be remembered not only for the extreme heat (by English standards) but also the long stretch of cool weather that preceded it. Regarding the heat, relief is on the way by the weekend in the form of normal temperatures.
So, both the Northeast and Northwestern Europe have been experiencing a bit of a rollercoaster. THE big difference is the gradual nature of their rollercoaster, both on the way up and the way down, and our MUCH faster ascent followed by a considerably quicker descent.
London and Paris are both currently reporting 88F.
I did see on the news, the heat is making the clay courts in the French Open play a little quicker than usual.
We have reached 70 already here.
Thank you,TK. Up to 60 from a 50 low. 59 DP

Tom, no doubt it’s hot this week in Paris and London. And that is impacting a lot of things, including the famous Roland Garros clay courts.
I think that the London heat is more impressive. Paris experiences heat more often than London. And I can’t recall there ever being a sustained period of heat – above 86F – in London in May.
Indeed !
Jumping in the 4 car!
Fantastic!!
Excellent
Tom, thanks for sharing the 500mb ridge over Western Europe. Yesterday, I posted satellite imagery. You could see areas of low pressure hitting a wall as they approached Ireland. One then spun north, east of Iceland.
Thank you for bringing it to our attention ! I love following the weather anywhere on the planet.
Very sad news this morning. Daughter just called and they had to put granddaughters horse, Hope, down this morning from colic. They were at the barn all night so will reschedule appt at Childrens. My daughter said they just don’t know what they’ll do without her in their lives.
