Monday July 6 2026 Forecast (7:27AM)

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 6-10)

This week starts with complex set-up that brings the chance for a wide-ranging rainfall event. The frontal boundary that went by over the weekend, ending our hot spell, sits just to our south. A couple of low pressure areas will move eastward along it today into Tuesday, the first of the two producing most of the rain south of I-90 but also bringing the potential for some narrow bands of more intense rainfall, and the second one bring a more general rain / drizzle producer across more of the region tonight into Tuesday. Precipitation amounts in a general sense will be lightest north of I-90 and heaviest from I-90 southward. There can be a few limited areas that see in excess of 3 inches, but a 1 to 3 inch rainfall is expected in those southern areas in general, with up to around 1 inch to the north. As the second low consolidates and intensifies a little through Tuesday, we’ll see enhanced wind near the South Coast, but you’ll notice it a bit breezy elsewhere in the region too. Finally this system moves away by early Wednesday with any lingering showers / drizzle tapering off and ending from west to east. Wednesday looks like a nice day as high pressure builds in with the return of sunshine and a nice warm-up, but fairly low humidity. This continues Thursday with modest humidity but a little dash of heat with some areas peaking around 90. This is not a return to the high heat of last week, and will also be short-lived, as a cold front moves in on Friday bringing lots of clouds, capping the heat, but spiking the humidity along with a shower and thunderstorm threat.

TODAY: Cloudy. Rain, some heavy at times, mainly south of I-90, with a chance of a few periods of rain to the north. Highs 68-75. Dew point rises to 60+. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Rain, heavy at times evening South Coast to I-90, increasing rain chances to the north. Lows 60-67. Dew point 60+. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Cloudy. Periodic rain with areas of drizzle and fog. Highs 67-74. Dew point in 60s. Wind E to NE 5-15 MPH except 10-20 MPH with higher gusts South Coast / Cape Cod.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Rain / drizzle ends west to east. Areas of fog. Lows 58-65. Dew point around 60. Wind NE to N 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Early clouds southeastern MA, otherwise mostly sunny. Highs 80-87. Dew point under 60. Wind N shifting to W 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Fog patches interior low elevations. Lows 60-67. Dew point near 60. Wind W under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 77-84 South Coast, 85-92 elsewhere. Dew point near 60. Wind W 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 65-72. Dew point 60+. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 78-85. Dew point rises toward 70. Wind SW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts possible.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 11-15)

July 11-12 weekend looks mainly dry other than a possible pop-up shower in southern areas on July 11. Lower humidity / seasonable temperatures expected those days. Humidity and warmth increase early next week with a shower and thunderstorm chance (especially around July 14), before fair weather returns.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 16-20)

Overall pattern fairly seasonable but a little temperature variability with one or two shower / t-storm chances with passing fronts from the west.

  1. Good morning and thank yiu TK

    69 up from 68

    Ocean: 70

    Wordle: 3

House did not cool yesterday so we had to run all 3 ACs.
    Much better today.

No rain here yet as it currently remains to our South.

  2. Wordle was another strange word today.

I had the first letter after guess #1. Took a stab at a word for guess #2 and got nothing except 4 additional letters that we NOT in the word. So for guess #3, I tried to think of every word I could that started with T and had 5 letters. All the words I was coming up with used one of the 8 letters revealed as NOT in the word.
I was racking my brain and then a word popped into my head and so I tried it and there it was! the actual word.

So I lucked out as I didn’t have much to go on.

    1. I only know this word because of the lyrics of a song that I really like. I remember looking it up in one of those quaint cellulose-based dictionaries in 1977. πŸ™‚

      1. I know the word because we watch a ton of British shows and movies. πŸ™‚ And My grand parents mentioned that word many times.

The one with Jay_Z and Usher???

    2. NTY it’s definitely trying to find a word each day that is more odd than the day before.

I got lucky. I had the first three letters after two guesses None of them were in the right place But I managed to put them in the right place on my third word but with the second last letter incorrect. Even then, I thought hard before entering the word. I just didn’t think it was something they would use. Silly me

  3. So far, the rain is staying to our South.

Last evening on CH 10, Sydney Welch was very confusing as to when it would start raining and where. ON one graphic she had rain into Boston by 3AM and on another she had no rain in Boston until 3-5 PM today. Most confusing. My wife said it;s gong to start raining at 3Am and I told her NOPE, Not until 3PM or even later today, so we KEPT the windows open.

  4. Looking at radar trends the rain seems to be getting more and more suppressed to the South. Interesting, indeed. Will continue to monitor.

        1. So, so but is better vs before but she still has some issues , appreciate you asking .

    1. Thanks . Just wrapping up Breakfast at the mug Tom , I’d like to meet you here sometime . I hope things have improved for you .

  5. NWS has expanded the flood watch a bit to include all of SE MA.

    https://www.weather.gov/box/

IF the HRRR verifies then the watch would have to be expanded up to the MA PIke or even a bit North of it. OR the watch will be skipped and it will go straight to a warning. Will be monitoring that.
