High pressure provides great mid summer weather from today through this coming weekend with plenty of sunshine each day, low humidity, and generally light winds including coastal sea breezes, and temperatures that run near to slightly below normal. Things change as we get into the beginning of next week when a trough approaches from the west. While Monday’s daylight hours look generally dry, we’ll see increasing clouds ahead of a warm front extending from low pressure moving out of the Midwest. A larger scale trough will be moving into the Great Lakes and Northeast later Monday through Tuesday, and the aforementioned low will bring increased shower and thunderstorm chances Monday night and Tuesday.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 78-85, coolest coast. Dew point in 50s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 56-63. Dew point near 50. Wind variable under 10 MPH.

Timing of a trough moving through the region keeps shower chances into the first part of July 29 before drier weather returns. Another shower or thunderstorm chance comes along in the July 30-31 window, otherwise mostly fair weather and generally near normal temperatures are expected as we move from July to August.
DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 3-7)
Fair weather early in the period before shower and thunderstorm chances and higher humidity return. Temperatures near normal.

I stopped switching my starter words for guesses one and two. Sometimes they really help. Sometimes not so much. But switching around didn’t help and often led to the not so much. They’ve served me well for nearly five years since the game was released. But everyone has his individual way of playing. You have had a hot streak of late.
I get it. Today I tried something different and I knew it was a risk, but I did it anyway. I got tired of the standard starting words as they often left me with NOTHING!!!
So, the way I am playing, it is either feast or famine. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Doubt that I will change that. 🙂
Makes sense. Even with the same words, it’s feast or famine. Too many letters to cover all 26 every time. I like to have all vowels and y and then place consonants. Sometimes it works. And again sometimes not so much.
I wonder if there is a proven approach
I love it when the first guess reveals multiple greens and yellows. Then it is possible to get it in 2 and most certainly 3.
I can’t stand it when the 1st guess reveals NOTHING!!!!!

Weather feels like late August like Summer is waning rapidly….
We went to Humarock every July for years. Finally we switched to mid August because it tended not to have the heatwaves. Didn’t always work but more often than not was cooler. This reminds me of that weather. I love love it.
Currently 66/56. Overnight low was 53.
I got Wordle in 5. I had three of the five letters correct on the third guess.

After 2 guesses, I had the correct letter in the 1st spot and another consonant in the wrong spot.
But, I only had 1 vowel left to use in my 3rd guess and took a guess with what would work with my misplaced consonant and got lucky with the 3rd guess.

For me, yesterday was a 9 out of 10.
It was beautiful !!
Today is 10 out of 10. Still very comfortable but the 50s dps feel more like polar, SUMMER air, where yesterday’s 40s DP’s and highs in the upper 70s fealt like late August, early September.
This feels like a comfortable July day.
And yesterday’s thin smoke aloft seems to temporarily have moved off. Very blue skies this morning.
Yesterday at this time, Mt Washington was 39F, its currently 46F. Airmass is just a bit milder today and as I look up, on the western third of the sky, there’s a couple, few decorative, fair weather cumulus clouds, that as soon as they hit the seabreeze, go poof crossing the half way mark
of the sky.

Last 2 August’s have come in below avg temp wise.
August 2024: -0.7F at Logan (had to overcome a very warm/hot first 5 days of the month)
August 2025: -2.1F.
There’s nothing screaming on the CFS weeklies saying August is going to be above or well above avg. in fact, CFS weeklies rather stable with the pattern, in projecting above avg temps on the west coast of North America.
Some of the op runs though suggest maybe bouts of warm/humid weather in the long range, so, we’ll see.
I like the lower than average ….do we get to choose??
The monthly temp anomolies do give some possible, further credence that Logan’s thermometer may be off a degree, as Worcester, Hartford and Providence are running 0.8-1.4F above avg for July, while Logan is sitting at +2.8F.
Of course, on the other hand, Logan is a major airport with a ton more airplanes, buildings and is downwind of a heat island, so, that probably has to be factored in too 🙂
Logan is the DUBEST place to keep records for the city of Boston.

Logan is almost 1.3-1.7F warmer than the other 3 climate stations.
Or should I say, a mixture. Some from the heat islands of Boston and sometimes Logan and maybe the sensor is off .5 – 1F.
