DAYS 1-5 (JULY 25-29)
High pressure brings fair and comfortable weather this weekend along with low humidity and ocean breezes. Sunday’s coastal breeze will be a little cooler than today’s, but still a pleasant day by seaside, or basically anywhere you plan to be. The high starts to depart Monday while a trough moves into the Midwest and Great Lakes, along with a surface low. The warm front extending out from this low will start to increase our cloud cover during Monday, but as with yesterday’s outlook I still expect the daylight hours to remain dry before we watch for the first chances of showers sometime that night ahead of the front. Tuesday and Wednesday will feature more unsettled weather as the trough moves through. The behavior of low pressure will determine more detail and this is something to-be-determined over the next few days. For now, similar to last week, I’m leaning toward a warm frontal passage and showery weather Tuesday, and a cold frontal passage with a shower and thunderstorm chance Wednesday. There is some chance that this time we do see the development of a new low pressure area a little further to the south, which would change the game somewhat. I’m not nearly confident at this point that this will take place, so the forecast wording is generalized for days 4 and 5 at this time and will be refined as the picture becomes clearer. In the mean time, enjoy a stellar weekend!
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 77-84, coolest coast. Dew point in 50s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 56-63. Dew point near 50. Wind variable under 10 MPH.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 77-84, coolest coast. Dew point in 50s. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 57-64. Dew point in 50s. Wind variable under 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Increasing clouds. Highs 75-82, coolest coast. Dew point in 50s. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Lows 60-67. Dew point heads for 60. Wind SE up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 77-84. Dew point surpasses 60. Wind SE to SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows 61-68. Dew point 60+. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Variably cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 75-82. Dew point 60+. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (JULY 30 – AUGUST 3)
Additional troughing brings shower and thunderstorm chances for July 30 but it now appears that this will move quickly enough to bring drier weather for the final day of July and the opening day of August before the next trough, a weaker one, returns a shower and thunderstorm chance to our region August 2-3. With lower confidence at the end of the 5-day period, it follows that this outlook is also not the highest confidence one, but just a general idea of how it would be expected to play out.
DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 4-8)
Shower and t-storm chances early and again late period but overall pattern looks mostly rain-free with generally seasonable temperatures.
Thanks Tk
Thank you TK.
At the top of Mount Major looking down at Winniepesaukee.
Nice !
Awesome. What is elevation?
Wonderful. Perfect weather. Enjoy!!
Thanks TK !
Wordle: 6
Another beautiful day of weather.
Stuck after 4 guesses with correct 1st letters. Totally lost and haven’t got a clue. Letter substitution is getting me no where. I’ll bet it is a word I do not know. Will take a break and perhaps it will come to me?????
Did you know the word?
Yes and I’m 99.9% certain you know it.
Yup, but didn’t see it till #6
Me too 🙂
Actually was a good word, but still tough to get. Well done NYTimes.
Great job. Tricky work
Word
Good morning and thank you TK
80 up fromv59
Ocean: 63
Wordle: 6
Should have had it in 5 as my fingers hit the wrong key during letter substitution.
Word never really came to me as I got it via letter substitution. I suppose it should have come to me, but it did not. The way it goes sometimes. Just happy I got it..
Tom may I join you in the caboose?
Welcome !!
Thank you Tom. I’d bring donuts, but my dr. Says NOPE. I have to eliminate ate or severely reduce intake of sweets. No donuts, no ice cream, no cookies. All things I love.
Ice cream is my most favorite food in the world.
I need to drop a lot of weight. Been trying for a few months. Have dropped about 15 pounds. Long way to go.
Congrats and continued good luck.
I could give up donuts and cookies, but ice cream? That would be real difficult. 🙂
I can do it, I think.
Perhaps an occasional DQ, small cup only. No blizzards. Dq is 1/2 the fat of ice cream.
Thanks Tom.
My reported temperature has to be due to reflection. I thought it was early enough. Guess not. Probably more like 72 or so.
I see several nearby units reporting 79 or 80. Must suffer from the same problem I do. There is another one about a mile away reading 72. That one must be shielded better. Seems more accurate.
By about 1030 my sensor should be back to normal.
Virtually every thermometer that does not have a full instrument shelter around its thermometer sensor is going to be vulnerable to it.
And nearly every home weather station calculates dew points too high (not all, but almost all).
Example: Here, 72 at 10 a.m., 79 at 10:45 a.m.. Nope, it did not go up 7 degrees. It got a solar reflection on the sensor. That temp will be discounted. It’ll probably read 73 momentarily.
Of course a problem like this will not be at the same time every day when the sun is shining. It will shift with the season / sun angle.
Anther example (dew point): Calibrated sensors around the region range from 50 to 57 (highest over the islands just off Cape Cod). Nobody should be reading over 55 anywhere else as of 11 a.m., however a lot of devices will give you an erroneously high reading by 2 to 5 degrees. Sometimes that will smooth out as the day goes on. Sometimes not.
I’m at 78 with dp 53
At this point I believe that to be pretty accurate.
It is 79 at Norwood and Bedford.
The reflection issue here seems to be aroun 830 to 1030 or so and that period shrinks as the season rolls from Summer to Autumn.
Sounds right.
To the best of my knowledge, the dew point for muy equipment is a calculated value based on the temperature and relative humidity. If either or both of the temp and RH sensors are off, then the dew point will be off.
I have never been able to pin down which stations fail more with DP vs. others. Yours seem pretty close but again I don’t scrutinize everything I see daily.
I just try to get a general idea.
I have been paying more attention to the NWS #’s to try to see what’s going off and what’s reasonable. The current ASOS equipment may as well have come from Dollar Tree.
I love that last line!!!!!
Nice getting a tricky word
Crowd on the 6 car today…. This was like pulling teeth and I still had 2 options for last guess, got lucky.
WELCOME!!! I wonder what the lowest score will be today?
I’m guessing 4, but watch someone get it in 2 or 3. We shall see later on.
I’ve seen a 4 so far
Well done. It’s a doozer.
Welcome !
Thank you, TK. 72/58 with a lovely sleeping low of 51.
Wordle 5.
Permission to join the 6 car however. Have not had donuts in years.
The wordles I’m seeing mostly look like mine.
First three letters with multiple missed for last two
nice 5.
I had 2 letters out of position after guess 1
Then I made what I thought were excellent guesses for 2 and 3, but Wordle said NOPE. Some letter substitution gave me a word I did not know, but again was NOT the word. Letter substitution
gave me another unknown word for 5 and finally got it on 6.
Excellent
Very good, Vicki !
Well done Vicki!
Thank you both.
I’m joining the caboose crowd as well with 6.
Good getting it. Welcome to the train
Welcome!!! I think we all pretty much had the same issues.
Thanks TK
Thank you TK!
Wordle: 4 and it was a very lucky guess that I was certain would be wrong. Glad everyone is onboard!
And we have a WINNER!!! Excellent!!!!
Superb Sue !
Excellent!!
Exceptional 4

Not because of this, in general, blah to this pattern.
I’m certainly not looking for a 594 dm (500 mb ridge), mid 90s and oppressive humidity.
But this kind of troffy, 573-579 dm heights in the heart of summer, too far the other way.
Something like zonal or slight ridging, heights 582-585 dm and highs of 84-88F is what I want.
But not in the cards right now.
Thanks, TK.
Thanks, TK!
77.5/51!!!!!!
What a luscious day!!!!
Happy (Half) Christmas Day!
MeTV FM is celebrating Christmas in July by throwing in holiday tunes in its rotation today!!! 🙂
“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Dean Martin was played earlier this morning! 🙂
But but but as a June baby……….
Has the Wordle caboose ever been this crowded?

Hilarious picture!
You made my day with that one!!! Good job!!!!
And no it has not!!!
I seriously cannot love this enough. I’m still laughing.
78/51 here. The best 3 days in succession of the summer!!!!
93° 73° dewpoint here in Sarasota. Yesterday’s dewpoint was up to 78°. Hopefully for the folks in the Woodshill area don’t get any humidity like down here. According to pivotal we probably won’t this summer. I know some people on this blog have a difficult time with those weather conditions.
