  1. Not sure about this but I barely caught the tail end of the BZ forecast tonight and I thought I saw snowflakes on the 7 day. Can anyone confirm?

    1. It’s not out of the question that if I’m wrong about Thursday’s forecast, and the timing of that system IS indeed faster, it could be a cold-air manufacturing setup that could produce snow in parts of SNE.

      1. Hey TK- Try to get some rest tonight I see you like to stay up late. Early game tommorow 1pm. You had a nice one last night. That game reminded me of that Monday night beating the pats put on the jets, the more points the pats scored you wanted more. The bruins could not have picked a better team to beat that bad. Sorry about the sports blog, just nothing to say about the weather right now. Again Tk thank’s for this weather site. I hope you have a nice weekend.

  2. So Barry posted his thoughts on BZ blog and of course one of our friends was right there to chime in. Anyway TK the timing look more like Thursday to me.

          1. He also uses i not I in reference to himself, he does not use complete sentences
words followed by …. spelling is not so good, and he does not use uppercase letters very often. Great site TK!

            Cheerio, Merlin

  3. Mt Washington is -4F….cold airmass for sure. Today’s max sun angle approaches 50 degrees above the horizon at solar noon. Debating a day trip to the Cape for a change of scenery. Cant decide if the sun will help to offset the cold breeze enough to enjoy the playgrounds, bike paths or early season open mini golf…… Have a good day everyone !!

    1. I’m guessing the chill & wind down there will win out over the strong sun by just a little. Not to go negative. I’m sure the sun will be nice!!

I’ll be inside for a good chunk of the day working on inside cleanup projects while it’s still chilly out there.

Have a safe & good time whatever you do today Tom!

  4. GoodMorning everyone- cold start to the day today, but sun is nice and bright again. Have a great Saturday to all. I have a full house of guests coming in 2rs so the rush to finish cleaning is on. I will check back with you guys tonight to check on the weather for next week. Hey Merlin not sure if you saw my question asked to you last night, but are you from Pembroke. You had made some mention on cleaning of the Hrun.

    1. I’m in Hingham and I help out at the Herring Run Clean Up Day in Weymouth John, by the way it’s next Saturday 0800 at Herring Run Park. Thanks for asking.

    1. It may again come down to a matter of timing of when the precip is falling. Without an intense storm, you need that nighttime snowfall to get much of any accumulation at this time of year.

3-29-1984 & 4-6-1982 for example were both daytime events (about a foot & 12-18 inches) that were intense storms with very heavy snow.

I think this one may have to be a Wednesday night event to be of any potential significance, but it may not produce enough precip to do that. Fun to watch, either way!

  5. It is good to see you have so much knowledge Scott. Is it true you are only a Jr. High School-er? I can only see great things for you sir. Keep up the outstanding work.

    1. Thanks!
Yes i am a “high school-er”. A junior in high school to be more specific.
As I’ve said earlier, I plan to get a meteorology degree( preferably Lyndon State college).
Hopefully that does lead me to a good job in the future.

      1. As I had said to you before I am proud of you for how you carry yourself as a young man. I won’t say what I was doing my junior yr in high school. As being new to the blog(December) you have taught me so much. You have a bright future ahead of you, just keep your nose in the book and keep moving forward.

        1. Thanks for the support.

We’ll see how i handle forecasting those thunderstorms later this year, which i’ll be new to.

          1. Speaking of thunderstorms, I hope JimmyJames comes onto this blog. I look forward to his index scale. I personally don’t like thunderstorms but I do like getting a “heads up” on any severe weather. In addition he seems to really know his stuff about weather as well.

  6. I took a walk up the street for a newspaper late this morning and it is very cold, more like January or early February. I wore a sweater under my winter coat, gloves, and hood. The only item I didn’t wear was boots. Too bad we will miss storms before temps moderate…”wasted” cold. Compared to last year we have had opportunities for snow but time is running out, if hasn’t already. According to NWS the Wed.-Fri system is all rain along the coastal plain with snow well into the interior.

    1. For sure JJ. I was just outside for a minute and now I’m glad I didn’t choose to do early-season yardwork with my son. I’m more content working inside the house today, watching the B’s & March Madness (hockey & basketball).

      Welcome to the blog!!

      1. Ditto! Welcome aboard Jimmy. 🙂

Also, my brackets are completely ruined with Ohio State losing to Kentucky. I had OSU winning the whole thing…oh well.

  7. Compare the 00z GFS to the 00z Euro around midweek. Then compare the 12z GFS to both of them. Not even close. This is a clear example of the difficulty the GFS will have with the emerging split flow pattern (northern & southern jets). My advice, put more stock in the Euro during the next 1 to 2 weeks.
