Quick Update!

5.0 inches of snow in Woburn last night & this morning. Happy April Fools Day!

Meanwhile, Sox have just started their season in Texas, under aย partly cloudyย sky with a game time temperature of 90!

Not doing a full forecast update right now as I’m heading out the door, so basically what follows is a copy/paste of the previous forecast, as I don’t see any reason to make big changes right now, and I’m uncertain how things are going to time-out after the weekend anyway. I will re-examine the upcoming weather and post a new forecast by tomorrow morning. Have a great weekend everybody!

  1. Hello from sunny Orlando!!

Unreal how quick you can get away from the snow to perfect weather. About 79 right now, a little breezy!!

    1. Hadi, glad you made it out of Logan OK this morning and that you “just” missed that severe wx yesterday!

      Have a good time! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Jfyi…1-2″ for most of the Boston area (1.5″ Logan) and melting quickly, should be long gone by morning. Should be in the 60s here midweek! ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. We may have a little trouble getting that warm front to bust through here Tuesday. If it doesn’t make it, all bets are off on the 60+.

  2. Hadi,

Tell me you’ve been in the pool already too why don’t you……a little breezy…c’mon man….what’s the windchill!

Lost 1/2 the snow today. From 7 to 3-1/2″ Amazing how much melts this time of year even when it’s cloudy and not particularly mild. 7″ can last all of January in a cold pattern.

  3. Hi All, I was wondering if those of you who have a crystal ball, could look ahead at a couple of dates for me. One is April 8th (driveway being paved), the second date is April 16th (daughters 1st birthday). I know the accuracy at the this long range is not going to be good, but give it a shot.

    Thanks.

    1. Crystal ball says dry for both. Should be just behind a departing shortwave (coming thru around the 6th-7th) on the 8th with anticyclonic flow.

The 16th is based on some strong hints at being on the eastern side of a ridge by mid month.

      1. Great news TK, I hope it holds up. Thanks.

John, here actual birthday is the 18th. The party is on the 16th.

    2. Coastal- My son’s birthday is April 16th. Going to the cape codder for his birthday so he can swim in the wave pool. He will turn 7.

  4. Retrac oh yeah the pools are nice! Vacation sure changes once you have kids:-). At least my in laws are here so we can do a little more. Anyway everyone take care!

Phillip everyone was saying the storms here were nasty, I believe there was a confirmed tornado in the area.

    1. Hadi just got in- I was with someone tonight who just got in from orlando today. That was true on the tonado, well she said it was warnings. You dodged a bullet there. If you were there you and TK would have had some good chats as I believe he once chased them or came close.

  5. Looks like northern Maine is getting hit hard this evening (Presque Isle, Caribou, etc). I’d think it takes a while for their last snowcover to melt.

    1. Tom, I will post a snow map for Maine and all of N.N.E tomorrow…should be quite “colorful” to say the least.

  6. I see the Red Sox lost 9-5 to Texas. Oh well, it’s just the first game, but I just don’t have a good feeling about the pitching at all. It was awful during spring training. I don’t really worry about those games, but I would have liked to have seen a little better. The offfense should be a-ok as long as there aren’t many injuries like last year.

I will post Boston’s final snow stats tomorrow (and put my shovel away for the season). ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. The Bruins are looking OK tonight…..so far.

Last week state officials found radiation in our rainwater. Today they found it in the air. The radiation amounts are extremely low and non-threatening, but I found it interesting that it travelled in excess of 6,500 miles.

  8. Forecast seems on track. Tuesday will be the trick of the week. 50’s or Upper 60’s to 70?

  9. I noticed that Barry has changed his 7-day and it looks awful for Monday…an all-day pouring rain with temps in the mid-40’s, but Tuesday looks great with temps in the 60’s. More rain for Thursday with temps in the 40’s once again. At least the brush fire danger is over for this spring.

  10. Will see if that warm front can make it through early next week because if it does we have a good shot at 60 degree plus temperatures. Then all eyes turn to a cold front coming through late Tuesday with the POSSIBILITY of some shower activity and I would not rule out thunder at this point. I am not seeing any severe storms though like other parts of the country might be dealing with early next week if everything comes together.

  11. Good morning ๐Ÿ™‚ out of all the seasons I dislike spring the most only cause its cool raw rainy with a 60 degree day here and there to tease us that summer is right around the corner, sun angle is like it would be on labor day weekend, we got away with much fanfare from the snow event, alotta work needs to be done today outside, mulching, and planting a new tree in front.

  12. Good Morning All!
TK, What are your thoughts on adding a lawn and garden section to the site? I know there are some knowledgable people here that could teach the rest of us alot. Just a suggestion as you develop this great site further.

    1. coastal I love the idea of a lawn and garden section. I have a black thumb but it doesn’t keep me from trying.

    2. I think it’s a fine idea. I can set up various “pages” in here and I can do one for that. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I would be more than happy to help out with this section. As a starter once everyone has compleated there raking they can put down some lime. Two weeks after that you can begin your 4step program, this is the program that most people use. Now is the time to do some pruning. Also be checking your town papers for a brush pickup. I guess there was a alot of storm damage here in Pembroke{downed small trees} so they will be going around the neighborhoods and picking up. So I have some branches I am going to cut down to take advantage of this. If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to help out as I do this for a living., of coarse if that is ok. I am going back to work on Monday so any questions would be answered at night time.

          1. You are in the landscape trade that is great. I also to correct myself after you put down some lime I had said two weeks after to apply the 1st step. It is always wise to wait till you see the green up again wich will happen in the next 2-4 weeks. April is the mounth for for this step.

    1. I will start off. How do you get rid of Voles? The did a number on my lawn under the deep snow cover this winter. They are always bad when the snow is deep because they are not afraid of predators.

      1. Hey haterain- now would be the best time to get them. There is two mostly common ways to do this. The first would be a poison,
and the second would be setting up a mouse trap. Food for these guys is vegtable gardens, grubs and the favorite earth worms. A vole can varry in size 4 to as much as 8inches length. The colors also vary{ brown-black-gray with small tails} They like to make maze like trails could be a couple inches wide. For a bait if you trap apples or penut-butter, there just like mice. Any hardware store would carry some stuff, ortho, scotts, bayer products for poison sollutions. I am sending you this site to do some homework. http://www.getridofthings.com/get-rid-ofvoles.htm. Again as long as it is ok with TK I will answer any questions.

        1. Go ahead and answer them here for now. It’s fine. I’ll set up another section specifically for this stuff by the end of the weekend so it’s easier to find info or ask questions on that is you want.

        2. John thanks for the info. I am trying the poison, you just never know if you are getting them.

  13. Great in depth blog by Joe Joyce on the BZ blog. It will be interesting how warm we get on Tuesday. It all depends how quickly the cold front passes the area. That same front is could cause a big outbreak of severe weather where. Here in SNE I don’t see severe thunderstorms but there is a chance of thunder on Tuesday so with that the thunderstorm index is at 1 on the 1-4 scale which is MINOR meaning should any thunderstorm activity happen it will fall below severe levels. As always I will keep an eye on it.
