November Rides In On A Roller Coaster

5:27PM

Ups and downs in the temperature department during the first week of the new month with no major precipitation events. After Friday’s wind/shower/warm event, it will remain mild Saturday until a secondary cold front crosses the region Saturday night and throws a batch of colder air over the region for Sunday-Monday. Then we’ll reverse it and moderate toward the middle of next week back to above normal, before cooling again later next week.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England…

TONIGHT: Clouds southeastern MA and RI, partly cloudy to mostly clear to the northwest. Lows upper 40s to lower 50s. Wind SW diminishing to under 10 MPH.

SATURDAY: Clouds linger southeastern MA before departing and a brief episode of rain possible outer Cape Cod and Nantucket. More sun but mixed with clouds at times elsewhere. Highs around 60. Wind SW up to 10 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Clouds move back in from NW to SE. A rain shower in some areas late, may turn to a snow shower around dawn interior areas. Lows around 40. Wind SW 10-20 MPH shifting to NW by dawn.

SUNDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs in the 40s. Wind NW 15-25 MPH and gusty.

MONDAY: Sunny. Low 22. High 44.

    1. There are some significant gusts there. What it doesn’t tell is how often and how sustained. I’m guessing there was not just one rogue gust in each case

    1. That’s the only steak I cook. After trying many cuts that’s the most tender and has the most flavor.

  1. Yesterday was +17F above normal at Logan. I think the most eye-opening thing to me is the lowest temp of the whole day was 60F !!!

May be seeing a few similar type days here and there over the next several weeks, as the warm sectors of storms will be returning.

  2. I won’t mind some mild days to and gets the leaves raked and bagged before the snow starts to fall.
I won’t be surprised if this pattern with brief shots of chilly air followed by a warmup continues into the start of winter.

  3. Looking way ahead, I don’t see any sustained cold at all. A few very brief shots
of colder, but not outrageously cold air, followed by warm ups again. Right now,
November looks to be above average to me. We shall see. 😀

    Still early yet for sure.

  4. From NWS out of Upton, NY. I am not putting much stock in it but it does mention the possibility of snow showers Thursday night and Frieday.
UNCERTAINTY HERE WITH AN OSCILLATING TREND TO
ECMWF SOLUTIONS…WHETHER OR NOT LOW DEVELOPS ALONG THE FRONT. THIS
WILL DETERMINE THE LONGEVITY OF THE PRECIPITATION AS WELL AS
LINGERING PRECIP AS COLD AIR ADVECTION INCREASES GOING INTO FRIDAY.
A SCENARIO WITH LOW DEVELOPING ALONG THE FRONT WILL ENABLE FASTER
COLD AIR ADVECTION AND POTENTIAL FOR SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE
INTERIOR PARTS OF THE REGION FOR LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY
    MORNING.

  5. Nice night out, staying at the renessiance hotel at Patriot Place in preparation of tomorrow’s Patriots/Steeler game, 53 degrees here and clear, few passing clouds
