Ocean Invasion Today, Nice Weekend

7:29AM

An onshore flow from the east will send lots of low clouds from the ocean into southeastern New England today, but an approaching and passing cold front will turn winds around to west by Saturday, with the front bringing only some cloudiness early. The remainder of the weekend which includes Easter Sunday and Patriots Day Monday will be fairly nice as high pressure dominates. Some clouds may start to increase later Monday ahead of the next weather system. This system may impact the region in the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame next week, but does not look too impressive at this time.

Forecast for southeastern New England…

TODAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Highs in the 40s. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30s. Wind light variable.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny morning. Mostly sunny afternoon. Highs around 60. Wind W 10-20 MPH.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows in the 30s. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY – EASTER: Mostly sunny. Highs in the 50s, coolest coast. Wind N to E 5-15 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows in the 30s. Wind light E to SE.

MONDAY – PATRIOTS DAY: Partly cloudy. Highs 50s coast, 60s inland. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Low 44. High 62.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain showers. Low 45. High 54.

  1. Happy birthday JJ and welcome to the 30’s club! It’s not as bad as people will tell you. This year of my 30th has been the best year of my life so far πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

      1. We’ve come a long way…..

And anyone who thinks we here on Earth are ALONE in this universe had better re-think their position. I don’t think
there is much question about that.

        Consider the Drake Equation….

        http://www.seti.org/drakeequation

With today’s modern advances in Astronomy, the number of
stars with planets “appears” to be HIGHER than the estimates
        in the above equation.

This is really thought provoking, mind boggling stuff.

          1. Yes, I don’t think so either. Now that does not
mean that we will know with certainty anytime
            soon.

There is a crap load of literature on UFOs and Alien Abductions etc. etc. out there and
99.9% of the stuff is pure HorseS**T

BUT buried amid all of that crap, there “may” be a shed of truth somewhere. Who is to say that
            we have NOT been visited??

I keep an open mind on this stuff. I have some thoughts, but I generally keep them to myself.

  2. A big change in plans now have us staying in New England this April Break πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ , but has us hitting the Carolina’s and Outer Banks the first 3 weeks of July. So ….. Chilly spring weather and brutally hot summer weather is in the weather experiences to come.

This weather, the last 2 days, is AWFUL ! I have no issue being 15F below normal. Just wish the sun was out, even a little, to combat it. But this gray, cold, barely 40F stuff past mid April is absolutely depressing !!

    1. I couldn’t agree more! It is brutally demoralizing! PATHETICALLY, PUTRID
      DISGUSTING Weather!!!!!

        1. Tom,

It is New England weather at it’s absolute worst!!!
I have NEVER ever ever liked this kind of Spring
Weather. Give me snow storms, below Zero weather in the Winter, 100+ in the Summer, Hurricanes, Thunderstorms. You name it, just don’t give me this kind of CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember in 1997 while planning for our daughter’s wedding. We had to go to the venue for the reception
on the Water Front in mid-June. It was in the mid 50s
with this same East Wind, low clouds CRAP!!!!!

  3. Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody! A cool day but at least the sun is out. I am looking forward to a nice day down at Foxwoods.
Its been chilly the past few days and it continues today. A coating of snow on the ground the other day and dafodils that drooped as a result of that lows in the 20s the past two nights.

    1. Enjoy and congrats. Are you actually hitting the casino? Or do you golf?

Watch out if visiting the casino. You know where they got the money to
      build the casino, don’t you?????

  4. Thanks Old Salty. I am actually hitting the casino. I have gone to Foxwoods every year on or around my birthday since I turned 21 in 2005. The machines don’t hit as they did before the recession. I like going its a nice day out and if I win anything its icing on the cake.

    1. btw, in my humble opinion, Mohegan Sun is a much nicer casino.
      Much more like Vegas casinos.

As for payouts, I couldn’t tell you which one is better.

  5. I would agree mohegan is better. The only reason we went to foxwoods for my bachelor party was for the poker room and the high rollers bowling alley.

    1. Mohegan has a very nice poker room, albeit smaller than FW.
I also think MS has a golf course as well. πŸ˜€

  6. Regarding casinos,

I have been kicked out of Foxwoods. Seriously, the truth. πŸ˜†

    Can you guess why?

          1. Yes, indeed!

BUT the casinos have made it nearly impossible by
dealing from 8 deck shoes, Not dealing out as many cards, changing the rules and the latest is changing the blackjack payout from 3:2 to 6:5.

I’ve been tossed from casinos in Las Vegas as well. πŸ˜€

  7. You were right tk, my flowers never died, if they didn’t die, I’m not sure they ever will, I mowed my lawn for the 1st time today, about 10 days later than average.

Sun and clouds 46 on the truck

    1. Man, i gotta get in on your lawncare regiment! I havent seen anywhere in the area, even down in the attleboros that are ready for a mow. My lawn has recently greened up but nothing near mowing height yet. Forsythia in my front yard starting to get that yellow hue πŸ™‚

      1. πŸ™‚ if you have been fertilizing you have mowed or are about too, if your south of providence you’ve mowed twice πŸ™‚

        1. I fertilized for the first time 2-3 weeks ago i think. A little later than i wanted to but i had some huge snow piles in the front yard that just didn’t want to melt.

      2. They have been mowing in attleboro’s for weeks now, again if you applied your 1st fertilization back around 3weeks ago πŸ™‚

      3. We have a lot more down here, the dogwoods, forthysia, willows and many other trees have already budded here, the forthysia here turned yellow last week when it came close to 80 degrees πŸ™‚

    1. For u retrac yes for sure, I have 3 customers way up in shrews bury and landscape is much much differnt, my lawns r just beginning to turn green there, good luck πŸ™‚

  8. Not even close to cutting at home either

And I don’t mind this weather. I’m back on the deck….cocktail I’m hand. Ocean is awesome.

  9. Don’t forget to turn on a porch light for Sean collier tonight. Thanks TK for making me aware of it on FB

    1. I’ll be shining porch lights and a blue light in one window for Sean.
I never met him, but I have known his aunt for 30 years (dated her in the 1980s and we’ve been friends since). They are a great, close family.

      1. I’m sad we do not have a blue light down here. But the light is already lit here and daughter said it is at home. Many of our neighbors are doing the same

  10. I don’t waste anytime getting the yard/property spring ready. I on average have mulch down, flowers in, everything swept and clean of salt and sand, pool open and ready, lime app and fertilizer w/crabgrass reducer all complete by the beginning of April. I don’t waste anytime, I’ve been done for a couple weeks now. πŸ™‚

  11. Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz?

Which was NOT a factor in any of the previous Marathons?
    A. Record high temperatures
    B. Record flooding
    C. Snow falls
    D. Volcanic eruptions

    Answer later today.

      1. This is my initial thought as well, but then perhaps there was an icy cold marathon indirectly resulting from an eruption somewhere around the world.

        I’m definitely overthinking this ……. B.

        1. I’m tempted to agree with you Tom and was thinking my st Helen’s but that was summer IIRC. Ill say D

    1. It is ! Just some sun and my energy is already better than it was all day yesterday.

I parked up at the sea wall for about 30 minutes this morning, it was great ! About to head out onto the deck.

  12. 48.9

Is it destined for 60? Sure looks like it. We shall see.

Bruins were FLAT last night after we were promised they would not be.
I still think too many of them were not strong due to recovery from the flu.

    Better luck tomorrow.

    1. I had mentioned earlier this will be a tough series. Seven game prediction being tied going into the fifth game. 3:pm tomorrow.

  13. Since it is Easter tomorrow And we recently were discussing the big snow storm of
April 6, 1982, I thought I would share something. In 1982 Easter was on April 11.
So there was still snow left before Easter. My then 4 year old son and his friend (with
a little help from me) constructed this Snow Bunny. (my son is on left)

    1. Hysterical and if I recall your daughter, she and your son look a lot alike. Handsome children πŸ™‚

  14. From NWS last night:

US National Weather Service Boston MA

Interesting Weather Fact: At 8 pm EDT this evening it was 38 degrees at Boston, while Fairbanks Alaska was 52 degrees.

  15. Beautiful morning, it smells like the middle of spring, it looks like the middle if spring with the kids running around playing, it also looks very pretty outside.

    Sunny 57.7 degrees and it’s only 10am, thinking upper 60’s today πŸ™‚

    1. We’re cold-advecting which will try to counteract the warming from the sun and breeze over land. I’ll give you a 63 or 64. Upper 60s not very likely.

  16. Don’t find it to be a worry at all that the B’s dropped game 1. They were never going to sweep the Red Wings.

  17. Hi Vicki…. I had a wonderful birthday party Sunday out at a resturant in Waterbury, CT called San Marino’s. with my family and close friends. I had a great time yesterday down at Foxwoods even though I did not win.

    1. Im the only one left outside and I did out a light jacket on. I could watch the ocean all day. Has anyone tried the marine traffic app? It shows ships everywhere along with description, route etc. Mostly we are seeing tugs but some tankers and yachts

  18. I have to admit Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz is a little bit of a trick question so I am posting again if choose to re-try.

Which was NOT a factor in any of the previous Marathons?
    A. Record high temperatures
    B. Record flooding
    C. Snow falls
    D. Volcanic eruptions

    Answer later today.

    1. It’s got to be d. In 2007 when I ran it was almost canceled because of a big nor’easter rain and wind storm.ended up working out ok by the time of the race but not those hrs sitting there waiting. Luckily my team had acess to an indoor facilty.

    2. It’s B. Don’t you all remember the time that Heartbreak Hill erupted and they almost had to change the route? πŸ˜‰

      Yes, I’m just kidding.

      1. I’m changing to C. My gut tells me somewhere a volcanic eruption affected it. I don’t remember snow but then I don’t remember flooding either.

  19. I think Boston hits 51 then falls back to upper 40s tomorrow (Logan, bit warmer western part of the city). Cape & Islands 45-50. 50s elsewhere, 60 far inland.

  20. Answer to today’s (tricky) AccuWeather Trivia Quiz

Which was NOT a factor in any of the previous Marathons?
    A. Record high temperatures
    B. Record flooding
    C. Snow falls
    D. Volcanic eruptions

The correct answer is B, record flooding. The answer D is tricky. There was a year where many runners from Europe could not make it to the Boston Marathon because an eruption in Europe disrupted plane travel to Boston.
