EASTERly Wind

9:28AM

An east wind off the chilly ocean will make today less mild than yesterday over most of the region, but still a very nice Easter Sunday for those celebrating it, and if you are, I wish you a happy one! High pressure in control will bring plenty of bright sun.

This high holds Monday, which is Patriots Day, or Marathon Monday, and with a more southerly flow it will warm up, especially inland. The wind will be light enough to allow some ocean breezes in coastal areas, and already an onshore flow along the South Coast with the southerly wind, so these areas again will be cooler.

A southwest flow arrives Tuesday ahead of an approaching cold front. Though more clouds are expected, and eventually a shower threat, we’ll see all areas except the South Coast at least in the 60s, with some lower 70s not out of the question.

The front that approaches Tuesday will be slow to move through and will allow low pressure to form on it, keeping Wednesday unsettled and cooler. This low will then intensify and move away slowly, so that Thursday will be a fair but gusty and cool day. The squeeze play will be on Friday between that and another approaching low from the west. Questions arise as to how quickly this low will firstly move in, secondly hang around, and thirdly get the heck out of here. So the later Friday / Saturday forecast is low confidence, and when I put up The Week Ahead post later, we’ll probably add Sunday to the low confidence mix.

Forecast for southeastern New England…

  1. Good morning all!
    Happy Easter!!

Apologies for the closed comments on the previous blogs. Done for spam reasons, but I forgot that the blog that was up was written early Friday, and therefore passed the 48 hour “age limit” that I set. 😉 I had it set at 7 days previously. This is also the reason why the Contest and Gardening pages are comment-closed. I have not figured out how to fix this, but I have an update to install (with the guidance of my tech geeks) who will be around tonight and tomorrow so hopefully we can get this all cleared up finally.

In the mean time, this blog entry will have open comments (as usual).

    Have a great day everyone!

    1. I cooked out for the first time yesterday , steaks. I did not see any steaks in the chest so I grabbed the expensive ones that are unwrapped in the display case, wow what tender big boy steaks these were. I’ve never bought them like that but I got my. $35 dollars worth for two steaks.

  2. Happy Easter everyone!
The sun is out and shaping up to be a good day. Going out for a nice easter brunch with my family.

  3. Happy Easter all.

Perhaps it’s nice or will be nice well inland, but it is MISERABLE near the coast!!!

  4. Legal Sea Foods later for Easter Dinner with the family.

Rain, where did you end up, if at all?

    😀

  5. We had our ham and fixings last Sunday when son could be here too. This week it is chicken parm half sheet from corner cafe and pasta. Yummmmm. I hope everyone has a special dinner

  6. I’m loving that everything is becoming colorful, we r noticing that we can’t see our neighbors through the trees anymore, our willow tree is in full bloom 🙂

    1. So jealous about your willow – we used to have a few of them in our front yard, but some got cut down, others fell down on their own due to disease or extremely wet ground/high winds. Love how they’re the first trees to show real color in the spring.

  7. Happy Easter! Hope everyone is having a good day. Its amazing, easter this year is about as late as it can be on the calendar and theres still not much blooming yet.

      1. Nothing planted yet, prob will wait till next year to do anything with the yard. I’ve been in attleboro all day, doesnt look any different here than at home in sharon. Forsythia and daffodils and an occasional dogwood but thats about it. Drove by Willow Tree chicken, their willows are greening up but not full bloom yet.

  8. Just took a 6 mile walk along Rte. 16, the Marathon route. Beautiful day out there. Lots of police around.

  9. Happy Easter, Woods Hill Weather family! Hope you’re all enjoying this glorious day 🙂

  10. Vicki – thanks for the Anniversary wishes.

And OS, Vicki – we got take-out at Lotus Blossom. It was excellent and we have enough left-over for tomorrow, too!

Daffodils and some yellowing on forsythia in Sudbury and maybe more signs of spring I haven’t seen yet in Sudbury. A beautiful day today – maybe winter is over ’til nxt. fall/winter?

    1. Sounds like a relaxing and fun day. So glad you had a nice double celebration. We haven’t been to lotus blossom in a while. We will have to try it again. Thanks

  11. Imagine if Riley Smith had to fight his brother in this series? 🙂

Chara had a good laugh with him when he could reach…

    1. I have a bet with a guy that when they come back to the garden series will be tied two a piece . Nice afternoon here in Winthrop.

  12. Happy Easter, Happy Greek Orthodox Easter and Happy Passover. Hope everyone had a great day. Topped out at 58 here. Was great in the sun and light wind. Got a little bot of a sunburn.

  13. Happy Easter! Got to 62 out here in the Valley. I tell you, I have become less and less of an lover in March and April snow but if you told me that most areas would only receive 1-3 inches during these 2 months I would have said this is the year we get good late season snow. Pattern is starting to turn drier, and I believe in about 3 weeks or so we trend towards warmer.

    1. Warmer would be nice. Just barely made 50 here and that is all. In the 40s MOST of the day. Brrrr

      1. Hey OS sorry about my post. Should have said less of a believer in March and April snow. iPhone typing not so good….

  14. We’ve had warmer days, but for me … today was the best weather day of the spring so far !!! I’ll bet Marshfield didnt make it to 50F, but the wind was fairly light and the sun was toasty warm. It was a great day to be outside on the deck and put on multiple pounds eating. 🙂

    1. I agree. The wind was light until noon. When it switched to off the ocean it was bitter but we just moved to the other side. The sun was wonderfully warm

  15. I thought today was a refreshing day. I’m stuffed after all the food. Stuffed artichoke, ravioli, meatballs, sausages , ham, Mac and cheese, pineapple stuffing, some Italian dish with cold cuts in it, strawberry cheese cake, home made ice cram and more. I was good till after desert.
