The Week Ahead

A frontal system is oscillating back and forth over the Northeast. This will continue for the next few days. On Saturday we were on the chilly side. Today, Easter Sunday, we were on the warm side here in the Boston area. Tomorrow, we will find ourselves back on the chilly side again. The front is expected to push further north putting the Boston area into the warm air again Tuesday, only to sink back to the south and return the cooler ocean air Wednesday, but yet another northward push on Thursday will return the region to the warm air. A cold front coming in from the west should produce showers and thunderstorms before pushing the whole see-saw system out of the region. High pressure will try to build in at the very end of the week with mainly dry weather.

Detailed forecast for the Boston area…

  1. Typical spring pattern! A lot of gyrations in temps.

Charlie from the other day no way anyone shouldaccept a bet regarding temps below freezing:-). If anyone even thought about it I would they are nuts!

    1. This is NE Hadi so I are nuts at this time and will bet a donut. I think the trolls are doing a lot of impostering these days with no one else to argue with.

  2. According to my imposter on the BZ blog get ready for more snow Wednesday after the 18 plus inches north of the pike on Easter. LOL!
Now back to sensible weather as another week of severe weather across the country and unfortunately for more tornadoes. I’ll keep an eye on that cold front and its approach for Thursday but I don’t see severe weather for us at this time but I would not rule out a couple strong thunderstorms CT River Valley west.

  3. Heat…..A/C….close the windows, open the windows…..lovely time of the year in New England………..the low clouds and a steady mist are happening in Marshfield. Havent had a chance to be outside or check an ob, but I’m thinking the temp may have fallen further this morning.

  4. Visible satellite loop shows clearing has moved northward into extreme SW Connecticut. Temps in the sun have soared, I believe Philadelphia is 85F. Wonder how warm parts of interior southern New England could get tomorrow……..

Rooting for consistently mild to warm temps, I’m not enocuraged long term with the NAO seemingly forecast to head towards neutral and possibly negative. Seems to be showing a cooler future in the northeast in the long term outlook.

    1. Tom, I noticed those long term outlooks (CPC) as well. They have shown well below normal temps and above normal precip for much of the CONUS for the past two days. I hate hot temps, but I really would love some warmth for May.

I hope no repeat of Summer 2009…that was a bit “too” cool.

  5. Another active night of weather across parts of the country with tornado watches and a couple being labled a particular dangerous situation. Reading a discussion from the NWS office out NY the NAM profiles don’t support severe weather on Thursday and that goes along with my thinking for earlier that I expect a few strong storms CT River Valley west although Henry Margusity still has SNE in the intense thunderstorm category for Thursday.

  6. ** Blog is updated!! And this forecast I just made has major bust potential, but I’m hoping it works out.
